Love this but two complaints: 50m WR is borderline for me for a rugged field watch. The minute hand is too short, hard to read quickly because it doesn’t reach the minute marks.
@@theONEwatches713if you look at the smaller 33m version, the minute hand is the correct length. It looks like they tried to use the same hand set for the larger 38mm version. Very poor design choice.
If you are lucky, the movement itself in a quartz watch lasts about 25 years and then either the movement is no longer available or too expensive to replace so quartz watches are not forever! where as if you maintain a high quality mechanical movement regularly It will last forever. therefore,4 hundred Dollars,in my opinion is too much to pay for a standard quality Quartz watch which the Grand Seiko is not. This is no grand Seiko level quartz watch!😅
IMO all field watches should have a screw down crown and at least 10 bar wr. When you’re truly in the ‘field’ you never know when you might encounter a body of water.
Hamilton is a joke. They are testing brand loyalty like apple or supreme. Bad lume, only 5 bar, to long lug to lug, reflecting saphire. 😂😂😂 This watch is made for history fans only. No outdoor enthusiast would ever consider this watch.
Milifortic offer a 38mm field quartz with a more interesting dial, screw down crown, sapphire crystal and 100m WR for the hefty price of $82. It has the seiko VH31 movement, which has a good track record. Im struggling to find a reason to justify spending an extra $300. Its a simple watch, its a simple movement. The mechanical version can be bought for around $300 on the used market in virtually unused condition.
Oh goodness those are two totally different styles. If you want under the radar basic design and nothing flashy I’d say this. If you want something classy and stylish that can be dressed up or down than prx.
Great review of this exciting new development from Hamilton. Now if they only do it in 36mm with the same 12 + 24 hour dial as the mechanical, we’d really have a winner!
I wonder if they’ll change the frankly insane 47mm lug-to-lug distance. The mechanical wears much bigger than a 38mm should, and the giant gap between the lug holes and the case renders two-piece straps essentially unusable. I’d love to be able to take advantage of the excellent thinness of the watch with a leather strap, but the gaps are just excessive.
They have reduced the lug to lug distance by a couple of mm and a two piece strap looks a lot better on the quartz watch. Mine turned up yesterday. It's a great easy to read daily beater!
@@grahamarcher2729 neat. Just searched around, and it seems it’s 45.6mm, which ought to make a big difference. The wild thing, however, is the 33mm has nearly 40.7mm lug to lug, which is proportional to the old Mechanical. I bet most folks who want 33mm watches don’t want lug to lug measurements over 39mm or so.
Watch Buying Public, “Hamilton, please add a screw down crown and 150m WR”. Hamilton, “best I can do is a quartz movement, less dial test and a smaller case size.”
You can get a cheap version of any watch nowadays. Be it a Rolex a Tudor a Patek Phillipe or a seiko. Just comes down to what you want. I’ve had plenty homage watches but they don’t do it for me anymore, always feels like I’m wearing a fake. But each to their own.
It's not a mechanical watch (if I found the right listing on AliExpress), it has a Seiko VH31 mecha-quartz movement, which ticks at 4 beats per second. The VH31 is not a bad movement, but the ETA F06.105 used by Hamilton runs for over 5 years on a battery, and has an end-of-life indicator warning you it's time to replace that battery, so you won't find that the watch died overnight. It has 3 jewels, which extends the lifespan of the movement. The Escapement Time watch is 11mm thick, the Hamilton 8.3mm. The battery life of the ETA movement is listed as 68 months, the VH31 as 2 years, on the same battery (Renata 371). Your point is well taken: it LOOKS very similar, but it's not the same.
OMGG hamilton can you just friggin release the same khaki field mechanical dial we have today, unchanged, in 33mm-35mm and you've got my money day 1. stop with all this other BS plz..😭😭
Incredible price. Swiss made, sapphire crystal and the Hamilton brand wow

Great points. The water resistance should be more. I didn’t even see the minute hand. Now I can’t unsee it.

Why does everyone want 100 WR? You do know it’s a field watch, not a dive watch right?😂
I would choose this over CWC field quartz watch any day
They should have made it at least 100m WR - the CWC GS Sapphire has a WR of 200m
I just realised are there no drilled lugs in this version of the Khaki?
Love them especially at 30% discount great beater
Oh for sure. Shouldn’t pay retail for Hamilton.
I'll stick to Casio. There's no reason a quartz watch should cost this much.
Can’t argue with that. Especially with basic designs it’s hard to justify paying more for the brand name.
Convert it to Canadian and you really get reamed.
Say that to my grand Seiko quartz which cost me 3k and my favourite watch in my collection.
Completely disagree. The build and finish of the Hamilton is of a much higher quality - the watch will last much longer.

I'd definitely get one, but the smallest i go is 40mm. I have many autos and quartz. Both have their place.
What’s the biggest size you own?
@@theONEwatches713 42mm sir
when will they join the new world. 100 m WR is a standard minimum. then i would have jumped on this
same

I really do like Hamilton watches, but I will stay with the mechanic version in 38mm. There are still good deals to be had if you shop about.👍⌚
Still no screw down crown? Shame 🔔
This or the prx?

With high accuracy quartz and solar it could be quite perfect.

I would love this without the Khaki at 6. Just my nitpick.
I HAVE A ESCAPEMENT TIME THAT LOOKS JUST THE SAME FOR 50 BUCKS, SWEEPING HANDS

Picked up the 38mm with green nato strap the other day. £318 with an online discount code. Fantastic watch I love it.

Hahah so true. It’s like these watch brands love torturing us with limited editions and new watches with cool updates but missing something.
Noop. I think The mechanical wasnst worse The value. Imagine The quartz for this price.
