My friends in the UK are finally starting to breakdown and buy those window AC units to combat the heat. In the past when I'd suggest it they'd always argue it wasn't worth it for the few hot days they had a year... but now, they can't continue to ignore the problem. Meanwhile, I keep the AC going to some degree most of the year.
It's always cheaper to use mass produced parts hence why the robots are rigged to use off the shelf firearms. It also makes them more flexible in what weapons they can use. If God forbid these robots went into mass production it may make sense then to create custom gun components for them to use.
It's probably not about mass production, everything about this video makes it seem like this is just some (probably russian, based on the gun and armored car) dude with a bit of engineering knowledge and a lot of money to throw around. In the full video the robot nearly flips over from the recoil, and most of the time it gets pushed onto it's back legs at the very least. Just mounting the gun upside-down or sideways would fix this, although there's still so many other issues with using a regular human gun. Pair that with the fact that this thing is looks like it still has to be manually controlled and I don't think any military/police/security organization would buy this over the same value of equipment for actual people.
That Coors Light ad is exactly how you handle a situation like that..you tell everyone up front that you fucked up, and then you make fun of yourself and the situation in a clever way in order to make the best of it...it turns a "celebrity endorsement commercial" into a memorable moment because of the fuckup that they openly admitted to...
