      @@boristakerman problem is unless you want to flip burgers or push carts, you can't just move to some podunk town in the middle of nowhere, that's not where jobs are. Work from home sounds like the future, but it's not the present for most companies.

    I'm guilty of adding "reddit" to the end of every google search when I need an answer to something but I cannot wrap my head around people only using tiktok to find out things. the search feature feels so clunky and clogged up with hardly related videos that it's always been practically useless to me

    • @TheNitram8

    • @LiveType
      @LiveType ปีที่แล้ว +44

      Don't be. Reddit genuinely has a higher success rate/speed in finding good initial answers because it pools an enormous amount of people with different life experiences. There is almost a 100% chance someone has come across a similar problem/question as you that others on reddit would chime in to offer their experience with. Are they the highest quality answers? Usually no, but it's by far the fastest way to get a good starting point you can use as a comparison. This is probably what the Tiktok lady was talking about.
      It's 100% valid and a weak point for google search. Google needs to up their algorithmic game.

    I'd love to see Atrioc talk about the rise of copyright infringement in advertisements that has resulted from tiktok and its use of audios. Not just using someone's reaction in a gaming ad, but all of the ads that use music, tv shows, or other tiktok audios that the original creators clearly aren't being paid for.

    • @wurmie
      @wurmie ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'm pretty sure it all comes from copyrighting your content, because you are supposed to have a seat at these deals, but what most people end up doing is signing away their content as a whole because they don't really understand what they are doing. Then any copyright infringement isn't going into their pockets it's going into the new copyright holders pockets. Also any deal with companies won't be paid to you, it'll be paid to the new copyright holder. It's very important to read contracts, that's how most creators (youtube/music/even actors) end up in really shitty deals.

    • @gooberlaya
      @gooberlaya ปีที่แล้ว +15

      he mentioned it before where he was reviewing mobile ads, but he basically said that companies aren't afraid of copyright infringement because even if their ads get taken down, by the time the ad is removed it has already been shared with a lot of people due to how many active users tiktok has.

    Just as a note the "financially comfortable" thing I believe is sourced from Charles Schwab and their survey of individuals opinions of what they believe an "appropriate amount of money is to be financially comfortable" and is not an empirical study on the cost of living in these areas. Now arguments could be made that knowledge of crowds could apply however the survey does not take large populations from each area but rather a group of about 1-2 thousand people all over the US. So let's not all take that first part too much to heart as that is not proper data analytics for determining actual requirements for "financial comfortability".

    TikTok is also an e-commerce platform. As in, Chinese TikTok primarily operates as an e-commerce platform. Creators link items that are shown in their videos. Kinda like an amazon referral, or the Gen-Z version of QVC.
    Super-apps are also popping up outside of China. Grab and GoJek are making a push to become SE Asia's super-app, while Kakao and Line are trying to do the same in Korea and Japan respectively.

    I work at an apartment complex and we’re already seeing some issues. We used to have a waitlist because we’re a good middle ground option between old and shitty and new and overpriced. We were built in 1999 and our apartments have been kept up with. However, in the time since I started working here, our corporate office has raised rent 3 times. Our large 1 bedroom has gone from $750 a month to $900 a month. At this point our waitlist is shrinking because our apartments are starting to not be cheaper enough than the new ones for people to actually consider us and people that need a cheaper apartment are being priced out by us.

This is in Ontario. I don't know if landlords fall under provincial/state laws or federal or municipal even. Owning more than say 3 places in unreasonable as well. Need to eliminate multiple property landlords. one apartment complex should be one place so at most you could regulate 3 specific apartments as an individual .Potentially more as an insured corporation.

    "What's going on in China is, uh, insane!"
    The crazy thing is, you can say this same thing at any point for the past few thousand years and this has always been true and especially the past decade or so. Modern China (like Mao and on) is arguably the most interesting, scary, and unbelievable country in all of history!!
