Nice review and thanks for the shout out Sandman. I keep my echelon in my laptop bag now. I added the quad combs, bypass driver and decoder from the Arbiter set and slid my spare Riv pick in the pocket for the .025 profiles.
I wish CI sold the Echelon and Genesis tools with just the Echelon case. Now I have this extra Genesis case and have the urge to buy more tools just to fill it. 😉
I have the Echelon set, combined with my Genesis and several other tools. It is comfortably holding 17 picks and 11 turning tools, and I can't be happier with it.
Had a cheap set with the clear locks (tier 4 lol) so me and my kid could fool around with picking. Grabbed the CI Genesis set and some combs, and im hooked on the hobby now. Love the deep dive on tools, companies, quality, etc. Saving up for an Echelon and Arbiter set, in this hobby for the long haul.
Great review as always...I bought my Echelon set around Christmas and absolutely love it! It is my EDC and I use it daily. I have no doubt that it is the best bang for your buck out there...I did manage to get a set of the new JimyLongs ordered yesterday and they should be here Friday...Be safe, be well...Peace!
Thank you for your service and the videos. I just got into lock picking and bought the Genesis. I just now ordered the Echelon after watching this video.
I am currently hacksawing my way through a set of CI Comb picks. It is a hard go but I have started. Tough steel. $20 shipping for $100 product is my minimum, I've put in closer to $200 orders to just make shipping 10%. lol I may get the Echelon at some point, it would go well with the Arbiter set.
I’m a beginner who previously started with some Amazon Chinesium set and acrylic lock, moved onto a new master lock and brinks padlocks, and am hoping to move up the belt ranks soon. My manager expressed some desire to learn to pick, so I gifted him my old set and used it as an excuse to buy the Genesis, Echelon, and a couple of decoders to stick in there. They come tomorrow and I couldn’t be more excited. Just joined the reddit and discord as well so hopefully I’ll see ya in there soon! Central Texas here as well btw. Thanks for the greats vids.
I love the Echelon set, I've got a ton of Covert stuff and I love em. I love my Law Lock as well they fit my big hands better. But put a little Heat Shrink on my Coverts and they are awesome. I took a bunch of my Covert Tools and put the Southord sleeves over them and they are crazy comfortable.
The Echelon is defiantly something I wan to to acquire at some point I own the genesis and look forward to one day owning more of his stuff. Great video by the way.
Like I've said time and time again, I have both the Genesis and Echelon, and those two sets combined feel like the only tools I'll ever need (for tackling pin tumbler locks anyway)! I do want to round out my collection with the combs and Arbiter tools eventually, but once I spring the money for them I'm certain I'll have no regrets!
Still a wannabe here but gotta say thanks so much for saving me tons of $$$. Your reviews let me get the last one first instead of going down the trial-and-error path. I picked up the echelon set shortly after your not a review review then the arbiter set during their holiday sale. Thanks for getting me a great start on the gear....now I just need to work on skill.
That’s great! Isn’t that arbiter set cool as hell?! I need more practice with it because I’m always picking locks and not bypassing them it if I love that I have it
I ordered the genesis echelon and comb pick set last Friday can’t wait. I love the smooth thin profile on the coverts. I started on an fng lol ❤ thanks for the great review sandman!
Got JimyLongs basic set today! Fixing to try them out. Only gripe with CI is their tubular 7.8mm impressioning tool. It's too small and has a crack where the 7 pin tension rod goes. Plus they want answer my email. Be nice if you could buy individual popsicle picks too. Got in info on "The Vault"? Multipick is my favorite overall for though.
Nice review, and i think you are close to my choices. My mostly recommended pickset for beginners is... ... An Echelon... ...combined with a... ...Genesis. Yes, that's your choice, what you made earlier. However i have a lot of Multipick sets, but i have never opened my MP beginners set, it stands in its factory sealed bag in the depth one of my pick chests. Like the LockNoob edition. I just won them, but they weren't ever opened. But i am totally sure, that the Klom Navigator is one of the best beginner sets of the world, and many millions were sold from that. Ok, it bends, it breaks, but always has something to offer what can go trough the warding. Ok, i shut my mouth, coz' its almost Picking Time 😏
Hey Sandman, thank you for your review! I was hoping I could ask you a question about what I should buy. I am a little new to lockpicking and I was wondering if I should buy the Genesis set first and then move onto this set or if I should just buy this set. The picks and tension tools included in the set look pretty similar, and I would hate to waste money buying the same thing twice. Thank you very much!
if you are new, you want the genesis, because you will tend to be heavy handed, and genesis tools are .025" thick, perfect for beginners, however due to their thickness they are limiting. if you have picked a lock before, and your not bending your tools on a regular basis, then you can definitely get into the echelon. however both sets compliment each other for one giant set. but you could skip the genesis if you have a month or more of experience. but if you are more advanced, Covert will be releasing new tools this summer, but advanced pickers. with handles. you cant go wrong either way.
I have to say, I really enjoy your reviews. I wish there was something I could do for your locksport journey (unfortunately I dont have the skills like you mentioned where the guy helped you design the lock tags) where you would send me some covert companion pick sets. I love their stuff. Eventually going to purchase their various sets. I agree, the beat sparrows hands down.
Bro i sadly have the same problem that u have with multipick. I live in Germeny and i would love to order someting from convert Instruments from the Us. Sadly they want shipping costs up to 70$ for shipping to Germany
I gotta stop watching these. 😂 And CI needs to kick you a commission. I’ve bought too many of their items now based on your videos! Don’t get me wrong. Really fine products and great for everyday use. But I’m going broke over here! 😂 Happy I’ve found them…because of your videos.
Hey Sandman, I saw on the site recently they have the Echelon case, they call it the Garrison case in Black. I know you like Black better than OD, or FDE whatever you wanna call the case it comes in.

I picked up the Genesis & Echelon sets last week. Total nube & LPL addict. 1st day I picked my TSA luggage lock, Master lock #3, and Schlage front door. How in the heck should a total nube (with the right tools) be able to do that? 😮
I purchased mine after seeing your previous review. It's just too bad they only use USPS to deliver your items. I would of gladly paid an extra $30 if it meant I would be getting my pics. Now I'll never know just gow good these pics are 😢 RIP my echelon set picks courtesy of USPS
@@sandman_locksport I completely ditched my sparrows gear, except for the mimi jim tool. I added the CI credit card latch slip to the Echelon case. Correction, they were never illegal, you only thought they were, as did most locksmiths.States may vary, but they are only prohibited to carry in 3 states out of 50. Love the echelon! I combined my arbiter set with my echelon set in the trifold case, and it fits perfectly with no issues.
I love the ergo turners that came in the echelon kit. I even moved them to the zipper case I carry in my backpack with my jimy longs.
I wish CI sold the Echelon and Genesis tools with just the Echelon case. Now I have this extra Genesis case and have the urge to buy more tools just to fill it. 😉
