The flute part is quite motivic and repetitive; without the score in view, one can't know if the composer told the player to keep things extremely even or not. The tempo here is also on the slow side, which impedes the forward flow for the flutist. Compare Izmaylov & Kueljar (fl) 2015, also Berthomier & Moreau (fl) Strasbourg 2016, both available here on TH-cam. Moreau has the most subtlety, creating slight hair-pin cresc - decresc larger phrases over several repetitions of a motif, for instance; also doing tiny wonderful things with the micro-timing. That plus a brisker tempo give the flute line great suppleness. Very appealing playing from Moreau.
