Buerger's Disease is also known as Thromboangitis obliterans, is a disease of small and medium-sized arteries, which is directly related to cigarette smoking. There is a narrowing of the arterial lumen so the blood supply is reduced. Eventually, there occurs gangrene in the distal part of Leg/hand. Hence the leg /hand has to be amputated. It is much more common in the leg. Male patients are the usual sufferer.
Doctor's saying,' You can have your leg or cigarette but not both.'
