Hi Kathy! I’m getting my degree in early education. I am making a big career change from management (grocery store). Here is the kicker I’m 37 years old. What advice do you have for me for my age going in teaching. I am looking forward to this. Thanks
You will have fun with fifth grade! Try to be consistent and nail down what you want as far as classroom management they are old enough to know but will def test their limits. I think being able to relate to them has been really helpful in my student relationships. Hear them out they are kids but smart & want to feel apart of the classroom. I give them a lot of choice within my own boundaries. Class jobs, making the classroom their classroom helps with them learning to respect eachother, you and the things your provide for the classroom! Good luck 🥰
Biztown is a field trip where students are in their own town! They have jobs, earn money, work with other schools and learn how to be citizens!! We split it all by trimester and we use studies weekly for SS and mystery science ❤️

Do you let the kids eat in the classroom while you are teaching if they are clean and quite. Or during independent work time?
No snack or food in the classroom! Unless its indoor recess. They eat snack during our extra recess in the morning 😊
