How are your kids so quiet and respectful? I’m into my second week and they literally just talk over me until they get a consequence. I also have so much refusal to work, hitting/punching, and running inside. I have gone over expectations until my face was blue, I have given consequences and had them redo their incorrect actions / apologize. I don’t know what to do. I’m really feeling like this will be my last year.

The Oliver Jeffers book There’s a Ghost in this House is amazing. I’ve had it for a few years now. I read it in October and my littles still remember it and ask for it throughout the rest of the school year. It’s a magical book! Can’t wait to see you read it to your class this year! 👻 TFS ☺️

Love this video! Are those cushions comfortable for the students? Do they enjoy sitting on them? Looking at ordering some cushions for my first grade students working on the mat, too!
“My head feels like it’s on backwards” I feel that lol our first week was two days so we just finished our first full week of school and I could’ve went straight to bed when I got home after school yesterday 😅

I love your videos. I have been watching since your first year! Something I wanted to share is that the song/rhyme thing you did with your sight words is called a chant. When something has rhythm, but no melody/ pitch it is a chant. If it has rhythm and melody/pitch it is a song. Information from a music teacher here. Keep up your wonderful work. You are an amazing teacher. Wishing you the best on this new school year!
