THIS is why Drive is so good. No flashy bs. Just the raw, real racing. Love it.
Why would someone put music in this video
true comment!
Mostly because it'll make the video a lot better where it hides out all the sudden cuts. This however didn't need music. Music are for montages among other things. Not for these videos.
This is some awesome stuff, guys. I don't think I need to speak for myself when I say this is GREAT and we are just rearing for MORE!
Turn the very annoying music off, dislike from me!
Awesome POV video!
Gets a thumbs down for the music.
The Drive Channel has a fantastic combination of shows. I am very happy that a channel like this even exists. I watch every episode of all your shows. Keep up the good work.
This guy got to know how to dont ruin a video with crappy music lol
This is incredible. I have watched all of drives videos and this stands out!
You're doing the lord's work. Keep up the racing coverage.
I love you guys! I love the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. It is one of the few good things that Montreal has!
That was great, exactly the kind of footage I want to see. I'm captivated and await the next driver's eye. Good work!
This was awesome. Please keep this series going!
Trust us.. we tried it without music. Retention would be VERY low without it. We tested it.
Awesome idea for a series! Can't wait to see more
great idea love the chance to get a drivers perspective on driving and just being at a circuit on race day...one of the best in cars ive seen thanks for the upload
I remember, one day, this track was open to the public. I was with my brother & my dad with his old Mustang SVT Cobra 1999. the speed limit was 20kmh, we went at 120kmh.
Good old memories, thanks drive!
Everything about this video was great. Love to see more like this please!
And THIS is why I don't drive games on 'cockpit-cam' Its too stale, and the dash and surrounding stuff just become a distraction and an obstacle. Thanks SO much DRIVE for sharing this. Makes me want to race even more.
Love how the race driver in the beginning is sitting in the golf cart, watches the guy hit the gas and is like.. here lemme turn the ignition on lol.. Pro
These Driver's Eye videos are awesome! I hope we get more of these vids. I'm excited for the GA/ALMS merger but I gotta tell ya I'm going to miss Grand-Am's current formula a bit, the racing is just so good right now!
best video yet. I would love more like this.
Great video! I have nothing to complain about, only that the Koenigsegg series is done. I was hooked on this 2 minutes in. Can't wait for more in this series.
Taking us places and showing us new things, thanks Drive!
This is truly amazing!
Thanks for doing this.
Contrary to what most I see saying I think the music fits the mood pretty well. I purchased this track on iRacing last night for Caddys next week. Great footage/compilation on the video.
Wonderfull, just what i want to see... Thank you again Drive.
Awesome video!!! Would love to see more like this!!
This was really fun to watch. Not something you get to see everyday. No road coarses by me, just KS Speedway. I've worked the pits and rubbed shoulders with the best of Nascar and all the drivers are about the same. Very laid back and fun to be around. Can't wait to make a trip out to TX this year to watch F1 for their second race here in the states!
PLEASE, keep doing this, i felt the video lasted 5 minutes, it was so good.
Brilliant vid Drive! Don't listen to the zeros complaining about the music being poorly incorporated into the vid... Music adds so much to any vid when done properly, and this was done properly. The music choice was super-cool, it allowed us to hear the sounds of the car when we all wanted to hear it, and enhanced the rest elsewhere. Good editing is what sets this apart from you or I slapping a Go-Pro on our heads and filming our drive to work... Keep it all in context 'sound-critics'!
Great stuff! thats what i like from drive show cars on a other view now and then :) keep up the good work
It's was an awesome video..good job drive network...please do more, even with drivers from different categories
First of all - thank's for this great and unique production.
The background music is needed, the problem is with the balance between the music, to the engine sound.
Keep up the good work
This show is awesome! More of this! :D
Why does everyone always have to put music over the engine sounds! So fucking irritating!!
loved it
I think a nice balance of music while racing and no music while racing is quite nice, doesn't get stale.
Great vid, that was really cool to see what they do
5% of our audience actually comments. If we only listened to the comments and not the hard data, DRIVE wouldn't be around today. Obviously, we LISTEN to comments, but that is not our only source of information and benchmarks
Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve = greatest track in the world!
This is amazing, more of this would be freaking sweet!
Really enjoyed that! Until gopro makes better audio on their cams it is what you get but you definitely need a fish eye to capture everything. I was glued to my screen for this. Thanks guys!
Amazing Video, realy deep in to testing/racing.
Music is awesome
crappy music....if you can even call it that.....get rid of it!
Amazing. Love the behind the scenes look at a race weekend. I don't mind the music as long as it's faded out for the driving segments. Might be nice to have some text titles about time of day, session info etc. And I'd love to see some onboard highlights from the actual race itself, if the driver still has the gopro on.
Good job, Drive. Looking forward to more from this series.
/Drive, i really like these videos. Keep 'em comin'.
How about re-uploading this without the music?
At first I thought what was the fuss abt the music...then I watched it and I have to agree. It was strenuous to keep watching it.
Watch the video to the end and stop complaining about the music!!
I'm greatful that these productions exist! It feels like an inshight to my dream job
Thanks for that!!!
Yeah, I know I'm in a minority of near enough, one, but the music really worked for me. Who's the artist? Sounded a bit like Boards of Canada.
I fucking love this. Great idea. Keep them coming cant wait to see more in car vids. Gave me chills the whole time!!
That was pretty cool, great video today
Fantastic, I don't usually like cameracars very much, but this is way better!
I really like this idea for a segment - some of the music can be kept for drama/excitement/build. What I would really like to hear is what the driver is thinking - could they also narrate what they are doing to prep? What's their focus for this session? How does a driver put themselves in a mental state to win/perform?
Amazing POV love it.
Great video! Love the music!
That was something else. Amazing!
This is so cool :). More more more!
I think you guys did an amazing job! Can't please everybody
Yeah the music ruined it for me too, I really don't understand why the do it
I think you've done and doing just great bringing us something different, DRIVE Team ;) I think that including some music isn't that bad, and if people just complain about wanting to listen the car, then just watch race car onboard cam. But they wont just see what's like getting in the skin of the driver, which I think is just great someone showed it. ;)
I would not be surprised if the people complaining about the music were the exact same people who didn't get and subsequently complained about Live and Let Drive?
When the video started I thought it was going to be 23 minutes of lap times, which while nice to see would have probably been too long. Instead, I saw something legitimately good and well thought out. I really hope to see more of this series; it is yet another pleasant Drive surprise like Inside Koeneggzeickg proved to be.
Great video, nice job guys.
Great video! But what is the high noise i hear before he starts the engine at 2:25? Sounds like a vacuumcleaner lol
So, I will say that I liked the music...very nice guys thanks.
was this shot during the f1 weekend?
Thanks! We didn't think the music stopped anyone from hearing the natural sounds. The audio is straight from the GoPro and not very good, so that should be kept in mind. This is a video about a driver at a track that has some driving in it, but it is not strictly a driving video. There's a story here. The COTA video is more of a straight driving video, hence no music added.
There's footage without music starting from 15.07, the earlier laps were mostly warmup laps, so I can understand they want to put some music into that. Not saying they should though, because that Porsche sound is just so nice. Anyhow, nice video drive!
In my opinion it's just background music not interfering with the clear sounding engine note. Also, I think it keeps the video flowing in the talking parts.
Loved it!
MOAR OF THESE PLEASE!!!!
I liked this it was entertaining and made me go play Grid and NFS Shift 2. Do you think you can maybe get Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing to do this? I'd love to see a few laps in the BMW's. Maybe at Sebring. I can't wait for another video like the Spa 24 video or the Dubai 24 video. They are epic and my favorite videos you guys have uploaded.
That's pretty much how I'm looking at it. Better to hear background music besides a near constant pop from the Go Pro mic.
I loved seeing this
I know that on One Lap Leh was blasting techno and dubstep on his laps. Have something like that playing in the background since it reflects him. This music really took me out of the experience of an otherwise great video. Keep up the great work guys
very interesting video :) and good idea!!!
I feel like this is going to evolve into a really badass racing documentary. Either that or, I just played too much pokemon as a kid...
A lot of race cars do have speedos. Knowing your speed can be a more accurate method in helping you determine whether or not you should lay off the throttle or on it through a turn. A driver wouldn't look at the speedo first but it is a nice secondary check that they can make. Plus this car has a speedo anyway...
Yea its awesome Very nice Sound .
Why isn't the music playing over them talking? Sheesh, keep it consistent! :P
I think the camera is focused on the dashboard, not the track in the distance?
@Ric Rac I use to sit my junk out through the belts. The straps sit behind them. It's uncomfortable if they are on them and in a shunt would probably hurt quite badly
Is there any way that you could cut the music from this video and re-upload? Looks like a great one other than that.
Have you guys thought about doing both? For example with this video, post one with music and one without. Wouldn't that be the best of both worlds?
more of this!! On major endurance races? Thanks Drive!!
awesome video!!
Makes me really sad that this race isn't happening agin this year :(
Oh, looks like further in to the video they stopped the music while Leh was on the track. Very good!
Upvotes for my hometown track! Montreal rocks
that porsche drives so smooth and perfect.. MORE! MOREEE! you hear me! MOOOOOREEE!!
I tend to agree, but watch the entire thing... when he does hot laps starting at around the 14 minute mark the music fades and you are left with pure racing and the sounds of being P1.
The Go Pro doesn't actually have a good mic so the engine sounds even without the music is pretty muted. I actually didn't mind this background noise and it's not like it was all throughout the video. Thanks for that insight Leh. At least I enjoyed it. ;-)
I like the way the video is presented. During the actual racing it pretty much stops or it is in very low volume...It actualy helps connect the action and non action parts....
Well done Drive - great concept and good execution. Would prefer without the music for future episodes. Any chance of capturing Le Mans / Sebring? Drivers eye of the challenges of night driving in a GT plus the stresses of a 24 hr race would be a pretty engaging watch....
Nice Hublot man! And Great video drive!
cool video, is there a version without the music ruining it?
I would give anything to have a life style like that, i go crazy just thinking about it.
I'm right there with you on that, been trying for years to get someone to take a chance on me
yes. more of this!
Awesome vid. I think the background music should have been cut as soon as he started the engine.
that job it's a dream....
That's nice. I still don't click on a video of a driver's eye view of a car lapping a circuit to listen to music, no matter how recognisable it may be. You could stick my favourite song on there, I'd feel the same way.
