    Nice! I am looking to do the same thing with the Monstertec left and right chair mounts with the mousepad extensions. I was planning on grabbing their universal chair mount but it looks like you managed to connect it directly to the 80/20 profile.

    Very smart work there!! Hey, that slotted plate at the bottom of the center flight stick - did you make or buy? Thanks.
    I too have a sim racing rig that I'm slowly (actually quickly) converting over for DCS.

      I bought it, it's part of this assembly. www.monstertechusa.com/product/center-joystick-chair-mount/ You can't really see it in the pictures, but look at the installation diagrams and you'll spot it. Just don't need to use the angled bracket that is blocking it in the pictures that would normally be used to bolt to the office chair. Everything else works exactly as you'd want. I can make a video with the center mount stick going in place if you'd like. Let me know.

    Where did you get those locking mechanisms from? And I assume those extra profiles are just random ones from a hardware store?

    Sick setup. I have a similar 8020 for racing and I'm adding similar things for flight landed on this video for idea. Def cool what you did.
    I'm looking for a virpil mount that works well with 8020 for the throttle and the stick.

    • @olithemongol
      @olithemongol  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks man. Yeah mines virpils too. Monstertech updated the side throttle mount that I ordered to have another plate on top, I emailed them and asked them for it and they sent it out. Still very happy with it. For the center stick mount, it's holding up very well, but I want to find an even quicker release for it someday. Like maybe a door latch from 8020 might work, but I haven't had time to think or look at it much. The quick screw knobs are good enough that I won't invest the time yet.

      @@olithemongol I’ve been looking at the Monstertech right HOTAS as I want to have that pivot point to help getting into and out of the rig. With shipping to me in the USA it’s like $250 which seems really expensive given my whole 8020 cockpit was like $900 with fixed HOTAS on right and left and a seat. Do you feel the $250 for the pivoting HOTAS (that’s per side also) is worth it or did you look for a way to make it from parts somewhere? I can’t seem to find the parts online and am reluctant to buy the Monstertech but maybe that’s the only way to have a pivoting/locking HOTAS on one side for rig entry. Nice setup for dual use, love it. I too have a sim racing and flying rig and enjoy the flexibility of the 8020 setup.

    • @olithemongol
      @olithemongol  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@patrickmurray1246 Sorry for the 13 day later response. I guess it really depends on how much you want to plan it out. You could certainly accomplish the same type of rotating/articulating motion with pivots and/or slides that work on 80/20 profile. I did a bunch of looking around at parts, but in the end I wanted to just buy something that would work. If you do end up making something, let me know! I'd like to see what you come up with!

    How do you like the ultrawide over triples?

    • @olithemongol
      @olithemongol  ปีที่แล้ว

      For the space savings, I like the ultrawide. My room isn't big enough for triples. For short tracks, I would like more ability to look out the driver side window more, but it's not a big deal. I don't need more view for any roadcourse or superspeedway.

    Does the pivot arm on the left hand make flying in Star citizen easier than just a straight arm?

    • @olithemongol
      @olithemongol  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah. It's a better feel than a straight stick. More control over the individual axis on your offhand. Forward is throttle forward, back is back throttle. Dead center is hover. Twist up down thrusters, left right is strafe for me, but lots of ways to set it up

    • @barto.3900
      @barto.3900 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      did you just removed the Y axis spring ? I did that but I’m having trouble finding the center to hover. Increasing the dead zone helped a bit but that not perfect.

      @@barto.3900 These Virpil bases have a tension spring adjustment that you can adjust. No need to remove the spring, you can just tension it so it doesn't auto center and sticks where you want the throttle to be set.

      @@barto.3900 The Warbirds don't have the feature. You will need to remove spring. I have the VPC MongoosT-50CM3 base for the throttle hand just for that feature (the dampeners). For center stick I use the cheaper warbird cause I didn't need that feature.
