i moved it's base and am trying to get it to recognize the new base as home. it keeps wandering to an empty space where the base used to live and sobbing quietly. :(

Another essential tip (got me) was not having mirrors close to and the same hight at the base station. My vacuume would get turned around a lot till I removed it

Should the base be connected to the power source the whole time? Even during night time?

Yes, it’ll cause problems if you disconnect. It’s intended to stay on all the time :)

Im concerned if it’s ok to stick the base against the baseboards/molding.

It shouldn't cause any issues at all!

Can you address how bad the Deebot app is?
Bought my t9 a year ago. Vacuum hardware works brilliantly but the software destroys anything the vacuum has to offer. I am doing all the right things positioning etc. even had the vacuum sent off for repairs. I’ve had to remap the house over 10 times since buying for the following reasons
Map gets randomly deleted or walls and rooms and dimensions suddenly get skewed.
Once map is created & saved I cannot divide rooms. Merge rooms or create boundaries to make new areas. An error msg comes up saying I cannot do it.
To use the vacuum I have to use it in custom mode and manually draw the area I want it to go. If I use area mode, it says relocating leaves the base does circles and then goes back to base
Deebot just keeps saying send it in but how many times will this happen before it works properly, it’s NOT the vacuum that is the issue it’s clearly the app and software ruining it. They won’t offer a refund. I paid )1500 for it. I’m furious at this point. I see lots of people say the same thing as me. But where do we go for help? I’m lost

It’ll just go offline regularly. You’ll still be able to use it via the button but won’t be able to access the app.

0.5 meters on each side? oh hell no. we give it barely 20cm and it's fine.

We did specifically say that is often the least important factor. But it does depend on what it is that is on either side too, and what model of robot.
