I always said whoever created that "ooooh, ohowwww, ohOWWW" sound effect was a genius. It really captures a vibe that kendrick gave in that whole album, dark and mysterious, yet soulful.
More producers need to realize that a base line can be the drive, or the main instrument for a song. It can have such a powerful influence that really takes over the listener
I feel you on that. No one agrees with me when I say that Sherane has the best beat on the album. It's a downright nasty beat that fits PERFECTLY with the lyrics.
This production is underrated, and is definitely incredible. The most amazing thing in that shit, is that it's completely digital besides the bass line, and it helps me in my own beat production cause I only work with my mac book pro ! Fantastic work, best opening
+Antoine Rashad I swear every time I hear that voice sample it sends chills down my spine, it sets such a strong tone to the situation kendrick is portaying in his lyrics in my opinon
Everyone talking about the bass but man that bended Rhodes that comes in.. "now I'm down Rosecrans in the caravan" adds so much to not only the beat, but the story as well. It's trippy, bent, distorted in the same way K Dot is feeling on his way to Sherane. Always loved that part, what a masterpiece
fantastic bassline and that vocal sample with the effects is soooo chilly! remember listening to the album the first time and getting goosebumps the moment it picked up. this is damn serious stuff, much appreciated!
I did a similar effect in an old beat I made. It was one of my older beats so musically it was a bit wack, but the effect worked well and blended in like a real sample.
@@KaizerMan How did you do it? Been trying to do something similar and can't get it right. Wish I could find the High Sky effect they mention in the video!
Man I remember this vid, takes it back when I first heard the GKMC snippets, before 10/22, on the way home from school and I got the chills knowing Dot had something great in his hands! #TDE
to this day this is one of my favorite beats. so haunting. this beat was minimal but had EVERYTHING. . I always thought Dre had made this beat. learn something new everyday
this is awesome. that was one of my favourite tracks on the album and probably one of the more underrated ones. really imaginative production and i love that he used his own vocals - probably the best part.
Yall Killing it. Aint it crazy how one sound can take a song to the next level. Those vocals Henny sang into maschine are haunting (in a good way) I am walking around the house singing that. LOL. Dope song. Congrats on the success. I am about to break out my Maschine now !
One of the many influences, most of the producers that influence me use Maschine, however it's not what you use, but how you use it. Keep it up @ThaBiznessTv
Literally geniuses. This is some of the most ethereal, dark and beautiful, “makes you feel sexy” music ever made. I am not worthy of feeling this hot! 🥵🚀
I had no idea you could sample electrical instruments into the Maschine software. This is what I've been waiting for.. I'll just need to figure out how to get this feature to work. Genius!
For everyone looking for the High Sky effect, I believe it is probably not in logic but in the maschines software. Even though it's a hardware it bundles with a software, I believe that's what he meant when he said sometimes you can still use stock effects or sounds to get the right textures. Don't quote me on that, but just trying to help.
I just got my studio set up again to make beats & this is like the perfect video I was looking for to get inspiration. The way he just recorded his voice like that & then used other stock shit for basically this whole track is crazy. Somebody commented that baseline made the beat, but I don’t agree lol. That guys vocals are hella cool & I honestly always thought it was a female vocalists or something this whole time so to see he just did it like that is really inspiring to say the least. Literally used what he had at his fingertips haha
I always said whoever created that "ooooh, ohowwww, ohOWWW" sound effect was a genius. It really captures a vibe that kendrick gave in that whole album, dark and mysterious, yet soulful.
This beat's so impressive because of how nocturnal they made it feel.
Oh f - that’s well-put
More producers need to realize that a base line can be the drive, or the main instrument for a song. It can have such a powerful influence that really takes over the listener
The_Scarf_Ace it's called bass, not base.
He got you.
I totally agree with the statement though, bass is often what makes a song..
+The_Scarf_Ace tell me the dopest songs u know, or anybody
The_Scarf_Ace Dr Dre is a perfect example of this.
Damn the sampling of his own voice is brilliant
Do you know what he used to record his voice?
The Crazy Canadian looks like an old Apogee One
Wondering the processing on it, any ideas ?
They kinda said what they used on the vocals @@virgilebeats3041
This is by far my favourite instrumental on Good Kid. To this day
Agreed! Dope song
craziest beat on the album in my opinion
I feel you on that. No one agrees with me when I say that Sherane has the best beat on the album. It's a downright nasty beat that fits PERFECTLY with the lyrics.
Sing About Me ????
Might be kendrick's most underrated song.

+MGallear9 The voice is my fav part. . .thats genius how he did that.
+Antoine Rashad I swear every time I hear that voice sample it sends chills down my spine, it sets such a strong tone to the situation kendrick is portaying in his lyrics in my opinon
Nah this beat is tight top to bottom.
and that snaaaaare
You can't just have a guy walk in with a 5-string Sadowsky, drop the hottest bassline on the album, and not introduce him!
🔥
fucking phenomenal piece of production! gives off such an eerie vibe
Lmao WOW. . .I always wanted to know where that voice came from. Thats a grown man -_-
+Antoine Rashad i know right, always thought it was some woman, lmao
+RealNigga19 lmaooo real talk same here. too funny

Recently copped the Mashine..to know that this song was made on it...BLOWN AWAY MAN..love this beat.

The beat is deceptively simple but the vid helps you appreciate the work that went into it, awesome job!! Hope y'all make more of these vids
man that bass line is dope!
Man I remember this vid, takes it back when I first heard the GKMC snippets, before 10/22, on the way home from school and I got the chills knowing Dot had something great in his hands! #TDE
