    It takes heart and intelligents to not only understanding the work being done but also to understand how it will be picked up as a viewer. There are so many other you tuber trying to do what Sarah does but man if I not get a dizzy head from it. Video is so all over the place and so fast talking. I do appreciate Sarah's patient and all the hard work she does every day for us to learn and for our Entertainment. I know she will achive all of her goals and dreams!

    Sarah, I ran into the exact same issue with the rear strut bolt when I helped my daughter lower her Forester XT a whole 1.5"with upgraded front & rear springs... Love your videos !!! Keep up the awesome job you do !!! Not everyone can appreciate how much harder it is to work on cars alone. I feel your pain! As for the pillow try a creaper because they are usually padded on the back with a raised pillow headrest.

    Sarah,I bought the same car(WhiteXT) pre-ordered in 2014 with every single option you could get..I even did the same fog light modifications you have..I pass the car down in 2016 to my daughter who graduated and is now a registered nurse👩🏼‍⚕️ ....Your Gump always reminds me of my relationship with my daughter...

    I've always found that Subaru was very ease of maintenance and repair focused since at least the early 90s. The internet loves to hate on them, but most have never touched one. My favorite car brand to work on by far! Great work as always, Sarah! Those look really nice. Also "Why twerk when you can torque?" Would be a pretty great merch idea.

    in my experience you will want to maintain the factory rake from front to back to maintain the weight transfer while cornering. while test driving pay attention to the weight transfer in the rear of the vehicle which is needed to aid cornering in awd vehicles.

    I have a 2009 Forester that I installed ISC coilovers on. Fronts have camber adjustments but were not needed. I marked my camber bolts on the fronts before removing them. I put them back in the exact spot. When I went for alignmenr front was perfect. Rears on the other hand where a mess. Not only was the camber off but so was the toe. I went as low as I could go but tires are still not tucked into fenders. I bought ISC lca's and some adjustable toe arms now my Forester handles like a gocart and I still have decent ground clearance.

    The rear can sit up high if the bushes were tightened with the ride up high... rubber bushes are vulcanised on both pin & outter shell so hold energy and wear out if they're not tightened at ride height...

    Sarah,
    Those Hipermax coilovers are beautiful! I would let it settle a moment as others have said. May I suggest half a degree negative camber just because the tall aspect ratio tire tries to scrub the outside in the factory's zero camber setting. That rear bar is a nice upgrade too.

    Nice detailing! Unlike my Jeep that still has mud from the trip to Deadhorse, AK I took four years ago. Modern cars still have a long way to go to be mechanic friendly- you have to be double-jointed to change the headlight bulbs on a Jeep Grand Cherokee. On a friend's 70's Volvo the job took only 5 minutes with no tools required.

  • @Dave-fx5zw
    @Dave-fx5zw 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good quality and matching colors don't happen often enough.
    That rear lateral arm to knuckle bolt does come out past the knuckle. The ball joint that the Forester and the STI use there allows the joint to pivot, which would allow the bolt to clear. The knuckle can't block a bolt that goes into the knuckle.

The tone of your voice was a giveaway to what was in your heart combined with your intellect, delightful. you spoke in a very very sincere tone. Practically impossible for any product producer to pay for. Better than Tom Selleck or Henry Winkler. Next new car you buy asked the public relations people for an auto writer discount. Subaru gave me one.

    Howdee from Lockdown New Zealand , hehe puzzles are good for us all darlin , our cars are 3d jigsaw's puzzles . Patience being the key . Before you touch your spring's undo all your lower control arm bushing bolts 2 /3 turns and take forester for a gentle ride , braking and side to side .
    Now the easy part , knock up 2 ramps that you can safely park forester on and are able to lay under and torque up all your bolts .
    If you put abit of weight in him , rear & front and on top of engine will slightly preload you suspension in its ideal working hight . Bonus it wont tear the centers out of your bushes .
    Have a good day and keep up the good work .

  • @19minorthreat69
    @19minorthreat69 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Just a heads up, when you reinstall control arms, you need to have them at the loaded ride height when tightening them down. If you snug them up at full droop, you will be placing a twisted load on the rubber bushings once you the car is on the ground. You can drive the rear up onto ramps, loosen the control arm nuts then tighten them again. that should be enough to relieve the "pre tension" you put on the bushings by tightening them at droop.

    What's funny is when I got my SF5, I called him Forest Gump, AKA Thomas the Hank Engine. Fast forward to a couple of months later, I discover your channel! However my Gump is very different to yours. Mine is usually covered in dirt and mud, has A/T tyres, a roof basket, something is usually ends up bent or broken, and my Gump is more often than not loaded with my camping gear! I think that a high wing that is about half the height of that blue car example you showed would look really good on Forrestor G. Ride height looks really good it no longer looks like a grocery getter w the too high rear end. Thus my comment about the wing, keep the car low/level but add a somewhat tall wing to give it some rear end attitude. I hope the test drive went well, I wanted more at the end of this vid so I can learn how coil overs work.

  • @MrElectroman3
    @MrElectroman3 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I believe the dimensions of the rear fenders are different than the front, that is why clearance appears to be less in the rear. I have the same issue with my 04 forester on STI struts/springs. There exist a product called "saggy butt spacers" that you install between the rear struts and the vehicle to fix that appearance issue.

    All of the suspension hardware that is securing a rubber bushing, needs not be tightened until the car is sitting on its own weight, at ride height. you could simulate this with a jack, if you plan ahead and get a reference as to what normal ride height is, then adjust it for what it will be. the reason why this matters, is that at ride height, the bushing will be "centered" and then twist only so far in either direction of suspension movement. if you leave it the way it is, then at ride height the bushings are already stressed as if the suspension is compressed, then when you hit a bump, the bushings get twisted farther then they were ever designed to go. This pre-twist, will also be helping induce the car to sit higher, as the bushings are trying to constantly twist back to center, they are also helping lift the car so to speak. you will need to examine the bushings well, as they may already be damaged and need replacement.
    What model lift is that? Now that you have had it for a while, would you recommend it, or would you find other reasons that other lifts have things you would recommend? I am considering the harbor freight one, but i would like to hear what you think of this lift. I ave the option to connect a lift to 120 or 220. I would like it to be portable, something i can store flat up against a wall when not in use.
