I just love them. My grandson is going to get him one in a couple of years he saved money for 5 Acres. He's getting a llama. I can't believe it's April 6th where you're at and it's snowing I'm in Florida. And it's hot thanks for your videos I really enjoy them
This is so adorable...haters gonna hate I guess because if somebody is going to give this a thumbs down then that is the only explanation there could be!
I enjoy your videos very much. Thank you for taking the time to make them. I really gain quite a bit of knowledge from you. I had visited 'alpaca's of Oregon' for mothers day this year and absolutely fell in love. I now dream of having my own some day, so your video's have been super helpful to educate me before taking the plunge! Thank you
Thank you for sharing your alpacas! I have never seen them in this light nor have ever been around them. Beautiful animals!! I watch Dr Pol, vet, on TV and heard their spit STINKS! Lol!! Thanks again!!❤
Thank you. To my way of thinking this beats tv/netflex any day. Love those guys & even though alpacas/llamas (and many others). are a part of the fiber world these days I never new anything about the alpacas till your vids came along. You're doing such a good job. Hope your store is coming along well & keep up all the good work you do also agriculturally/politically etc.
Hi, Tashia! Thanks for another interesting podcast. Quick question - does it ever happen that an alpaca doesn't ever integrate successfully with the rest of the group? Do you then have to find a new home for him her? Just wondering...! Thanks again for your podcasts, I look forward to seeing them pop up!!!
It can happen. It might just be a matter of creating smaller groups to change the herd dynamics where everyone finds their place. Sometimes it doesn’t work out and you need to re-home them. It’s just a matter of finding the right environment for some.
@@ButterfieldAlpacaRanchThank you! always wondered in your case you were lucky to have it there or place your barn near one. LOL In the video I saw later a lake and they were drinking but clean water on a hot day is what I'd want.
I would not physically get in between them to break up a fight. You are bound to get hurt! There is a hierarchy of the herd and this is one of the primary ways that they figure out the social order. There have been times that I've sprayed them down with a hose to interfere but they are just going to do it again later when I'm not around. If they are equally matched alpacas, let them work it out. Be sure to have their fighting teeth trimmed to minimize damage to one another. If you have a male that is not able to stand up for himself, either because of size or nature of personality, separate him from the instigator.
@@ButterfieldAlpacaRanch In other words let nature take its course LOL Thanks for taking the time to answer, I love learning about them and enjoy your videos so much.
They can. Boys have pointy teeth in the back of their upper jaw that we call fighting teeth. Those can do a lot of damage so we trim the tip off to make them blunt. I haven’t had issues with injuries from fighting or playing among my herd.
Not a reply just a question for you, do you think that alpacas make good guide animals as they have soft feet,so,thay would be able to go inside?maybe get them booties for when atwork4,guiding please let me know if I would be able to get one fora guideand I don’t mind that that smell like popcorn. Vanessa
I don’t know that they would be good as guide animals. I’ve never heard of alpacas being used in that way. That job usually requires that they bond to you and that’s not a good situation with alpacas. Plus, they’d just want to eat all the time 😆
@@ButterfieldAlpacaRanch So the girls don't have those "fighting teeth"? Never heard of that! I'm watching all your videos learning about alpacas as I hope to get my own next year. You have a wealth of information. Thanks for sharing!

They are just adorable.

When they are playing they look like Grover from Sesame Street! Too cute
That was fun. Thanks, Tashia!
That was a pleasure to watch.

That is great to hear. Yes, it is so easy to fall in love with these extraordinary creatures. I'm glad you are here! 😊

😊 And yes, their spit really does stink. 🤢
1:20... your alpaca boys sound like my 7th grade boy students! Play can go to a fight so fast. Then the next day they are buddies again! 🤪
😂 great insight!
Great video, so interesting 😍

Thank you so much Kathy 😊
I was wondering if you could do a video on the alpaca pools thanks
As in, how to use the pools to keep the alpacas cool?

another question how do you get water out there where it is remote??
Water has been plumbed from the well to the boys barn. There is a hydrant next to the barn.

Furry dinosaurs in the new age.
Just wondering what would happen if you tried to intervene during their fights?

I find that it would be nicer if you just left them to sort it out themselves, dominate tion
Do they ever hurt each other?

Some girls do but, in general, no. All males do and will hurt each other with them. Girls don’t fight like the boys do. At least, not mine
