    My goal in my TH-cam channel is to show my audience interesting items, and make interesting videos that shed some light on what can be the best EDC items you can add to your every day carry.
    I also on occasion will restore pocket knives and multi tools, and in many cases I do make videos on these restorations!

    I have the Evolution S17 and love it. I find it is lighter and more compact in my pocket than the comparable and much longer and slightly thinner Huntsman, and the locking blade makes it a proper knife for robust knife work.

    Love mine. I call it the bumblebee. Of course there are probably better options out there. But the looks of this one also is a carry factor, for me. 😁

    My S18 has served me well over the past 7 years. Back then I only paid 23 bucks. Recently I thought about purchasing the Fieldmaster because I was under the impression that it was just a larger version of the s18 with locking blade, but that's not the case. It's similar to the s18, but I'm not a fan of non-locking folding knives

    I have the EVO17. I like the tool set better than the EVO18, in that the corkscrew holds the micro screwdriver for glasses. I find the rubber grip inserts cling inside pants pockets a plus, as the knife doesn't slip out and get buried under the couch cushions, or lost in "the forbidden zone" inside a recliner. I like the EVO design, it seems to fit my hand better than standard Vic 91mm. I'm glad Victorinox picked it up, wish Vic kept the reverse cutting Wenger can opener though because it had a larger cutting surface and I can really zip the tops of cans faster.

    Great review, and thanks for the better look at the lock, most people skip right over that.

    Could be mistaken: scissor blades are self-sharpening. Great toolset, lock, non-slip handle, sized right. I do own one.

    Fieldmaster has the disadvantage of not locking. For safety reasons, it’s best to have a safety locking mechanism. And for bushcraft, if you have a Cold steel shovel, you do need a solid Phillips head screwdriver so you replace the wood handle, should it break during use.

    • @yoongiwifeinthenextlife
      @yoongiwifeinthenextlife ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah, sorry, this does have a philips screwdriver, but on the T instead of on the end, which is awkward. Must be harder to place it on the end, or you would think Victorinox would use that design more often, as it’s the design people actually like.

    The Fieldmaster is one of my favorites as well, which is why I was looking forward to your thoughts on this one. I like the knife, and I wouldn't even mind the weight of it, but it does seem a little over priced for what it is. Who knows, I might just say to hell with it and get one anyway. 😂 Cheers, buddy!

    I’ve always been intrigued by that model… I’m glad Goondocks let you check it out… based on the tools that are on it, and having a locking blade, I would totally get one! (I also love the color yellow!?

    Que bacán, esta lindisima, su cortaplumas amarilla y negra combinación cromatica atractiva y acompañado de un diseño moderno, totalmente diferente de la cortaplumas suiza normal, que no es nada mala, no obstante, la suya es maravillosa, despertadora de envidias. yo tengo un cortaplumas parecido pero de color clasico rojo y sin tantas herramientas, como la suya. I just got a red S18. It has no locking mechanism, but on the flipside it's still on the tiny side, fully EDC. I am not sure the grip will be as sticky as mentioned, it's not sticky out of the box.
    I was looking for a SAK with well made scissors and saw blade and the S18 checks both boxes. A cork screw SAK this day and age is nonsense, most wine is screwcaps or you are somewhere where there's a corkscrew.
    I like SAKs also because of the tiny pincers, when you grow cacti 🌵or need to remove splinters outdoors these are super useful. I'll try to mod the toothpick with embedding a needle next, could come handy to treat blisters etc.

    the saw is more of a Notching tool for bushcraft projects, I agree it's no a very effective saw for actually cutting stuff down, I never carry an SAK without a saw in my EDC.

      So I managed to get maybe the last piece in the world that could be ordered online. Though i payed a ridiculous import fee and tax for that one, because the shop was in USA while i'm in Europe and they did not want to ship any order smaller than $200, so i had to buy things i didn't need and pay fees for them too.

    I believe that the scissors are supposed to be self-sharpening.

    • @markcoffman494
      @markcoffman494  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I’ve been told that over the years but I just truly do not believe it. I’ve had probably 80 Wenger knives and over the time I’ve had them the scissors never cut that well. And for them to be self sharpening I don’t believe it. Thank you so much for the comment I didn’t include that because there’s a lot of debate around that feature.

      @@calisthenicsnoob9990 sounds very unlike a Victorinox Knife. Sounds more like user error. Just depends on what you are cutting with it. The steel that they use is definitely not what you would consider a super steel so when it comes to use it is primarily made to do very light duty tasks.
