    In my L322 i have bass farting logic 7 speaker. I hope that this video will show me how to solve the problem

    Thanks for this guide Sam, just done mine to fix a buzzing driver's side woofer which it has done and added a nice little upgrade too.
    I reused the butyl strip between speaker and plastic mounting cage which peeled off in one piece so 'why not?' and also glued back the foam circles to the front of the Audisons whilst the glue gun was hot.
    Space where the tweeter crossovers go is a bit tight on refitting because of the loom going to the mirrors but a firm push and the grill covers sit okay again. I left out the tweeter mount cups and glued directly to the foam 'sails' which gave me a bit more room to angle the tweeters up further.
    Great video, thanks for the tips.

    @abdurrashid 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    I believe you got a low reading on the highs is because many tweeters are directional. The mic was sitting quite low, if it was around your head hight it would’ve picked up the higher frequency.
    Tweeters and mids are best placed on the A pillar or on the dash if you really want sound quality.

    On my l322 i had to change the lower front woofers as the glue breaks on them. Once i did that i upgraded the subwoofer as the standard one cant keep up with the rest of the system. I also have that mic and use a dsp witha few amps in my p38. The mic works best placed between the headrest and the top of the seat as it needs to be located where your ears are to be accurate.

    Nice one Sam. I've copied almost every mod you've done on your Rangie. Although mine is the 5.0L SC 2011. I recently did the Idcore mod and I love having Apple CarPlay in my car. It's totally transformed it. It even changed my mind from upgrading to an L405. I agree with your opinion about the speakers being mediocre. New Audison speakers are on order! Sound matting is a good idea too. Looking forward to see what you do to the sub. Mine is very sub par.

    I think the original oil recommended by LR was due to the cars being used in all climates - if you live in a really cold climate then maybe avoid changing from recommended - in Ireland and the UK - you are far less likely to have an issue with the change

    • @SamsMotors
      @SamsMotors  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Possibly... although the winter rating (5W) is the same for both oils, it's just the hot oil rating that's higher viscosity, which wouldn't really be affected by the weather. I think the main reason 5W30 was chosen was for economy and environmental reasons.

    Interesting watch. Although a much older system it's amazing how much of the design is the same as the P38. I've just finished going through the ICE system on my P38, 1x tweeter, 1x mid and 1x bass in each front door, 1x mid and 1x bass in each rear door and 1x twin speaker sub in the boot. Aside from having issues with the amp most of my sound problems were related to having seized bass speakers in the doors. The cones wouldn't move freely making the whole system sound thin. The foam speaker rings on both my sub speakers had also completely disintegrated too so i sourced replacement foam rings and rebuilt them. But the way the speakers are mounted in the L322, even down to the base speaker mounts, are almost identical.

    • @SamsMotors
      @SamsMotors  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Very cool! I may do a similar upgrade on my own P38 if I end up keeping it.

    Remember that you don't want higher powered high end. Lows will need more power and less the higher up you go.
    So what your looking for is a nice even decent from lows to highs
    Any sudden peaks or troughs is what your trying to tackle.
    To my eyes reducing that 800 slightly and brinig up that trough slightly will vastly improve
    That dip is probably a crossover point

    As an L322 owner that has the "HD" logic 7, You should do a side by side comparison of each! It would help me know whether to upgrade what I have. Also i'm really looking forward to seeing your subwoofer upgrade as that's the weakest part of the system IMO. Thanks for making my L322 ownership so much more enjoyable!

    • @SamsMotors
      @SamsMotors  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’d love to do that! The 7 HD has quite a few improvements over the standard logic 7 but the subwoofer is the same, so it probably seems even weaker in the HD system.
      Thanks for watching 😎

    Agree with all the coments about mic placement as higher frequencies are very directional and easily absorbed by all the soft furnishings in the L322. Having said that though, it only matters if you are taking absolute measurements. If you are simply doing A/B comparisons, providing you keep the mic in the same location the comparison will be valid.
    Presumably you are running the system with the Logic 7 surround setting switched off? In that mode I'm pretty sure the system doesn't use the centre speaker in the dash or the speakers in the rear pillars. It also messes with the stereo imagery in a way that doesn't always improve the experience, if you take my meaning 😉
    The amp frequency response should be pretty flat so speakers and their installation will make the biggest difference.
    Typically the subwoofer is a compromised affair in any estate type car but particularly poor in the L322. More a case of here's the shape it has to fit into, now how can we get an amp and speaker in there!? I'm very interested to see how it can be improved without filling the boot with an old wardrobe fitted with a couple of 18's! 😄

    • @SamsMotors
      @SamsMotors  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cheers for the input! The tweeter height is actually at about the same height I had the microphone positioned, although they do fire upwards slightly. I also took some measurements from ear height and the difference in measured response was negligible, so I decided to use the easier position to measure from.
      It was done with Logic 7 turned off as that’s how I tend to listen to music (vast majority of music is recorded in stereo, and I don’t find the surround adds anything really.)

    Did you do anything with that poor AUX port DAC that is provided with the IDCORE system? The sound quality is poor when compared with the L322 factory installed sound system, even after playing with equaliser and phone volume. Not sure I'm up to replacing the speakers without a fix for this. Be good to know because that is the thing I dislike most about the IDCORE system. You were spot on in your review of the IDCORE system in pointing this out.

    • @SamsMotors
      @SamsMotors  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      No, I haven't. As a workaround, I've been using my Invery iPod socket bluetooth adapter for music, which can still be done while the phone is connected wirelessly to the Carplay module. It works and gives good audio quality, but it shouldn't be a concern on a system that costs as much as it does.

    Amps are usually very linear. Those big leather seats may act as traps for a specific frequencies that with a less than ideal mic placement can cause a dips in the graph. I would not worry though, the human brain compensates very good for such frequency imperfections.

      Hi Luca, the rear speakers are the same size. The rear doors also have tweeters behind the upper grills, so you could replace them with the Audison tweeters too if you wanted!
      Alternatively if you just want to do the woofers, they are available separately for a lower price if you search for "Audison AP 6.5".

    Hi Sam. Thank you so much for your very detailed and informative videos. Quick question - we have a 2009 RR Sport, and the drivers side treble speaker is loose from the door / window frame. As I pull it away a bit, I can see that the trim "button" / press-in anchor is broken. I don't know how to remove the treble speaker assembly to replace that one clip. Thinking you probably have some insight considering your speaker replacement experience. Do I have to remove the whole door card to remove the treble speaker housing assembly? Or is there simply a second button / press-in anchor lower in the assembly - such that I can pry / pull the assembly and get it away from the door pillar - to then change the broken "button" / press-in anchor? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
