Overview
With sci-fi exterior styling and a snazzier-looking interior, the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander is totally reimagined and looks to be a worthy entrant in the competitive compact-crossover class. Its standard three-row seating is uncharacteristic of the segment, too. The Outlander shares a platform and other components with the recently redesigned Nissan Rogue, including a 181-hp four-cylinder powertrain. Mitsubishi also enhances the Outlander's roster of features and aims to improve its driving manners compared with the outgoing version. The most notable improvements happen in the cabin, which boasts a more contemporary design and classier materials than before. Plus, there's an assortment of new connectivity features and driver-assistance technology. A plug-in-hybrid (PHEV) model will eventually join the lineup, too.

The 2022 Outlander is all-new and introduces another generation of Mitsubishi's compact crossover.

Mitsubishi says the 2022 Outlander will start just shy of $27,000 when it reaches dealerships this April. However, the company hasn't yet revealed how much the higher trim levels will cost or defined pricing for individual options and packages. Once those details are made available, we can evaluate the Outlander's value and recommend which one to buy.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The Outlander is motivated by a 2.5-liter inline-four-cylinder engine that makes 181 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque. It pairs exclusively with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). Front-wheel drive is the standard configuration, but all-wheel-drive is optional. One of the things that made the outgoing model unique compared with most other compact crossovers was its available plug-in-hybrid powertrain. We know that Mitsubishi will continue to offer it on this latest generation, but official details haven't been released. We think the PHEV's gas engine could change from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder to a large 2.4-liter unit.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
Mitsubishi hasn't said how fuel-efficient the 2022 Outlander will be in the city or on the highway. Once those official estimates are announced, and we have the opportunity to run one on our 75-mph highway fuel-economy route, which is part of our extensive testing regimen, we can evaluate the crossover's real-world mpg. Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
The new Outlander looks to have significantly nicer cabin materials compared with its predecessor, which was marred by subpar plastics and chintzy trim pieces. Not only are the interior accents and surfaces of higher quality, but the design finally qualifies as modern. Likewise, there's an assortment of contemporary content that includes an available 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a head-up display. Mitsubishi also says it has made the Outlander's interior feel more spacious, improved outward visibility, and increased its maximum cargo capacity from 66 cubic feet to 80. It also continues to have standard three-row seating, making the Outlander one of the two compact crossovers with seating for up to seven passengers. The Volkswagen Tiguan is currently the only alternative.
Infotainment and Connectivity
On the infotainment front, the new Outlander offers both an 8.0- and 9.0-inch touchscreen. Along with charging ports at the bottom of the center stack, the system features hard buttons and physical knobs for volume and tuning. The Outlander also offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, and a 10-speaker Bose audio system.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
Available with driver-assistance technology that includes adaptive cruise control and a semi-autonomous drive mode, the 2022 Outlander boasts a compelling set of tech. i think this is genuinely the best looking SUV, Mitsubishi has ever designed from the front to back and the side profile all the way to the inside.. every angle looks very elegant and luxurious. I was gonna go for the outlander Sport but now i'm gonna wait for this bad boy !
Don't, as this isn't a real Mitsubishi but a Nissan Rogue with a Nissan engine and a Nissan JATCO CVT8. So in other words, looks good but the CVT will grenade under 100k miles. I've yet to see one Nissan make it to 250k miles with their terrible Xtronic CVT programming. At least Mitsubishi has much better success in JATCO CVT reliability.

I have a 2012 Nissan Sentra S with over 213,000 miles on it. Never had an issue with the original CVT. I changed the fluid every 60,000 miles as required in the owner’s manual. Nissan is capable to be reliable as Toyota and Honda. You haters should learn how to read a manual and drive a car properly and you won’t have any problems long term.

We still have our 2009 Mitsubishi Outlander XLS V6. It loaded with nav & Rockford Fosgate. We bought it brand new 12 years ago. Currently at 95,000 miles and never have us any issues. Routine maintenance was performed at local Mitsu dealer.. btw I live in Michigan & the winters are brutal here.

Finally! I'd been wondering what's taking them so long to implement the styling of the Mitsubishi SUV in the Philippines or in Asia. If they would have brought the styling in the States along time ago. Mitsubishi won't be struggling in the US. I bought my wife the 2017 Outlander. I will definitely be buying this one soon.

Don't feel bad, you have a real Mitsubishi. This new Outlander is a Nissan Rogue with a Nissan powertrain. Nissan CVTs are garbage. Mitsubishi does much better in reliability and they use the same CVT!

Based on the Nissan Xtrail/Rogue platform... I assume it would be similar to the Renault Koleos. Hope it represents a good comeback of Mitsubishi... They have been in a downhill for a while.

just bought a used 2018 outlander phev. I never even thought of buying one until a month ago, now i'm not sure I would have bought anything else. I don't think i could find the Japanese build quality in a domestic, and not in an SUV with traction control that blows my grand cherokee away while averaging 2 to 3 litres per 100km! its so quiet, roomy and well thought out. For once, I found a vehicle that ticked off every box - efficiency, comfort, safety, reliability, value, environment, low running cost, all wheel, spacious, and loaded with software to customize. I think like me, it just isn't on the radar of most north Americans because they silently went from great cars to a great SUV and no one knows them for that. My other vehicle will shortly be traded in for a 2022 outlander phev as soon as they hit the market since i'll save $1800 in gas a year compared to the Cherokee!

For this model i am not sure, even assemble in Thailand still price will be higher than selling other countries about 3 times due to tax.
Price for Imported car is disaster for us.
(Selling in developed countries where people have more money is low price but for developing countries where many poor people are living that price is unreachable)

@@ИгорьСарапин-ъ9м так Ниссан такой и был, в 11 году приобрела... старпёрчик через 3-4 года стал сдавать... последовала версия унисекс(((... решила оценить рынок всех кроссоверов(можёров не рассматривала... не по карману)... вот тогда я познакомилась с моим "мальчиком" и пусть он уступал по ряду позиций в комплектации, но так получилось, что взяла я его выгодно... а то как он себя ведёт на дороге... я его просто обожаю))) да за несколько лет эксплуатации, это я имею ввиду не дом-офис, а нормально так... с командировками по "дорогам" России... он конечно подустал... но всё так же резв...)) В новой версии смущает дорожный просвет со стороны передка... ну и единая платформа с Ниссан... надеюсь не в худшую сторону изменения...
