  • Arkansas crystal mining at its finest! Today’s video takes us to the privately owned (not open to the public) Quartz City Crystal Mine In the Ouachita Mountains near Mount Ida, Arkansas. Join Dana and Dominik as they find outstanding Iridescent Quartz and mine many gem quality quartz crystal clusters and clear crystal points.
    This mine is not open to the public at all under any circumstances, so please respect that.
    This was my favorite video yet to produce, edit and share with you all and I want to again extend my deepest gratitude to Quartz City Mines for allowing me this opportunity. Smash that like and subscribe button and we may get a second episode at this location!

    Aloha crystal family!!
    Thanks so much for watching! This is my favorite video to make for you all so far!
    This mine is completely private and does not allow visitors and it does not offer digs to the public at all. Thank you for your understanding and for being respectful to the owners!
    Many crystalline blessings!

    What many people don't realize is how many thousands of perfect points from a few mm's up to several inches will be in all that clay. One day at the mine i went around to all the boulders with faces covered in a few inches of clay and then tons of points stuck to the super thin plate connected to the sandstone. I filled a 5gal bucket up ⅔ with clay from the faces of a bunch of the stones i mentioned. I ended up with a 2 gallon ziplock bag more than half full with thousands of water to glass quality points! 🎉

    Love all of those clusters and points!! The iron coating is quite beautiful, and I'm glad you left some in their natural state. They look stunning all cleaned up, but at the same time, I liked them with the coating too... I was torn. I think I saw Justin B. have some that were very similar with that kind of coating a couple of months ago, and now I wondered if they were from the same location. Tell both Jennifer and Punky hello, and I look forward to your announcements about some public digs for later this year. :)

I moved to the Crystal vortex area and I didn't even know that they were here. I experienced tragedy and knew I wanted to leave state and start fresh. I drove miles to get here. I'm straight devine feminine and I'm in home and house I'm not a driver. But I followed my spirit guides here. I'm looking for like minded humans to connect with as I don't know anyone here. It's just me and my higher self and spirit masters.

      Several mines have iridescent Quartz. It’s also known as Solaris Quartz or natural earth aura. They are sometimes mislabeled as golden healer Quartz, which those are actually yellow even after an oxalic acid treatment.

    What do you do with crystals and do you pay the mine owner for your finds? excellent job guys

    • @CrystalsofArkansas
      @CrystalsofArkansas  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you!
      Yes there was a fee involved. Both Dana and I sell some crystals and also collect.

      @@CrystalsofArkansas I love the raw colours of some of the clusters :) well done

    Those are some of the nicest clusters I've seen. So let me ask you, what happens to them? Does the mine owner keep them or do you? Do you have an arrangement to sell them and each of you gets a percentage? I'm in absolute awe of those finds.

      That is a lot of personal questions right there 😉
      I will have some of these for sale tonight in my shop and Dana also sells crystals from this location!

    Arrowhead Mine? Might be called something different now. I heard Matt sold it. I was there in 2007 and found amazing crystals. He let us work on the main wall after opening some pockets with the track hoe.

      High cliffs mine.
      Arrowhead is another location and is now in operation under new management and under the name Avatar Mine.

      @CrystalsofArkansas I had heard that Matt had sold the mine. He was a character, but he could be really nice. He brought us to his home and property. Showed us all of his specimens out on the cleaning racks. He used the method of hosing off the clay and then letting it dry until it formed cracks (in the clay) along the faces of the crystal, allowing water to get between the two and eventually popping out all of the clay after multiple treatments. He also had a cut in half old home fuel oil tank set up with a fire ring underneath that he would use to treat large batches with oxalic acid. He had this amazing blue phantom cluster the size of 2.5x2.5x3 foot boulder. Was amazing. He let us into his private specimen closet inside his main display room and gave me a cool piece of wavelite with a big botryoidal cluster. Was a great trip.

    As beautiful as they are after being acid washed, and perfectly clear, I think I like them better with the coating of manganese.

    • @CrystalsofArkansas
      @CrystalsofArkansas  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They do look nice dirty when they are fresh and wet but when they dry out, they loose some of the appeal.
      I didn’t clean any of the ones with iridescence of course! I am a sucker for dirty Quartz anyways lol
