This video is years old at this point but youtube decided to show it so here's some FAQs! Q: Are these phones still for sale? A: No, these phones were sold a long time ago. Q: Where can I buy one? A: Zenmarket! (a proxy service for yahoo Japan which is essentially Japanese ebay. Yes you can buy from there even if you don't live in Japan.) Q: Do they work in the US? A: You need a special sim card and for it to be unlocked but yes. Q: How do I unlock it? A: They need to be unlocked either by docomo or a paid unlocking service. (Sorry I don't have any I can recommend) Q: Can I run (x) app? Q: How do I charge it/ where do I get a cable? A: Docomo phones have special cables. They sell pretty cheap on zenmarket. A: These phones don't have access to the america app store so many common US apps are not available for download. Q: Can I use the internet? A: I don't believe so but I'm not sure. I believe you need a working sim card to do anything internet-related. Q: How much do they cost? A: A fully unlocked one runs about $200-$250, but if you're willing to do the research into sim cards and unlocking, you can get locked ones from Japan for about $20-$50.
Kinda nerd fact: the phenomenon of Japanese flip phones still having significant market share (and Japanese technology being rather unique to Japan in general) is called the Galapagos syndrome.
@@41tinman41 Exactly. I have and old school taste for many things but i see there are lot of people sharing the same opinion. The new smartphones are boring, unneccessarily packed with features i dont care about that just raise the price( 3 back cameras, 1 cm thick who cares) and they all look same. There’s flips still out there, I’m thinking about getting the acatel flip 3, it has TH-cam and google maps as well as WhatsApp, so you’re not going totally off the grid.
We had a lot of old phones in a drawer and there was like this Samsung flip phone. Unfortunately, all I got was Nokia keyboard phones, bit there were fun regardless

@@shacorraboyd9026 hey, i had to contact a website called Kyoex and send the phone to the guy in japan directly to be unlocked, paid like an extra 100 something

Hey! Just bought the Q-pot docomo flip phone and was wondering how much its worth/how much you sold yours for since the links are gone? I'm in Canada so I have a 3g network that will work with it, and I dont plan on selling it anytime soon. But it's really hard to find so I dont see many listing of it here ever. Thanks!
You can email or message Bruce on Aibo-Life.org and mail your battery to him in California if you live in the US, and he charges about $85 iirc. I don't think there are any options outside the US, unfortunately. :/
do you know where i can get the charger for the docomo bow phone? i live in the us and dont know if i need a specific cable ! i'd really appreciate any help pls!!
Can they send you info by holding your phone to another persons phone?? I’ve been wondering this for awhile but could never find out if it’s just in anime. 😂
I have F02D and ive been looking for a battery because mine last 8 hrs whether or not im using it. I was thinking if there's a special battery for ot that'll last more than a day? Pls? Its been a decade.
It sounds like you just have an old battery. A good one should last about a week on standby. I'm not sure about the specs but kyoex.com sells replacement docomo ones! That's the only place I'm aware of where you can get new batteries.
@@therobotspa my phone is F-02D and its 2012 model. Do you think its the battery or its just old model? I really like this phone despite its price. :(

If anything, they need to make a splash in the global market. Regular smartphones are boring despite how technologically advance they've become.

or what SIM card will I have to buy in USA?
Does ANYONE know what kind of SIM card I could get to make it work in the USA?

what do you mean when you say theyre locked??
