That was our plan (drift the whole circuit, illegally, on TF) but apparently the viral stunt was performed better earlier this year so... back to the drawing board.
You are quite correct. We didn't clarify it because we thought people would get it. This is by no means an ultimate lap. The car is VERY powerful. It has the STOCK original shocks with lowering springs and the stock brake system. To say it is handful is... an understatement. We would also like to give Zannos shit and enjoy the 'coasting'-brigade but if you follow enough you know the guy can drive. Stick around and we will eventually sort the car and trust us, if it doesn't bankrupt us completely, some cool things are coming in the future!
This sounds like it needs to be pinned as a separate comment. On the other hand, these comments shouldn't mean you should have to jump to defend Zannos, but rather people should learn not to jump the gun and do the old keyboard faceroll. Unfortunately, this is a Nordschleife video, and this is the Internet!
With this lovely thing running around the Nordschleife, you might just be right! Also, I really hope the project goes well, και εύχομαι να σου δώσει όση χαρά όσο τη δουλειά που μπαίνει.
Good driving mate, very sensible and fast. It's not always bad to coast, especially at 200+. Better than being on the throttle right until the braking zone and driving on the limit for no reason. You get to get out there and have a great day and not push so hard you are going to crash. Worst thing to do when you have a car with so many hours put into it is write it off. Car looks like very well sorted and lots of fun. All the best, happy racing!
Can I just add some extra sauce here...? The gearing of the RX7 can deceive the viewer and lessen the whole viewing experience. Just for reference, for the inexperienced with the gearbox of the car, 4th gear at the limiter makes for 220 - 230kmh. The S2K needs 6th gear to reach that, which means 2 extra gear changes, which means more action and more fun. What can be perceived as coasting is actually approaching the corner with something between 180 - 200 kmh and thinking whether the barrier will hold the car or the Dorito will go deer hunting in the Eiffel mountains, if the brakes block!!!
Yea I always wondered that. People say rotary/rotaries? are meant to rev but FD's have such long gearing. You'd think they would atleast put a smaller final drive from the factory. Is it a common mod?
The gearing has nothing to do with how he drives. The car has more than enough power, you can see that every time he closes in on the S2000 or pulls away from it. The aerodynamics also look like it give the car more than enough grip around the corners. He really just utilises about half of the capabilities his car has, nothing more and nothing less. Talking about the gearing here is just a bad excuse.
Thankfully theres no distracting Dubstep or any music at all. I had this playing while I was driving....obviously not watching but listening to the beautiful symphony of the 13B.....and the BOV sounds
Ah the FD and the S2000 on torque and power bands, both are fairly similar cars due to everything on the top end. Both require an intermerdiate or advanced type of driver to completely take advantage of the both car's excellent handling and beefy power figures. I can see that the S2000 seems to have a better suspension setup and the FD playing it safe by keeping it on a stable racing line. I'd say if both cars have the same power figures, suspension and tires, it'd be an equal match to one another and the result will be put into the hands of which car has the better driver. For a stock suspension FD, the driver played it safe, going for consistensy instead of pushing the car into a limit where it might get unstable in mid or near exit in corners. If he can do a solid time on a stock suspension, on a set up aftermarket suspension he'll be... yeah.. Kudos and Great Driving Thanks for posting this 👌
OneLapHeroes I'll watch it again and try not to look at the front view. I'm pumped to watch your laps. Please post as many as you can. Did you know that the FD RX-7 was developed on the NüR ? When they got it back to Japan, they quickly realised that at low speeds the intake system would suck air from the inside of the engine bay, through the intercooler thus heating up the intake air and the intercooler. This is why the later version nose-cone has the 'letter box' slot cut into it, to allow fresh air in from in front of the car.
the fd has longer gear ratios while the s2k has shorter more aggressive gears making it look like there's more action to it but the difference in speed has little gap. however, the s2k's shorter gears make it possible to maintain high in revs and power.
Because the s2k is using supercharger while the rx7 use turbo that will produce so much torque which make it hard to handle in the corner. Supercharger is really useful in the road like this because the power delivery curve is almost same like n.a engine
@@ipo7596 it is because the rx7 are using turbo while the s2k are using supercharger. But, as you mention , shorter gear is one of the factor that contribute to the faster cornering too.
S2k is more fast in the corner while rx7 is more fast at the straight line. This is because that s2k is using supercharger which make it more easy to handle since the power delivery curve is almost same like naturally aspirated engine. While that rx7 is at disadvantage because that car is using turbo which is pretty bad since turbo will give you so much torque that will make the car more harder to control. Balance = supercharger, Drag race = turbo. Supercharger give more benefit in the road like this. Low torque mean you can open up the throttle more when exit a corner

For everyone who says someone should teach him to rev match the only way that successfully worked for me was to enter any turn at a good speed and quickly brake and rev match and downshift it’s a process like heel and toeing but you give it a lil rev and quickly brake and let go when you know what rpm to let go at idk it’s complicated but maybe he should try that
We've given a serious answer above but we will try to politely explain once more! Car is 400-450 hp with stock brakes and suspension. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE! Driver knows it fully well and is driving around that but he is not playing around. A quick check at the acceleration rate, when he is full throttle, will explain why he can stay buried at times. (Because he would arrive at the next braking zone with 50 km/h more)
@@OneLapHeroes not being funny, but why has it got much more power but no brakes or suspension upgrades, especially if hitting the Nurburgring? GO ROTARY! 8)
Right. If you keep lifting off the throttle like that your going to induce a lift off drift inadvertently at the wrong time. That's a novice approach. Increase your aero effects and throttle through more to demand more traction through your corners. Not lift off and reduce traction as much as possible through coners. The road will bite you eventually.
Domenic... we know you mean well but the driver is more experienced than the comment section thinks. The car is on stock suspension and brakes and needs some work before someone could push with confidence. Especially if you aren't familiar with the 'Ring that is probably the worst track to tackle in a car like this. What you see is a driver driving around the limitations of the car and taking it easy at places that the risk is high.

We really laughed out (loud) with the whole rant! Happy you eventually enjoyed. All cars can be good cars. The S2000 is a sorted car with a couple of hundred laps in and a good working setup. The FD is a new car for us and EVERYTHING other than the engine needs work. (Stock suspension, stock brakes e.t.c.) The S2k in current form is faster even though the FD has, as you said, roughly 100 hp more. Again, this is just two friends enjoying the cars and the track. This are both 'our' cars.
OneLapHeroes the advantage the fd has on the s2000 in any race is so much yet the s2000 can keep up with fds that have tuns more power, just watch the hot version races with the js racing s2000 and the feed fd, those are the two fastest cars on the touge, the feed fd has 450hp, and 4.77 final drive, while the j’s s2000 has 350hp and a 4.1 final drive, and both cars weigh about the same, the s2000 is at a huge disadvantage but it still manages to tie with fd for the win, really shows how great the car truly is.
You may go about living your life, enjoying it. As you normally do, you head to the grocery store one casual Sunday. You walk in to buy some groceries and get out. As you're leaving, THERE IT IS IN THE MEATY PART OF YOUR RIGHT HAND THUMB! THE TINY RED MARK! You FEEL the radiating pain at first, as your cells are destroyed chemically and that's what draws your attention to it in the first place! You've also noticed for the past several years that people are 'very quick' with their movements and motions of their hands and bodies and in that split second you heard them make a noise you had also felt a small prick among your skin. There are real things like this that are happening through out the population and people are dying because of it. I'm not sure how much time I have left, myself. As, I have the tiny red needle mark in the meaty part of my right hand thumb as of today! There is a rapid pulsing of pain that is constant. There are poisoners among us, who live among us, who dine and drink among us! They poke your face, they poke you everywhere. They live below you, above you in bunkbeds. They live beside you and argue amongst each other to try and draw you attention so you can't see their poison exchanges from the deliverer after they come back from picking up their supplies of poison. They are real.
Those criticising the driving seem to forget, that above the traffic, stock brakes and suspension; that there's also a passenger in the car, who the driver is responsible for while out on the lap. There's no way anyone with their head screwed on would risk their own, their passengers and others people on the track's life trying to take Schwendenkreuz, Mutkurve or the Foxhole at 10/10's during a busy TF session.
My only complaint really, is that he is not rev-matching his downshifts. This is very dangerous. I heard dim rev-match once, which shows he knows how, but isn't doing it for all the downshifts. Have to learn how to heel-toe, or the sidefoot, etc.
Well the engine has been put together by a Greek person, who has a thing for rotary engines and does all the work from his home. That's why he is calling it Rotary Secret Garage.

Swsta, swsta!
Regardless of what the clock says that looks like a proper awesome driver experience!
That is the spirit...
so finally the heating issues are solved? one last electric gremlin? or electronically patzawura? kostas gonna work it out!
Heating issues solved alright!! The gremlins are there unfortunately !
weird wires? loom of doom? circuit won't work it?
all the best for sorting this out.
Quel bonheur ce moteur Rotary !!! super merci pour ce tour énorme
Loved the video, don't get me wrong, but that camera work was questionable. Need a mount like that rear cam.
That turbo comes on HARD.
For everyone who says someone should teach him to rev match the only way that successfully worked for me was to enter any turn at a good speed and quickly brake and rev match and downshift it’s a process like heel and toeing but you give it a lil rev and quickly brake and let go when you know what rpm to let go at idk it’s complicated but maybe he should try that
Struggle to handle the power in the rx7. Great video !
We are only getting it faster (and more sorted) next year!
WATCH THIS VIDEO BELOW ON HOW AN RX7 SHOULD BE DRIVEN:
th-cam.com/video/ZJqILLdJ8sc/w-d-xo.html
No argument there, that is a nice lap from the car and owner sir :)
We hope you understand that the lap you are linking is considerably slower...
wow, this is good.. may I know how much it's producing in this video? cant wait for proper tune on handling and etc so driver can put full power down
Something between 400-450 should be right :)
Nice vid you can tell you need to do some adjustments though. You coasted on corners so you wont lose traction and spin out
S2000 🤤F1 inspired...
S2K digging into the turns with daggers
RX-7 like a duck on ice...sounding like one too.
Why are you coasting into every turn?
We've given a serious answer above but we will try to politely explain once more!
Car is 400-450 hp with stock brakes and suspension. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE!
Driver knows it fully well and is driving around that but he is not playing around.
A quick check at the acceleration rate, when he is full throttle, will explain why he can stay buried at times. (Because he would arrive at the next braking zone with 50 km/h more)
On top of that the car has an external wastgate and you pretty much only hear the WOT inputs on the audio.
They see me coasting.... they hating....! :P
ade re malaka!
😂😂😂
@@OneLapHeroes not being funny, but why has it got much more power but no brakes or suspension upgrades, especially if hitting the Nurburgring? GO ROTARY! 8)
Unfortunate camera angle I did that once by mistake at a track day too.
what happened to the digital dash at 6:40? it's like it blinked out and restarted or something???
btw. RAD video. so happy to see this car get around the ring!
I'm curious as to what happened at 4:03 can anyone explain?
Wait.... Are you holding down the clutch in the corners and in braking zones?
Wow! I think this is way to advanced for me man. I think I'll just stick to coasting for now.
Domenic... we know you mean well but the driver is more experienced than the comment section thinks.
The car is on stock suspension and brakes and needs some work before someone could push with confidence.
Especially if you aren't familiar with the 'Ring that is probably the worst track to tackle in a car like this.
What you see is a driver driving around the limitations of the car and taking it easy at places that the risk is high.
Watch the rear view mirror 8:09
Those flames though.
Good driving skills from both sides
Is the rx7 running a microtech ecu? Nice driving by the way cant wait to see the car with proper brakes and suspension. Brap brap boys
That thing is a spaceship!
Nope third gen RX-7. From a Japanese company called Mazda.
@@OneLapHeroes 🤣🤣🤣 I like your way that answering
The buttons on the steering wheel are for boost control?
There is a 'give me more boost/push to pass' button on the steering wheel...
(The driver normally shouldn't touch it on the Nordschleife)
One is for flashing lights and the other one is for more boost indeed! As you can clearly see at some point, I have no idea what I am pushing, so I hit both, hoping for the best! #trustmeiknowhatiamdoingNOT
@@kzannos haha nice.Beautiful fd mate.Have fun with it.
@OneLapHeroes What is the left steering wheel button?
Great sound!!!
doritos power sounds sooo sexy
Might be a badass car, but needs a definite driver mod. Looks like me behind that wheel
On a highly modified rx7 like this, are suspension arms modified or can they handle the extreme high G forces?
Completely stock suspension. (Just some lowering springs)
Suspension updates and a full video hopefully next year.
i am pretty sure you can go much faster and balls to the walls with that capabilities of the car man
We can easily understand how you can be pretty sure...
Multiple laps with an FD around the 'Ring, correct?
still a cool video though your car sounds great
We really laughed out (loud) with the whole rant! Happy you eventually enjoyed.
All cars can be good cars. The S2000 is a sorted car with a couple of hundred laps in and a good working setup.
The FD is a new car for us and EVERYTHING other than the engine needs work. (Stock suspension, stock brakes e.t.c.)
The S2k in current form is faster even though the FD has, as you said, roughly 100 hp more. Again, this is just two friends enjoying the cars and the track. This are both 'our' cars.
OneLapHeroes the advantage the fd has on the s2000 in any race is so much yet the s2000 can keep up with fds that have tuns more power, just watch the hot version races with the js racing s2000 and the feed fd, those are the two fastest cars on the touge, the feed fd has 450hp, and 4.77 final drive, while the j’s s2000 has 350hp and a 4.1 final drive, and both cars weigh about the same, the s2000 is at a huge disadvantage but it still manages to tie with fd for the win, really shows how great the car truly is.
still gave the vid a thumbs up it’s a really good one hahaha
3:12 thats why we dont put second gear in this track...
Are you sure your timing is right?
That digital display in the dash is pretty awesome. Anyone know the make and model so I can learn more about it?
You can find all details at www.plex-tuning.com . This specific model is the SDM500 + GPS.
@@kzannos Thanks buddy, I appreciate it.
Just had a thought....this car would be badass with a DCT trans.
Great driving! What dash are you using?
They are real.
who makes that shifter knob?
That is custom made! :)

Rotory Terror🎌
So many things that could be said here! Maybe another video with the story behind the lap?
at 2.20min the porsche says clearly, will drift elsewhere hahahahaah
That sounds so good! Who has build that RX-7?
Well the engine has been put together by a Greek person, who has a thing for rotary engines and does all the work from his home. That's why he is calling it Rotary Secret Garage.
What Spoiler is on the RX7?
Great cars, great driving.!
Popcorn is ready🤩
Sit down and enjoy the Brap-ing.
what's the purpose of pressing those two buttons on the steering wheel?
NOS! He needs at least two bottles and at least two buttons.
RX7 could have pushed a bit harder. He had the power but not control the or was afraid to push harder. Co-driver said he wants to go home🤦🏽♂️
One more time, although explained thoroughly in the comments (and previous vids). The car is on stock suspnesion and brakes. Driver is just being sensible. Co-driver was joking. He actually had a blast and can't wait to be back!
