So awkward. I drive a lil 2liter Mercedes CLA 250 on a 10k mile service interval by manufacturer. I have stuck to it and now at 116k miles with no issues. Got her at 40k miles. Should I adjust my maintenance pattern?

To me doing a review on a car that got less than 60000 miles on the clock and claiming it's reliable isn't worth it for me. Car needs to be at least 100 thousand miles and see common problem and cost of maintenance out of its warranty and guarantee
Just took delivery of my Overtrail. Love it! Definitely bought the all weather rubber cargo mat to protect the interior. Agree with you about the hood flutter. On the same day I test drove the LC 250 and the GX550. After both, I found the GX to have better ride quality. Adding to that, if you change drive mode to Sport or Sport +, the suspension firms up. The undulating body is subdued, as compared to driving in Comfort of Eco mode., especially noticeable on the freeway. Looking forward to slightly better MPG after the break in period. Took it on a national park ranger trail for about 10 miles. Performed great there, and at points tipped it to 30 degrees against the trail embankments to permit other cars to pass. And most surprising is everyone’s reaction to it, which is Wow in person - neighbors, at work, Lexus customers - because it’s a lot better looking in person than in pics or videos.
I appreciate your real owner review. I owned a 2021 GX 460. Traded for a 2018 Escalade. My Escalade extended warranty will expire in April 2025. I am thinking about purchasing a 2024 GX 550.
Once you’ve had a Lexus product it’s hard to go back to a different brand. You will enjoy this one I assure you. Although, it’s not a true full size like the Escalade, it’s still fairly roomy though for its class.
If you use dealer oil, maximum is 3,000. If you want to go 10,000 miles use Amsoil Signature series, I woudnt recommend it tho. Personally I would change at 4,800 even when I use Amsoil. Redline is good too.
I’m sticking with my 2023 GX460. Maybe in the future I’ll consider the 550, when all kinks and bugs have been worked out. Definitely a few years down the road. Thanks for the video.

Hey, great vid. But uh wait what??? I googled this feature even went to the Lexus TH-cam page it’s called traffic assist and it’s limited to 30mph. You’re definitely going faster than that. Were your hands off the wheel? it’s not hands free? Only GMC, Bmw, Tesla Mercedes have that system approved? Right?
Hands off in traffic jam assist only. Can have hands off in lane keep assist for short durations. Believe that’s correct on those manufactures, except for BMW having hands free but also add in Ford with their blue cruise system.
Dewey Destin’s grilled shrimp on the dock right there is our favorite place to eat! Followed your road trip, how was cargo space compared to a sequoia? I’m split between the two.
Great report...certainly makes feel better when mine finally comes next week. I'd be curious what your thought would be using those less wide mirrors? Thanks again for the vid!🎉
The mirrors haven’t been an issue for me, especially with the blind spot monitoring system. Also, they’re nicer for narrow trails so they don’t get scratched if that’s your kind of thing!
I love my new GX but I don't like how the front windows flutter when open even on low speeds. Feels like the bolts will shake loose in a short period of time
I’m very curious to hear opinions on this car compared to a 2024/5 x5 in terms of reliability. I had an x5 years ago. Loved the driving performance. Reliability sucked and so did depreciation value. Hard to tell now because consumer reports and other mags five x5 almost #1 ranking. Just curious. Nice video thank you
I haven’t owned that year X5 so couldn’t say, also this car is so new I couldn’t comment on its reliability yet either. In general Toyota products are more reliable than BMW but with new platforms it’s impossible to say at the moment!
I have owned both and they are very different vehicles. the x5 is a smoother ride and better handling vehicle. also the engine and mpg is better in the x5. the gx550 sits up higher and is body on frame. It was too bumpy for me and I traded it in after 30 days. I had an overtrail +
I took my gx550 ot+ 4 times and they keep saying “normal”. I don’t think this normal. Tundras with the same engine doesn’t idle this rough. I’m not talking about the hybrid ones, non hybrid tundras. To me, this isn’t Lexus quality.
I was about to trade in my 2023 QX60 but then I test drove a premium +. During low speed driving around 35 to 45 mph, I noticed micro vibration coming through my seat. The salesman said he can't feel them but I definitely did. People are complaining about similar issue online. I really want to buy the GX but at 75k there shouldn't b any vibrations. Anyone else notice it?
apples and oranges, he drives an OT model, which is what I have... that drives more like a luxury jeep... its very off roady, which its what I love. its a true body on frame with off road goods straight out the factory,,. the BMW is more refined, but not as off road capable.
bmw is much better ride, handling along with better engine and mpg. GX is body on frame and an off road vehicle. if you want luxury and smooth ride, go bmw. if you want a higher seating position and off roader go gx.
Thanks for the update! I love my OT+. I’m at 2K miles and have enjoyed everything so far. I immediately noticed the carpet quality. I have an OEM rubber mat in the cargo area, but I know the carpet is going to have to be addressed at some point. The hood flutter is so minor, It’s a non-issue with me. Looking forward to more updates.
I’m torn between this, but waiting for the hybrid or going with the LC. I owned a previous gx460 and equivalent 4Runner. I like everything about the Lexus , and my service department in my town is leagues ahead of Toyota by far. I love the styling on both. Decisions decisions .
Thats one cool car to take 6,500 miles across! Love those tints! i cant stand fishbowls XD. I'm having a hard time choosing between the MDX type S or the GX550 :(
