Thanks for the tips the crankbaits are awesome I love the ones I got last year watched a couple of your other videos learned a lot keep up the great work Love the channel thanks so much for sharing caught a lot of fish doing these techniques
Hello Mike, another good video. Like a lot of other people your early videos got me trolling Lake O and Truman. Great way to put fish of many species in the boat and my young kids love it. I have to say "Thank You".
Now you're in my neck of the woods. I know that creek very well. Fish there a lot. What I don't do is troll as deep as you did. I'll have to try that. Thanks for the vid, Mike. I've enjoyed them all. Keep up the good work!
I really enjoy your videos because of your videos I started to troll for crappie on the LOZ 3 years ago. I’m definitely going to get some splatter back I do not have any of them. Sunday the 23 of May we went trolling it seemed the better fish where in 40’+ water popsicle was the color of choice it beat wild thing, chrome blue, and some others I cannot think of the names. Keep up the good work you do! Now to watch your video before this one I did not get notified from TH-cam
Earned a subscriber here! Bandit discontinued my favorite splatter back color several years ago and luckily I still had some I found on ebay. I was able to paint some of my other non producing colors to get them close. Once you have colors that consistently produce you need to buy a good stock of them just in case that color gets dropped lol
hey mike love the trolling videos. you said upper end of the lake. guessing aways from mile 13 where the condo we use is. got me a few bandits for Christmas gonna be back again in early October, hopefully not the 30's and rain we had last year. take care
Mr. Baker could you tell what rods, reels you were using in this video or the trolling rods, reels that work best for you. Action, length, gear ratio…etc
How much do you vary your speed? If you do, what determines your choice of speed other than trial and error? I saw at the beginning of the video that you listed 1.6 mph. I haven't tried crankbait trolling for crappies but plan to soon.
1.6 is my confidence speed. I start there. I will make turns and that will speed up the outside baits and slow down the inside baits. If I get hit on a turn I pay attention to whether the bait was running faster or slower and adjust accordingly. If the turns don't generate a strike, I just experiment with different speeds until hopefully I find one that works.
I've learned more about crappie fishing the Ozarks from your channel than probably anywhere else Mike. I truly thank you for putting out the effort it takes to make these. Do you think Table Rock is good for trolling crankbaits? I catch crappie other ways here but have never tried trolling crankbaits. There is quite a bit of timber around most of the places I fish for crappie. I'm sure its doable just wondering if its something you would recommend. Also- post spawn the best time or is it something I could do throughout the summer etc? Thanks again!
I have never pulled crank baits on Table Rock but I am sure you can. I would certainly give it a try. You are going to lose some baits in the timber but that is just part of it. I troll on Truman and it is full of timber. As far as when, the hotter the water gets the better.
Mike, I really enjoyed the video, you should try it on the James arm of Table Rock. I lived on LOZ around the 75mm for years and caught tons of large catfish drifting Santee Cooper style(all large ones released). Never thought to crank for Crappie. What mm were you at I didn't recognize the creek arm?
Great video Mike i dont have but a few 300s ... But i have a ton of new Rapalas of different sizes and some rebels..do you think these will catch Crappie?
Enjoy your videos and info! Are you linked to your Hummingbird unit to follow contours with your minn Kota? I don’t see you looking towards the bow much and wondered how you were keeping it on course except for the usual autopilot on the minn Kota. Hard to find any pink bandits for some reason? Probably COVID I’m assuming.
Mike, love the videos and I now watch them as soon as they are uploaded. I have a question.. I live in Virginia near some more shallow reservoirs and was wondering if I`d be better perhaps going to Bandit 100 or 200`s due to the shallower water?
Not allowed to fish that many rods in my neck of the woods. You should stop and fish an area if you catch a couple big ones . Just cast and reel crank baits or try a twister tail , minnows, or Bobby garland.
Hey Mike got a question sir..are cloudy days better than sunny days? Or does it matter ...just seems on cloudy days the crappie would be roaming more in my mind...by the way awesome vid👍
Hi Mike - I'm subscribed and been watching your channel for +2yrs. Saw you on Crappie Masters TV also. I think you now own a Bass Cat Jaguar, the Pantera 2 you're trolling in, and do you still have the SeaArk catfish boat? You know how to pick quality boats - and a quality wife!
Nice video. Looks like you had a fun day. Do you tune your crankbaits? Seems like you would have to when running all those lines so close together to avoid having a big tangled up mess.
Hey Mike: I'm watching this video and see you bending over every time you want to measure a fish. Why not attach a tape to the white tray in front of your engine? No more bending over!
Mike you make my favorite videos on youtube. Love watching your trolling videos and always excited to see a new one come out.
Mr Baker, I thouroughly enjoy your videos. You’ve made me a better fisherman. Some days.
Believe me, we all have those days when you just can’t catch them. Still better than working.
@@MikeBakerVideos id rather have a day of no catching than a good day at work 😂
Thanks Mike for all the info you share and for all the hard work it takes to make videos!

Glad your back trolling thank you for all your tips
Can’t fish with 8rods at one time, you make it look easy ! Learned something new, didn’t know you could catch crappie on a crank bait like this !
Great day on the water Mike!!!

Can you catch black crappie on crank baits?
How do you Control your deep
I don’t when flat lining. They just run at their max depth. If you want to control depth, use planner boards.
Where do you get that Crank caddy?
How much line would you say you have out? I've been letting 44' to 72' out, caught most at 52' to 72'

The way you put the rods in the holders I would loose all my rods! I put the reels between rods on the holder.
!
I like my way because it is much easier to get the rod out. I have never lost one.
I will put the reels in like you do when running from spot to spot.

@MikeBakerVideos sorry Mike one more question. Is the b and m bucks ultimate you troll with the medium action
Hey Mike, what months are good for trolling crank baits for crappie?
I generally start trolling any time the water is above about 62 degrees. The warmer the water, the better.
Where can i find these HH reels

I thought in missouri you could only have 3 lines in the water at a time?
You can have more than 3 if they are labeled with your name and conservation number, which mine are.
Who makes the crank bait box you use???
Not sure. Bought them at Tombstone Tackle in Columbia, Mo.

Yes, probably. You need a bait that will run at the depth the fish are holding at.
Outstanding video Mike! ...as usual! What is that go pro mount on your shirt? first time I've seen that,
I have a chesty under my shirt. Cut a hole in the shirt to stick the mounting bracket through .

Hey Mike: Can you tell me what mile markers/areas you like to troll on the Ozarks?
All over.
What reels are you using in ;this video
Check out the video just before this one, he talks about all of his equipment
Mike, Did you make the bracket for your rods and seat extension or did you purchase them and if so where. Thanks in advance for the info.
The rod rack was purchased from Driftmaster. The seat post is just one leg of a double seat set up.
what is your trick to not get back lashed while using baitcasters?
Have them adjusted properly.
Who makes your rod rack system and how tall is it?
Driftmaster. Not sure of the exact height but I use the longer upper supports that they make.

Thanks for the new trolling crankbaits video. Do you still have your Seaark boat?
No.

I sold the Sea Ark and added the Pantera II to go with the Jaguar. I still have the wife.
How fast were you trolling? Sorry if you mentioned and I missed it.

Do you try and stay over the deepest water or Break lines or does it make a difference?
Depends on where the fish are hanging.
How often do you run into Sand bass trolling like this? Thank you for your time and efforts in putting together these videos
We don’t have sand bass but I catch several white bass.
@@MikeBakerVideos They call them sand bass in Texas same thing.
Did you end up trying the hand painted crankbaits?
Funny story. I did and right off the bat a big catfish broke it off. The others were too pretty to risk. I will give them a try on my next outing. 😀
