  • Crappie, crappie, crappie. Cant get enough crappie. The different methods of catching crappie and we love to eat crappie. On todays G3 Sportsman, host Scott Turnage gets a lesson in a method he's unfamiliar with...pulling multiple crank baits (some may call it long lining) with Tim Howell of Long Branch Guide Service on Enid Lake in NW Mississippi.
Summer months are hard on crappie and some maybe difficult to catch. Pulling multiple cranks over a vast amount of water can trigger some bites that you may have missed in other methods. This is a fun and exciting way to catch a mess for supper and the perfect guide for this on Enid, Sardis, Grenada or Arkabutla Lakes in Mississippi is definitely Tim Howell.

Hey Scott, you sure had a good day with Tim on Enid Lake. That's called catchin crappie. That's a lot of fun, we use to do that and have a blast too. Wait till you tangle with a big cat that's cruising around . That will get your attention real fast but what a treat it is to go when you have someone with you that knows how to guide. Makes all the difference in the world. Thanks for sharing with us. Stay safe and keep em coming. Fred.

The recommendation is to use single hook so you don't hurt the fish that are under the limit. I've seen many fish on Sardis Lake MS floating wounded on the surface of water.

You won't get a Game Warden to agree that fish shrink when put on ice but it definitely does happen......I try'n only keep a inch over the legal length when putting fish on ice.....

We don't have a size limit on crappie in Arkansas.

Also curious about the poles being flat. Wouldn't a big ole cat tank one off of there?

Great video Scott. I have seen people use that style of fishing for catfishing but not for crappie. Keep on fishing because your not a very good singer LOL
