The dystopia theme relates to online hate(Scream), Cyber bullying(Boca), and social media(Odd Eye).
The nightmare series starts with “Chase Me” and “Good Night”. Then “Fly High”, “You and I”, “What”, and “Piri”.
I’m very pleased that you liked them. Unfortunately, the fan base in Korea has grown much slower than internationally. Evidently, rock/metal isn’t very popular there. On their b-sides they tend to use less rock/metal elements and touch a variety of genres. There are dance practices and live performances if you wish to see more of the dancing.

Honestly, they're getting so much popularity these days it's exciting. Finally started to get the recognition they deserve. They started to blow up since Boca era (My 2nd comeback with DC. Rose Blue being the first) and they're just growing and growing everyday so I'm extremely happy for them

DREAMCATCHER DEJA VU
MEANING:
The music video is no joke either. Clearly presenting a tragic story, the video depicts the seven members as rulers of a kingdom, with a struggle for power breaking out between JiU and Yoohyeon. The scenes between the two facing off are particularly powerful, with JiU pointing the end of a rapier at Yoohyeon, in control of her fate. She makes the decision not to execute Yoohyeon, who in turn makes the decision to stab JiU in the back and kill her. Scenes of the six girls appearing and disappearing alongside Yoohyeon, show her eventually left alone and lonely, sat atop a throne left in ruins. It’s also interesting to note that some of the choreography shots showing all seven members are set in a brightly lit room, with all of girls dressed in white, something we don’t often see with this group. The medieval themes and darker lighting used during the depictions of JiU and Yoohyeon’s struggle add another layer to the song. “Deja Vu” has a lot of different creative elements that the group hasn’t used before, but it’s executed in an astounding way.

Welcome to the Dreamworld! Dreamcatcher are very unique. They are the dark angels of Kpop and the only girl group who consistently incorporate Rock and Metal in their title tracks, fusing that with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. And while the girls look like they could rip your spine out when they are on stage, off stage they are adorable crackheads. 😉
Deja Vu is nothing short of a masterpiece. It is a beautiful, fragile ballad that kicks your teeth down your throat in the chorus. By the way, the iconic "Holding this pain" part was sung by Handong, who is from Wuhan, China (Yes, that Wuhan). She got stuck in China because of Covid, so she is missing in Scream and Boca, but she is back since Odd Eye. Deja Vu is extra difficult to sort out, because it tells the story from two perspectives. You know how even evil people think they are the good guys? This is reflected here. One perspective is Yoohyeon's, who gets corrupted right in the beginning. She thinks JiU is bad (does not want to share power) and backstabs her and kills, imprisons or banishes the other members so that she can rule alone. The other perspective is reality, where we can see JiU be kind to Yoohyeon, but she gets killed for it. It's not exactly a Deja Vu per definition, but I believe this is a commentary on the different perspectives people can have about the same event.
Scream is part 1 of the Dystopia trilogy, which is about cyber-bullying, hateful comments and people losing themselves in the (fake) online world. It is mostly showing the victim's perspective of (cyber)bullying, comparing it to a medieval witch hunt. The tree is the tree of language, and it grows black fruit for every hurtful thing people say. Note also the hand gesture, it is the devil's horns introduced by Ronnie James Dio as a symbol for metal, but it originally was a gesture in the middle ages to ward off the evil eye, tying into the witch hunt theme.
Boca means "mouth" in Spanish and Portuguese and has the lines "Why do you spend your precious time with hate" and "Too many angels dying now", which points to the effects those comments can have. Several Kpop idols have committed suicide in recent years, most likely because of cyber-bullying, but this is also about all the unnamed people who suffer from online bullies. A girlgroup tackling such a subject impresses the hell out of me. They literally go to war in this video and tell haters to go and shut their "Boca" in the lyrics. And the song is absolutely awesome! Who said you can't have three different musical genres in one song?
Odd Eye is part 3 and it talks about the fact that people can get lost in the world of the Internet and social media and their online personas can take over their life. Dreamcatcher want us to use our odd eye to see through the lies (on Facebook and others) and don't be fooled by the "lies masked in sweetness". I can only recommend to keep reacting to them, they are always interesting and entertaining! And the song is a banger!

Deja Vu was a collaboration Dreamcatcher did with Vespa for a mobile game called King's Raid. The Dystopia trilogy is all linked to the Tree of Language (the tree you see in the beginning and throughout the videos) Basically, if you speak good words the tree will flourish and bare good fruits. If you speak negative words, the opposite happens. Scream is about people saying negative things and the impact it has on others. In the song Boca (which means "mouth" in Spanish), the group sings about wanting to protect people from negative words spouted by others. Odd Eye is about the realization that the world will never be a perfect place and there will always be hate. If you look closely you'll see the members develop odd eyes (different colored eyes). With this they can see the harsh reality of the world. Instead Utopia is within ourselves. Dreamcatcher is my favorite kpop group of all time. They are extremely talented and always tell compelling stories with their songs and MVs. It's always nice to see new people get into it. They really deserve all the love and I hope to see you react to more of them in the future. 💕

oh, and of course dreamcatcher is known for their heavy rock concepts, but their b-sides showcase a bunch of other styles, and they navigate them all pretty well. (you would probably like something as "and there's no one left" (killing bass line, always on my "getting ready for clubbing" playlist), "red sun" (sexy and has a niiice dami verse), "jazz bar" (chill) or "july 7th" (kinda reggae).)
Dreamcatcher is the all rounder group each member raps and can sing , they can fill any role plus they are versatile etc...
They only recommended the rock/metal title tracks when you asked what songs to react to. They're great but Dreamcatcher has SO MUCH more I feel like you missed out on most of what they have in your introduction. Other m/v's like Red Sun, Sahara, And There Was No One Left, BEcause, Black or White give something totally different that is still Dreamcatcher and a good time (and there are gems in b-sides that never got videos). For clarity the Nightmare Series is the only story series, or songs about nightmares and being trapped (some fans give the impression that's the only thing DC does). Dystopia Trilogy you watched is related by theme of harm from social media. The other 75% of their music is talent, presence, and different.

They are no nightmares anymore. nightmare era was their debut era and their concept evolved since then. Today, it really doesnt make any sense to assign them each to a nightmare. As well as the talent, the vocals, the rap-line, the songs, choreo, outfits, make-up, I'm also impressed by the message and subject matter of their songs. I feel that you can interpret them on a number of levels and I really like the thought and creativity that goes into them. I think that because they are not 'girl-crush' or 'cute' this has allowed Dreamcatcher to explore a wide range of themes.

DC makes songs for video games, anime and kdrama OSTs. So their production is always top notch and their sounds are really diverse - incorporating a full band and even stringed orchestra instruments layered with electronic elements.
DREAMCATCHER BOCA
MEANING:
In the MV there are two sides of each member. A good side and a bad side. I think the good side is taking place in the past before the dystopia began and the girls were good and protecting the tree. It shows how the world and the girls were before.And the bad sides of them are taking place in the present. Also I recognized all bad happenings are shown with the color red. The tree that was hurt. The girls who become evil. The tapes of the statues and the room where Sua stands.In the beginning a person behind a mask can be seen holding a phone in his hands. The mask represents the anonomity and the phone cybermobbing. The person represents people in society who want to hurt you by words.So each member is attacked by these evil words and this can be seen in many scenes. Dami who is offended by the creatures while she is standing on a podest. Though all are reaching out for her she can not be hurt.
As well in the scene where hands behind her try to hurt her but can't as a material is between them.Siyeon stands in the center of sculptures facing her trying to offend her with words. But just like Dami Siyeon can't be attacked since red tapes are covering their mouths.Yoohyeon is placed in between many raindrops who seem to have stopped falling down. Raindrops actually stand for the victims of hate.Also she is shooting herself in the place with the raindrops with a crossbow from the place where she is already bad. Representing the fact that the evil language of the Dystopia is able to change people to the point that they can hurt themselves as a consequence of hate.As Yoohyeon, Dami and Siyeon, Gahyeon also tries to defeat the hate by covering her ears and closing her eyes to ignore and shut out the evil.Jiu walks by the masked person avoiding to get hurt.
Sua stands in a red room. As I already mentioned red stands for evilness. The walls of the room are covered with bad and evil words. And the room doesn't seem stable. Sua herself looks confused and lost. But as the other girls she finds a way to defeat the hate: by finding and opening a door.So in conclusion: could the girls defeat the evil? We don't know. Since we see Gahyeon crying it could end bad. And the tree is still sick. The evilness is still spreading.But we don't know yet. Because like Scream it's an open ending. And just as in the Scream MV we see a mask lying on the floor covered with evil words.
The tree of the three of language thats what they call it, Scream, Boca, Odd Eye so the Era of the Utopia ends (Symbolic of hear no evil (Scream) , speak no evil (Boca) , see no evil (Odd Eye)
This tree determines the whole world. As Jiu mentioned in an interview: the tree wears good fruits when people say good things and wears bad fruits when people say bad things. And as we can tell by the phrase: the world now is evil. I guess Gahyeon caused this since she touched the crystal in Scream which probably is the heart of the tree and then the tree who might keeps the balance in this world disrupted it. Also she wears the mask which can be seen in Boca too. It represents the fact of the evil one hiding and due to that she can't be identified as the one who caused this. Also everyone points at her in one scene showing she is the cause of the dystopia.All people living in this world are becoming evil. It's the beginning of a dystopia

Meet Lee Siyeon. One of the best vocalists in K-Pop. Along with Yoohyeon they're the vocal powerhouse for Dreamcatcher, while being supported by another 5 amazing vocalists. Dreamcatcher are super talented. They can all sing, dance, and have incredible stage presence, while many can rap. And behind the scenes, they're the funniest, loveliest, chaotic, down to earth, amazing dorks.

My favorite ggs are Dreamcatcher and Gidle, they’re music is just different from a lot of ggs in kpop. If you decide to do a part 2, I’d recommend Because (their latest comeback), Piri, Silent Night (doesn’t have an mv cause it’s a b side but in my opinion it’s a really good song, different than their title tracks, more edm than rock), and then maybe Chase Me (their debut).
Next has to be Gidle! I think you’d really like them. For songs, Latata (their debut), Lion, Hwaa (their latest comeback), and Oh my god. Soyeon (leader and main rapper) writes and produces almost all their songs.

Great reaction! Dreamcatcher is an amazing group but underrated and still doesn’t have a win, but their sales have finally gotten better lately. If you like them I also highly recommend the rookie group PIXY, which are different but have a similar vibe to DC, and are even more underrated.

Dreamcatcher when performing look fierce, but the moment the song ended/ off stages :chaotic and loud like LOUD ahaha. And yes dreamcatcher title track are rock influence, hence u feel the anime vibes. However, if u check out their b-side like black or white, red sun, whistle( no dance but i love it too much), it is a whole new world.
About the dystopia series, quick summary of the story. The tree u see is the tree of language, it got “infected” in scream by nasty comment, portraying how bad nasty comment/ cyberbullying is. In boca, the girls tried to save the tree from the hate ie to shut up if u have nothing better to say. In odd eye, the tree kinda died as in reality there will always be hate, u cant stop it. The girls realised that there no such thing as utopia, therefore they should open their “odd eye” and find the utopia within themselves.

Glad you enjoyed them! I've only known about them for a couple of weeks now. My ult group is Red Velvet. I provide this context so I can point out that I feel as if I've enjoyed Dreamcatcher so much for similar reasons that I love Red Velvet. Dedicated concept, absurd vocals, choreo, and B-Side tracks that are all over the fucking place in regards to sound. It helps that Dreamcatcher's concept is more in line with my music roots waaaaaay before I even knew what K-pop was. In all seriousness, they have some pretty dope B-Sides that showcase their range as a group. The group themselves have even made self-filmed music videos for some of those B-Sides. Dreamcatcher is pure chaotic energy, so whenever they do non-serious things, the results are usually creative and ridiculous. Hopefully, you'll check those out one day.
Also, you definitely should check out some performances or dance practices because the MVs take a lot of that away. I'm not a dancer nor am I someone who watches all of the dance practices for everything and everyone. However! I will confidently say that they have some of the best choreo that I've seen thus far. The way they use members and backup dancers is incredibly efficient. Scream and Boca dance practices are actually super fun to watch.
In regards to the storyline in the video and for the overall arc, it personally took me a while to pick out the pieces. Their lyrics are written poetically enough that trying to figure that shit out while watching the crazy visuals in the video is pretty tough. I will say though, the Dystopia series is fairly straightforward. Dreamcatcher's first arc, Nightmare, is a lot more difficult to piece together. I won't describe how or why to prevent spoilers, but yeah. It's a lot. lol

Dreamcatcher is a really no miss group! Visuals, vocals, raps, dance, music, choreo, and personalities. Even their b-side songs are no miss!

MEANING:
Welcome to Dystopia
The world we see being depicted in “Scream” is a setting unlike anything we’ve seen thus far in Dreamcatcher’s music videos. While some videos had a few fantasy elements, notably “Deja Vu”, they primarily focused on horror/thriller themes and imagery (ghosts, curses, witchcraft, etc.)But “Scream” has much heavier emphasis on the fantasy elements; specifically, dark fantasy, since it still contains the darker, horror concept that has been consistent with the group.In the “Nightmare” series, although the girls are seen performing rituals and apparently dabbling in witchcraft, they were never actually called witches.
They were “Nightmares”, girls who were cursed by a strange dark force, some of them corrupted or possessed by this entity, to be trapped in a never-ending dream.But in “Scream”, there is no doubt they are now a real circle of witches. We see the girls not only wearing matching robes that you’d see a coven of witches wear (and we’ve seen them wear before in “Good Night” and “Fly High”), but Siyeon and Yoohyeon actually release magic from within them.JiU in particular seems to have a strong connection to the titular “tree of language” that appears throughout the video, several scenes of her shown in a temple that might represent the inside of the tree itself.Considering JiU is the leader of Dreamcatcher in real life, perhaps she is the guardian of the tree, and gathered allies to help her protect it, thus forming Dreamcatcher.
We see two girls on opposite sides of the tree. A girl with white hair, who we shall discuss the identity of in a bit, and a girl with dark hair, who I believe is JiU. In any case, the tree is clearly an important part of their world, and may likely be the source of the girls’ powers. But more than that, the tree is also connected to the power of words and language. JiU actually said during their rooftop VLIVE: “When people say good things, the tree bears white fruit, but when they say bad things, it bears black fruit.” Perhaps this tree actually holds ancient archives of every event in history, or that it holds a great influence over everyone and its presence is what keeps peace and balance in the world. And JiU, as the guardian spirit of the tree, helps it bear fruit of good, virtue, and light, and protect the balance with the fruit born of evil, negativity, pain, and darkness. The very first thing we are given at the start of the music video is this…“One day suddenly the light did not come,
People forgot how to say good things.”
This means something catastrophic happened that influenced the power of the tree of language, disrupted the balance, and thus changed everything in their world. People began to spread words of hatred to those around them, because something had corrupted the tree. The world which was once a “utopia” became a “dystopia”, and chaos and war erupted everywhere. And I think it was Gahyeon who did this, but why and how? Pandora’s box opened When they released the album story spoiler teaser, we were given a glimpse of the story that “Dystopia” is telling us.We get these shots of JiU and Yoohyeon in the snow (which is often used to symbolize death), as well as shots later on of SuA in a black dress and umbrella. This shows all the members are in mourning over the little girl’s death.
However, I think Gahyeon takes the girl’s death the hardest. She doesn’t want to accept the fact that she’s gone; she wants to bring her back.
This leaves her vulnerable to the spirit of evil’s influence, as it lures her into the tree of language.JiU can sense that something sinister has awakened, and hurries to try and stop Gahyeon, but as we see later, she didn’t make it in time.When Gahyeon reaches the center of the tree, she finds a glowing crystal with strange symbols and a purple mist surrounding it. I think this represents the heart of the tree and source of its power. Perhaps, under the influence of the spirit of evil, Gahyeon believed she could use the power of the crystal to change the events of the past and bring the girl back from the dead. But that’s an impossible wish, one that could never be granted.And the moment Gahyeon touches it, it shatters and that’s when everything starts to go awry.The inside of the temple represents the inside of the tree turns red, meaning it’s now starting to become corrupted by the spirit’s influence.The purple flames that surrounded JiU (which represent the tree’s power) are red as well.Strange red markings start covering the walls.And a red burst of magic energy is unleashed from the tree. (Even the leaves turn blood red).
This is even reflected in the dance shots, as we see the girls dancing in a room lit up in red light, and choreography itself, as in the second chorus, Gahyeon stands at the center while everyone circles her and points at her.
JiU is trapped in the tree of language, Dami feels betrayed by her friends suddenly turning against her, while SuA goes to fight in the war.Gahyeon feels immense guilt for what happened. Meanwhile, Handong goes missing (evident by her mask being left on the ground).
However, not all hope is lost.
Siyeon and Yoohyeon both feel deep down that their memories must be wrong, so they each go searching for answers on their own.
Siyeon searching through the thick fog is symbolic of her searching through her own memories, trying to find out what really happened, while Yoohyeon just wants to reunite with her friends.

Dreamcatcher is one of the most versatile and talented GG out there. Unfortunately, they are not nearly as popular in South Korea as they are in other countries, but that is slowly starting to change. One other thing about them is that they have one of the most open-minded and tolerant fanbases out there. I have watched many, many Dreamcatcher videos and never seen a toxic comment targeted at any other group or individual (only exception to that being when they got legitimately cheated out of their first win on The Show, though those comments were directed at The Show, not at the group that "beat" them).
"I feel like they have a really strong presence" Well, out of 3rd gen girl groups, they are one of the best when it comes to stage presence, group-wise and individual-wise. Look at them live, they almost do every live fully in live.

Yoohyeon is such an Adorable, Clumsy puppy seriously she is very clumsy and her Vocals are INSANE she could be a Main Vocalist in any other Group and her Rap is just great you can see it in their cover to Really Really! Dami is such a Handsome Prince yet so Beautiful she is the one with the crazy deep voice she is definitely one of my favorite Rappers and one of the deepest voices in K - Pop as well, And Gahyeon is the Maknae of the Group she is the Baby she is very Adorable and sweet but when she wants to she can be very scary and overall her Duality is CRAZY! Love your reaction, your voice is so soft and nice and you're super cute! I recommend you Odd Eye and Boca at Esquire, is singing live no dancing performance, and they sound so good! And their live performances are great too, they are one of the few kpop groups that actually sing and dance on stage, is really difficult to perform both things at the same time so usually groups chose depending on the event if is better to sing or just dance at 100% and do playback. On top of that, Dreamcatcher's choreographies are full of strong moves and fast paced bpm which is not usual for girl groups. Dreamcatcher does both and the quality is exquisite! This girls are so talented and yet underrated because just because their sound is out of the standard kpop sound 😢

So, you should react to the dance videos for these songs. There are a lot of them. Stage performances, dance MVs, dance practices. The practices are the best way to see the dance since they use one camera and don't cut back and forth to closeups. For the stages, the 4K or 6K fan cams are the same, one camera so you can see them like you're in the audience. The dance MVs do cut to different shots, they're cool, but you can't watch the dancing nearly as well. And then, the relay dances. They're a lot of fun.

Dreamcatcher ODD EYE
MEANING:
The MV is about how the media (represented by the TV, phone, & computer) is showing us fake comfort (represented by a mask chair). It tells us how a new world of hope but is an altered reality of despair.
Media shows us a lot of good things in life that makes us believe that there is a Utopia and this gives us hope. Even when we open our eyes, we see it as something good. According to the lyrics, it is a sorrow covered by light. It is a perfect illusion covering reality.
They sing about using our Odd Eye, a secretly hidden eye that sees beyond illusion. Because with how sophisticated this world is right now, anything can be deceiving. A smile can be a plausible lie overshadowed by sweetness. Even hope itself may may lead us to despair in the end.
We see Yoohyeon drink the cup of what she thought was wine but was actually poision. We see Gahyeon reach into the computer but ended up in flames. They give us fake hope but get hurt in the end when faced with the brutal reality of this cruel world. We are literally hurting ourselves like how Handong has her neck in her own hands. Let go of the remote (Siyeon) and stop looking for this fake Utopia (Jiu running away from the tree).
In the last chorus it tells us to close our eyes. So that we can't be fooled by the world's fake light. So that at least we choose to be in darkness than to chase something that doesn't exist.
Jiu has her eyes blindfolded with a bouquet in her hands for us to realize this. A Utopia is not something we must search for but is something we must make ourselves.

The song is explaining that DC (Dreamcatcher) can’t find a utopia because it doesn’t exist anymore and how the odd eye(reality) helps them realize this.
DC were lying to themselves with false hope in the boca Mv. They had hopes of stopping people from saying negative things but it’s not possible.
Most of the lyrics are just repeating the same concept. They tricked themselves with hope/light/lies/sweetness/ideal dreams but after a while they realize that this fate can’t be changed. They are forced into reality and there is no more utopia

Deja Vu is actually a song made in collaboration for a game called Kings Raid and when it became an Anime Dreamcatcher did the intro for the Anime Adaptation the song called Eclipse (intro)

Dreamcatcher (DC/Deukae) is an unique 7 member girl group. As far as I know, it's the only K-pop group which *CONSISTENTLY* infuse pop with rock/metal instrumentals within *ALL* their *TITLE TRACKS*.

not to be dramatic but deja vu is one of those songs that can just never be topped. it’s one of a kind and it’s so special and powerful that it hits you hard every time. this song is one of the ones that gives me such a powerful overwhelming feeling that’s impossible to describe and i can’t help but cry every single time i hear it. it’s so beautiful and definitely a gem that i’m glad i was able to hear in my lifetime.
