Ironically all the points you made like overdose of slow mo's, background score, screaming emotional dialogues, the factors which u feel as something 'not so impressive', or 'lack of subtlety', I found those very factors larger than life and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Natasha Bahubali tells a simple and predictable story in an epic fashion. I agree with bad CGI and that’s not the only imperfection of the movie but the storytelling was so epic that it has become one of the masterpieces of Indian movie history. The storytelling was over the top by design not by accident. You may not agree with the method, but then you are disagreeing with the nature of the movie itself. I like subtlety and nuances as much as another person, but I thoroughly enjoyed Bahubali both 1 and 2.

I am not an obsessed Baahubali fan. In fact I even waited almost 2 weeks after it released to watch it in theaters just because I was unsure if I would like it, especially after hearing your 3 star review. With all due respect, you were completely off with this review! This movie is a gem in every aspect of Indian cinema. It deserves a 4 or 4.5 rating truly. Even after your terrible Befikre judgement, I gave you the benefit of the doubt as I am also a hopeless romantic who enjoys rom coms. But after your review of this movie, I really don't think your reviews are credible anymore. I am sorry to leave a mean comment but I think somewhere in your viewing of this movie, your bias against South Indian movie making industry shows. I have a feeling that if even one big Bollywood superstar or Bollywood director was a part of this movie then you would have rated it higher and enjoyed it more. You could not allow yourself to fully give in to this magnificent piece of cinema.

very disappointed with this review.... did u give 3 because it is a south film? we all can expect wkkb by our cinema knowledge.... he took it the same way... the question was created in audience not by the director. he did not change any story by the expectation of that question... great job rajamouli sir💪🏻
The rating is becaue the story is forced. Why did the mother who was so smart in first film get manipulated so easily to kill her own son? Why would Kattappa kill Bahubali after knowing everything- he can simply resign or just kill himself to save bahubali? What happened to the female lead from first movie- she did not have ONE dialogue? Bahubali's final 'plan' was to use trees to shoot soldiers inside the fort? Do you think that's a realistic plan? They will just break their legs, they are normal humans. If you use your brain and not just your emotions, you will be able to see why this movie is not as highly rated as you think it should be. I am extremely happy that Anupama panned the movie. In fact I am extremely happy that all the "serious" critics have panned Bahubali 2. This is because many of the greatest block busters were panned by the "serious" critics. Take Sholay for example. When it was released the "serious" critics of the time had panned it. We all know what happened next.
To take another classical example:
During Shakespeare's life time, the "intellectuals" of the time thought that he was inferior to Christopher Marlowe and Ben Jonson, but the general public liked Shakespeare much more than Marlowe and Jonson. Today everyone knows Shakespeare and no one knows Christopher Marlowe (except English Litt students). When you say Ben Jonson, people will think of a certain disgraced athlete but not a play writer.
Starting towards the end of Shakespeare's life tima and for the past 400 years, every critic, intellectual, expert, common men, kings, queens literally everyone eulogized Shakespeare. All the intellectuals over the past 400 years found millions of reasons to praise Shakespeare to the skies. But the common public of Shakespeare's time already knew that Shakespeare was great.
It is the same with many classics. The public KNOWS; Period.
Therefore, I believe all super hit films are great films; "critical acclaim" not withstanding.
All "serious" critics can go stuff it.

Public is the biggest judge. First few critics gave less points and when movie became box office hit they changed their review and increases their rating 😀😀😀

I cannot believe this! All the lame bollywood movies and the grandeur super hero hollywood movies are given such good ratings on your channel. Probably an epic like bahubali is difficult to fathom for the bollywood reviewers. I fail to understand how she dismissed Anushka, Ramya Krishna and Rana's performance as one note. Such strong characterizations, a wonderful story along with humour, action, romance, epic war sequence and the sheer effort behind making this is given 3 stars. Slow clap

I watched it at 8AM, Friday morning in a multiplex which was house full. I think we hooted, laughed and whistled through most of it. I enjoyed everything that you couldn't find 'logic' in. This is a blockbuster movie.

Bahubali 2 is mind blowing awesome movie. I think the Lootera Bollywood Badshah n sultan should learn something, in the name of entertainment they show crap.
Bahubali is a mythological film so obviously it'll have strength element which u r comparing to superhero movies. It's every frame is just wowsome. It's purely Indian mythology without any foreign "inspiration" . And rather being jealous learn something.
She didn't question the "myth" in the mythology, she criticised the screenplay and the film making. Whether the story is copied from an old telugu book or new English movie is not the point here. Don't think she was talking about it either. Criticism has been trending for some time now, as more Indians are becoming more educated, getting greater exposure and refusing to tide along like blind sheep.
I'm surprised at Anupama's review. I usually enjoy listening to her description and hold her in high regards where movie reviews are concerned. In this case I'm glad that I saw the movie before her review. I watched it first in telegu with sub titles and I still really enjoyed the movie. Bahubali 2 was not just to Reveal why katappa killed bahubali (which I guessed from a mile). it stood on its own without relying on the suspens.
It was SO refreshing to watch a male lead treat his woman as his equal and fight WITH her instead of FOR her. Loved the chemistry and am so over the bollywood rahul/raj cheese where the guy feels entitled to the woman's reciprocation of his obsession (I wouldn't call it love) and where the woman is always projected as a damsel in distress.
since it was established from scene 1 that bahubali is a super hero, I did not question the otherwise illogical fight sequences. when we can accept a puny guy beat up 100s of goons the fights in this movie atleast falls within the storyline.
It felt like a mash up of mahabharat and avengers. personally I'm not a big fan of violence and fight sequences, however this movie was taken so well that I was captivated. I was not bored for a second.
In context to Anupama's general review of movies this review does make me wonder if she would have rated it better if it was a hindi movie.
If she went ahead of her way and called Bahubali as the best film, Bullywood would be tasting the mud anyway! These so called westerners just think of themselves as high and mighty of Buwood and just want to showcase it one level up, come what may

Cinema Beyond Entertainment The first movie was great because of its good story and somewhat grounded storytelling. The second part was slighlty dissapointing as the Katappa mystery was pretty weak and easily predictable, the story was fairly weak and over the top. No one is denying that this was a great film but it is weaker than the first in almost every respect.

Keep that condescending tone to yourself, woman! 3 stars for Baahubali and 3.5 for Befikre? Those aren't honest reviews and if thats really your opinion then you're a terrible critic. Its a grand bold film, none of us really care about the lack of subtlety and nuances. Yes the story falters sometimes, but it still deserves at least a 4 star rating, if not 4.5. The direction and the majestic performances by the actors are enough to enrich the movie goers experience. Rajamouli's fantastic imagination is sheer sensory bliss and bollywood chamchas are calling it sensory overload? Rajamouli has outdone all bollywood directors, its time to come off your prejudiced high horses and accept that fact.

Bahubali is in different genre of films. We have seen movies like MadMax that build upon frenzy and loud background .But, Bahubali had a very good story to tell which was presented magnificently on screen. For me this movie is an obsession. Some scenes including the bgm are so epic that it is truly beyond imagination. I really felt like i was devouring the cinema. Bahubali team has earned massive praise across India. So i urge critics to understand that we Indians have never witnessed such a movie. This movie may not wholly fulfill the criteria of a sophisticated and sensible cinema but still it is one of its own kind.

There are a lot of flaws in the movie. People are just compulsively saying it's the greatest Indian movie ever, which is feel is just an expression of our collective inferiority complex. The movie had some great moments, but also some boring and illogical segments as well. And it did try too hard to impress, almost to the level of exhausting my patience. Take the music for example, it could've been toned down a lot. When I came out of the movie, I was amazed but also got a terrible headache.

You should have certain expectations from each movie. You can't expect Baahubali to be "Moonlight". She missed the point how much the character buildings were done. She only focused on palm trees. I admit it is not Oscar worthy but it is damn good.

You lost the plot Anupama. Even though this movie was over 3 hours long, viewers were totally hooked. The screenplay was well executed. Your review doesn't connect with the people's view. But again, you were never a fan of action flicks.
as I predicted, I haven't seen it yet but I knew it's not gonna be better than previous one. this movie has romance which I hate the most in any movie, excessive use of slow motion eats my mind, nonsense gravity defying action always sucks, so I m not gonna waste my money on it.

Kattappa killed Bahubali because Bhallaldev gave Kattapa two choices either to save Shiva(Baahubali's Son) and Devsena(Baahubali's wife) or to save the Baahubali. So Kattapa decided to save Baahubali's son as the child will be the future of Mahishmati kingdom......
