      I have to say, the women's Peloton straight omitting the concept of break aways or team tactics after 50km to go, and instead having the leaders shredding crosswinds every second day is just the best. And the stages are short enough that these gaps actually stick sometimes. The whole season already, no matter the profile, whenever you turn on the TV, some crazy multi-group-chase is going down. Realini is a good example why the UCI weight limit should be lowered, at least for tiny riders. She is 40kg. Her 540W peak is actually 13.5W/kg, but obviously having to ride a bike that weighs more than 15% of yourself will slow everyone down.

      Thiw team didn't seem very good, really, which surprised me. No help for Vollering in the event's last two mountain stages--well, no help on the decisive climbs; not an SD Worx rider to be seen. Do they not have any climbers. Had they had someone to push pace when they hit the last big climb today, Vollering would have won it--but Vollering is a one-woman band. Reusser did a good job in the break today-- but what was the point? To make Movistar chase--but other teams did as much chasing as Movistar--and in the end Ruesser couldn't help Vollering.

    fully agree with you on the tactics of SD-Works, great assessment. If you have two riders both capable of podium, but the stronger one is losing the general, the other sacrifices all to place the stronger one into a position for victory. This was SD-Works' job to chase on the penultimate stage, and, after all, it was 40k Annemiek van Vleuten separated front her team in front (30k of those with her being the only one pulling). They had a chance to chase down Annemiek van Vleuten but she showed her 'metal' on that ride. We should add, it almost cost her the race on the final stage in where she had to pay for that previous day's effort.

    This isn't the first time SDWorx makes such mistakes and after seeing that documentary on SDWorx in the first Tour de France Femmes... Nothing but respect for Anna Van der Breggen, but that sports manager Danny Stam often seems to be clueless when a decision has to be made. And Vollering still needs a cool and decisive team lead. It's definitely not talent that's lacking among their riders, but they keep losing races they should win.

      It´s so ridiculous, like she´s 40, her bike fit seems super weird and let´s be honest, her handling skills aren´t above average either. just look how she throws her poor bike around when standing up. Yet she consistently obliterates the entire competition. Really scary to think how much more potential performance gains she could have had in her career.

    • @tommyrq180
      @tommyrq180 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      She has two of the most important indicators of too high of a saddle. Her hips rock noticeably and she points her toes. By contrast, look at Vollering. That’s how it’s done. Then again, bike fit is weird and every rider is different. Hard to argue with all the years and results with that bike fit…. Would be interesting to hear how their technical people see the issue.

    • @royanderson3478

    • @tommyrq180
      @tommyrq180 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@royanderson3478 3mm? That’s not much at all. I see saddles several centimeters high all the time. If you had said 3 cm I’d say, sure, lots of these riding around. Also, BTW, you see saddle sores on one or the other side, usually the left side, due to reaching too far on one side. It’s an almost sure sign of seat too high. In any case, if you’re in the general area of correct, as you say a bit low is better than high. Bike fit is so difficult, so many variables. For instance, if you moved AVV’s cleat position back and seat down, she might not have such a pronounced toe-down riding style. But regardless, when you make a change, it takes TIME and MILES to transition adequately. It doesn’t always just feel good right away. Most riders, approximately 80%, are quite position-sensitive. I absolutely love meeting the other people-the 20%. You can move them all around and they hardly notice and just ride. They still benefit from a good bike fit but are almost hilariously resistant to ill effects!
