    @ 3:39 why didn't you fill the gap between the flange and drywall with Kerdi Seal?

    • @schlutersystems1
      @schlutersystems1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there ! It wouldn't be necessary to fill the gap with KERDI-FIX here. The KERDI-BAND connection will be solid between the KERDI-FIX on the tub flange and the thin set mortar on the wall. So, there is no need for movement accommodation at that spot. Hope that helps!

    Thank you for the detailed info, especially both approach of drywall installation, installed flush with the lip of the tub deck and over the flange (when the wall is built out).
    It hard to find professional organizations (or DIY channels) that offer details on building out a wall, especially when it comes to finishing the likely j-trim transitions.

    What do you do over the tapered drywall joints? Would it be a good idea to apply thinset the day before to make that drywall joint smooth? Just wondering if the kerdi membrane would follow that taper

    Question
    Why use kerdi band on the bottom on the perimeter of the tub and then overlap it with the wall sheet? Why not just run the wall sheet all the way down?

    • @schlutersystems1
      @schlutersystems1  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there ! The KERDI-BAND is required in this application as having the 2'' overlap won't be achieve with only the KERDI used on the wall. Having that extra band ensures it is water tight. Hope that helps!

    When applying the kerdi fix in the tub flange gap, would it be a problem applying all set OVER the kerdi fix? I went overthe kerdi fix with all set then kerdi banded it.

    • @schlutersystems1
      @schlutersystems1  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello! As long as the KERDI-FIX was able to make a direct bond to the tub connection, that shouldn't affect anything. Hope that helps!

    • @garrettp.5018
      @garrettp.5018 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@schlutersystems1 Correct, the Kerdi-FIX was able to close the entire gap including contact with the tub.

    Q. Do you let the Kerdi-Fix fully cure before applying the Kerdi Band and Thinset ? Or do you apply the Kerdi-Band over the 2 materials while they are both "Wet" ?

    • @schlutersystems1
      @schlutersystems1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there. It is not necessary to allow the KERDI-FIX to fully cure before applying the thin-set mortar and KERDI-BAND as the KERDI-BAND will need to adhere to both the thin-set mortar and KERDI-FIX to ensure a vapor tight application. Hope this helps!

    Yep turns out my mixing valve cover is smaller than the hole. That's going to be fun to fix. Thanks Kerdi.

    • @schlutersystems1
      @schlutersystems1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there, you can use KERDI-FIX as an alternative to the seals. This method is helpful when the pipe or mixing valve is a different size. Please feel free to give our Product Support team a call if you'd like us to discuss your project in a bit more detail, and from there they can offer any advice as needed. 800-472-4588 (US) or 800-667-8746 (Canada). Hope this helps for now.

    Can this be installed over backer board?

    • @schlutersystems1
      @schlutersystems1  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there! Yes, Cementitious backer unit - ANSI A118.9 or ASTM C1325, Fiber-cement backerboard - ASTM C1288, Fiber-reinforced water-resistant gypsum backerboard - ASTM C1278, Coated glass mat water-resistant gypsum backerboard - ASTM C1178 are all approved solid backing materials to install the KERDI membrane over. For more details, you can have a look at the Shower System Installation Handbook here: sccpublic.s3-external-1.amazonaws.com/sys-master/images/h26/h81/9474607349790/Shower%20System%20Installation%20Handbook.pdf

    Surely that Dialex perimeter joint isnt water proof? Water will easily seep under it, is it Kerdi sealed to the tub?

    • @schlutersystems1
      @schlutersystems1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there! The DILEX-BWA is not waterproof but behind the profile, there is KERDI or KERDI-BAND which is adhered to the tub surround with KERDI-FIX. The assembly is then sealed and waterproof. Hope that helps!

    In the video the tile seems to go from the tub flange all the way to the ceiling above the tub. If that is the case is the tile installed as per normal above the schluter system products?

    • @schlutersystems1
      @schlutersystems1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there, yes, that is correct. The KERDI needs to be installed to the height of the shower head, at minimum. The tile is installed per normal to the solid backing above the KERDI.

      Hi there, Sorry, but we don't have a contractor referral program. The dealers found on our website do deal with contractors daily, so they would actually be in a good position to refer you. Hope this helps!

    Maybe I don't fully understand something, but when installing the DITRA with the KERDI band, how come removing the painter's tape not leave a small gap between the bath and the KERDI-Fix/membrane ? Is there a risk that water would penetrate there ?

    • @schlutersystems1
      @schlutersystems1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there!
      The painters tape is adhered to level with the top of the DITRA so there will be about 1/8” of KERDI-FIX contacting the tub under the KERDI-BAND. The painters tape is removed while the KERDI-FIX is still pliable, so no gaps would be created. If preferred, you could always adhere your tape a little higher (but not higher than your tile) and wrap the KERDI-BAND onto the side of the tub a little bit with the KERDI-FIX.
      Hope this helps!

    Schluter products are overrated and overpriced. Also followed mixture procedure of their All set cement and found out that the wall membrane did not adhere to the mold resistant drywall consistently. I couldn't take a chance expecting this membrane to support wall tiles. Schluter warranty is only on paper. They squirm out of honoring their warranty by finding excuses. All contractors with years of experience I spoke to stay away from Schluter products.
