      @@danieldesjardins4074 If you need that clarified, then you must have only been watching MSNBC for the last twenty years. Affirmative action denies entry to hard-working and deserving students (often Asian or White) in order to fill quotas based on the color of one's skin. It's racism, hence it's unconstitutional.
      That's really all you need to know, and all this rhetoric about packing the supreme court (with more liberals, obviously) and talk of the supreme court being "far-right extremist" is asinine. Racism is unconstitutional, and deserving black students ARE admitted if and when their academic performance meets the necessarily harsh entry standards at these universities.
      Maybe we should be looking at how Democrat policies destroyed the family structure in black neighbourhoods and caused generations of young black kids to grow up without fathers, surrounded by violence and gang culture. Democrat cities are the worst places to grow up if you want to pursue a good education, precisely because of policies such as affirmative action, that claim to help people but never encourage people to help themselves.
      Victim mentality is a disease and it is being spread by Democrats.

      @@danieldesjardins4074 SCOTUS ended Asian, white students' discrimination.
      Most Americans support a ban on making ethnicity a factor in college admissions. SCOTUS agreed, but allowed students to talk about how their ethnicity affected them. I'd say SCOTUS should've been clear that u must PROVE how it affected u, n to be fair, should allow u to mention how your health, poverty, lack of connections or "legacy" status, or your ugliness or weakness n being bullied, affected u. each person's life has more or less fortune n hardships, n we can't assume based on color.
      If u want diversity, u can seek diverse classes n guests. MLK copied Ghandi, Einstein credited all math from Indians (which they got from Vedas, which seems to be where all knowledge originated from, which youtuber "Playitalready" plans to show evidence for) but where's Indian history month? Why 7-11 jokes, etc. can be made on Indians, but they along with ALL Asians, have to sue to stop colleges from lowering their personality score n making their ethnicity a key, to give their seat to blks? because you're a selfish r*cist? no thanks. if u have so much empathy, start with the 70% of blk kids having no father. i mostly blame f*minists for that. help animals in factory farms, who are being treated worse than blks.

    Affirmative Action is a double edge sword. Counter Point: I spent 2 years taking Fire Science classes in the evenings while raising a young boy and had a full-time job. I volunteered at the County Fire Department on weekends and passed the State Test to become a Certified Fire EMT. I spent 16 weeks of Saturdays completing the training at the Fire Academy. I took many tests around SoCal to gain employment with the FD, in all cases after the written test, an oral interview, and passing a physical examination. Each time I made the top ten list for new hires. This was in 1980 when the Fire Department was required to hire minorities to balance the workforce. I was passed over by this, they had to go several tiers down to get minority candidates who were recruited from minority neighborhoods, and they were prepared by the Fire Department at all stages of the hiring process. I gave up after all the work after 4 years I had put into this career, while others got a Bump Forward for their minority status and were hired. Is that fair to be passed over because you were born white? We can not give bias in housing and jobs to minorities, race can not be considered. Why in our schools? This has denied students that are not of a minority the same chance at schools of their choice. I will never take anything away from any minority ( I married one), but I will not discriminate against any race, and that includes my own. I can tell you I do not like what is going on with the Supreme Court, but I think they got this one right, in my own Biased Opinion?

      @JETWTF ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@paulkern7229 Having diversity at the cost of denying better qualified is a much worse outcome. You are denying people that deserve to get into the school or job just to have a minority present. I have been denied a job because of Affirmative Action(learned the job was terrible and so I am not bothered by it) and worked someplace else that hired for it even though the new employee was incompetent and you could see the incompetency when he talked. In less than 6 months a new position was opened just to cover that one worker. And the HR rep going over the applications was my GF at the time and she told me how it was an Affirmative Action hire and people with tons of experience were denied just so they could have a token black man in the warehouse and not get sued even though there was an Asian working in the office, 2 Hispanics, and a native American working for the company in other roles(janitor was white). Just not a whole lot of black people living in the area and applying. He was the only one that year and only got the job due to his skin color.
      Is that a good thing to deny someone who deserves the job just because they are not a minority? Or is it just as bad as denying someone a job just because they are a minority? They are equally bad and Affirmative Action forced it to happen way more than you would think. The black woman commenting on fewer black people getting into Cali schools ignores the possibility that the fewer is because the schools are enrolling by qualifications and not race, that the majority population applies more due to just being a majority and that itself adds more better qualified students. And completely ignores that public schools are funded by local taxes and minorities tend to live in more impoverished areas and therefore less funded schools providing less education for a less educated population that is not educated enough to rise out of poverty. Same problem with all white small towns in the mid west or south and their lack of getting into big schools after they graduate from HS.

This explicitly invites partisanship when they claim those donations will go to a super pac of their choosing! The Supreme Court is supposed to be absolute non party bias, but this lately is obviously in broad daylight the opposite case! Term limits 8 years, no allowed donations, recuse from any case (By law that does, has or will effect them, and audits of their income San no grey area on gifts they may receive! Period! No legal ease plain english not interpreting of the laws and the Senate WILL SET THE ETHICAL STANDARDS of the court, not themselves. One can not in a democracy write the rules that govern themselves!

    Tim Scott finally said something right. He was wrong when speaking of academic qualifications to get into these colleges. Kids who benefit from affirmative are qualified! They are not getting a pass. Legacy, that's a whole different story.

    • @Quinston82
      @Quinston82 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sen. Tim Scott says a lot of things that are right, but liberal news media would rather smear him as an "Uncle Tom" than listen to what he has to say.
      But you're assuming that a college or university seeing two applicants of the same competency would choose one over the other based on skin color.
      That's a massive assumption, and if that were happening it would be called discrimination. Which is unconstitutional.
      For the same reason, the supreme court has ruled that affirmative action is unconstitutional. Because choosing applicants based on the color of their skin, and not the content of their character, is racism. There's really not that much more to understand here.
      Yet you have liberals claiming they want to pack the supreme court (with more liberals, obviously) and calling the supreme court "far-right extremist". Bleeding-heart Liberals want to "help" the poor, black folk. Well, tell them to stop voting for Democrats who have been running the cities in which they live for decades without doing anything to improve the quality of their lives, especially their education! Victim mentality is a disease that thrives in Democrat enclaves.

    Wealthy people (of any race) can afford the best private schools, tutors for the SATs, overseas humanitarian trips that look great on applications, ay someone to craft and write your admission essay, and of course legacy admissions. The connections that wealthy families have give them an unfair advantage to begin with.
    Somehow we need to convince employers that Ivy League universities don’t automatically create better employees. We need to invest heavily invest in trade schools, apprenticeships and on the job training programs. And we need to publicly fund elections so that networks of big donors don’t have the impact they have now.

    • @Quinston82
      @Quinston82 ปีที่แล้ว

      And yet Democrat policies do none of that, they only focus on giving handouts. The rhetoric from the Left is designed to make victims out of people. Regardless of what opportunities are afforded to, let's face it, just a handful of rich kids (like, 1% of kids) the only antidote is to encourage kids to work hard and study right.
      Parents are the ultimate force behind a child's education and Democrat policies have encouraged generations of black mothers to raise their kids without a father, and fathers to abandon their children. These kids are at a severe disadvantage but giving them a pass to a prestigious college that they are not really suited for is not the answer. The answer is to raise kids who are good enough to get into these colleges on merit alone.
      For instance, giving parents a choice on where to send their kids to school would force schools to be accountable for the quality of the education they provide.
      That's the very reason why private schools churn out so many high performing students: a. they require their students to meet certain standards, and b. they will lose those students if they don't provide a high-quality education.
      Yet Democrats think that school choice is racist, what a surprise.
      Not to mention anytime a Republican puts forward a bill to address inequality they are outright dismissed by the Liberals and smeared by the media as racist.
      Because apparently only Democrats want to help people get a better education.
      America needs to get a grip, and the Liberals need to let go of their insane ideas about how they think the world "should" work.
