    I have never had any problems with my Jolly Ranchers. I do warm the Trays at 145 degrees for like 5-10 minutes. Always on Parchment Paper of Course.

      I’ll have to try warming them I never have for jollies but maybe it’ll help my ones that don’t puff well. Thanks!

    I did warm my trays for 10 minutes when I freeze dried Jolly Ranchers. I cut mine in thirds with a pair of Pampered Chef snips for harvesting herbs. My kitchen shears didn't work well. I think I do need to get a pair of the pvc cutter you have. I enjoy all of your videos and look forward to future ones. Until then, hopefully no more ❄️❄️❄️!!!

    The top and bottom trays are an issue with Jolly Ranchers. I have a large and it works the same way. So I only use the middle trays and put skittles on the top and bottom trays. Love your videos keep them coming!

      Thanks for the info!! Yes that seems to be how mine are looking too so I'll do the same and stick to Jolly's just in the middle.

    I do mine at 150, Load trays, Warm trays for 10 min, wait til they puff, set timer (Alexa) for 40 min. Cancel process, release vacuum, Watch the temp go down to 70. Then they are done. Literally only an hour and a half cook time. Great idea on the double up on skittles!! I have the medium 5 tray. Going to most likely order the 4 tray for mine. I also cut mine in 3rds.

      What candy works that way? There’s no way all TJ water gets out in an hour. Maybe just skittles but not any other candy

    • @Palebluevanilly
      @Palebluevanilly 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah the candy may stay that way for awhile but unless you are eating them pretty soon, you need to dry your candies for awhile 😮 skittles are the only candy you can do this with! Don't listen to OP new people

    • @DIYfreezedry

      Sour skittles are sooo good freeze dried! People love them. They are hard because you can’t find them in bulk easily (to get the cost down) - so I have made my own before, but I’m working on perfecting the sour powder/liquid recipe. But the normal sour skittles you can buy turn out perfect

    What dial setting do you use to seal your bags? I just tried the clear front bags for the first time and the seal crinkled weird.

    • @DIYfreezedry
      @DIYfreezedry  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I point the dial straight up like half-heat. And then hold for just a second or 2, they will get melty if on the sealer too long so I start short and then hit it again quickly if it wasn’t long enough.

    Why are your Jolly Ranchers in Starburst containers? 🤔😂🤔
    I want to FD candy, but maybe I’m just not understanding how it works. I left mine going and left the house, when I returned all it had done was freeze the Skittles and nothing else. I may have a leak or something else is wrong, or like I said I don’t understand how it works. You said you skip the warming trays…isn’t that where the temp goes to 150 degrees? Or does it do that as part of the drying? I’m so confused. TH-cam is the closest I come to social media, I don’t like it otherwise. I can’t seem to figure out Facebook or Instagram and Discord is just annoying. X/Twitter is just people yelling at each other or putting others down. See? Can’t get into any of it.
    I was thinking about your trip to Costco Business Center. Your kids got Prime. Isn’t that just an influencer advertised product? Are they hypnotized by the guy hawking it? 😂
    I digress. It looks like you’re doing great with the candy, and I suggest not getting the Pro model as it doesn’t look like the trays have enough clearance to stack candy.
    Yes, the pre-cut parchment paper does come in the Medium and Large sizes, but that’s it because only weirdos like me get the Small FD and no one except freezedryingsupplies sells any other size. XL is in a class by itself.

    • @DIYfreezedry
      @DIYfreezedry  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are right on my kids loving prime because of some TH-camr who started it 😂 don’t even know who it is but they someone got all the kids thinking they have to have it and it’s a thing now haha.
      I love those skittles containers I just clean them after I use the candy and they’re great for holding all sorts of things! So for now they’ve got my extra jollies in there 😁
      I wonder if your machine has candy mode - when I put my temp above 135 degrees, after hitting start it gives me a candy mode button I need to press to engage candy mode. Then it does cool down process - then it asks to warm trays which basically is pre heating the trays before the vacuum pump turns on. Some candy does better when you preheat them…. I have also heard that older versions of the software doesn’t have candy mode. So not sure could be causing your issues…. Hmmm.

    • @MisterEMystery
      @MisterEMystery 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @DIYfreezedry I must not have been clear. When I returned to my machine and saw it was still in “warm trays” mode at only 11F, I hit Skip and it went directly into “drying.” I thought something was wrong and cancelled everything.
      You had your chance to look really Smart 😂, you could have said “Drying is the beginning of the process. If you had waited you would have heard your Pump turn on, take the mTorr down below 500 establishing a vacuum, and the temperature increase to 150 degrees or whatever you set it at.”
      Of course I have Candy Mode, I didn’t realize ‘Warm Trays’ was part of the process I could just skip.
      I restarted it this morning, Skipped Warm Trays, and watched it take 10 minutes to get below 500 mT and the temp go up to 150. 3 hours later all my skittles had popped and the process was done👍😁! It’s in a second batch right now 😊
      I’m SO glad you said “Skip the warm trays mode” in your video. I would have thought something was wrong with my machine! I thought I had a leak, I was checking all kinds of videos…yours was the first one that said “skip!” Or at least the first one I heard say it.😊
