      @@sonee_moon I get what you mean, but in this video she's particularly talking about women. Saying one group is suffering does't dismiss the plight of everyone else. She was talking about women because she is a women. Laura B was most likely doing the same. Women are not the only people who get fucked over by beauty standards, you're so right. But women are the people talked about in this video specifically, especially because of how they've been treated on red carpets. It is literally who are you wearing, how did you get in shape for the [insert award show], your skin is glowing what serums do you use, we heard a rumor about you and so-and-so. Like, it's an award show to give recognition for actors, directors, the best in the industry are there, you can't ask what show she's on? As I said, women being talked about in the video isn't the absence of other groups being hurt by the same thing. And I honestly I believe disregarding this is kinda rude.

It's utter nonsense. It's the same thing with the topic of colour bias among south asian communities. If you are of a medium/tan to deep skin tone and you talk about how wrong the colour bias is, then you are called jealous and insecure. Nonsense!

      (Yes, you can fast for many many months as obese but only if you actually take tailored vitamins and mineral supplements and most importantly your fasting is done under the supervision of your doctor. Of course this doesnt mean Im not aware that the less conventionally attractive you are the worse you are treated by the rest of society. But to act like pretty people arent affected at all.... its just not true

    • @anz10
      @anz10 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Also conventionally pretty people have more to lose from societies point of view as they are age and that's hurtful. Moreover they are pressured to keep up appearances and always look perfect which is impossible. Moreover they are generally judged as less smart at first glance which can hurt your chances in the job and dating market. No-one is a winner in this society because no-one is perfect and this illusion of perfection is driving us all to insanity.

      @@drea94 - Drake, I don't understand why you think my comment is misogynistic. Yes, real women exist everywhere in different shapes and forms and sizes in many cultures. What is wrong with complimenting a woman who is accentuating her positive attributes in a minimal amount of time? What is your message? Are you implying that women should take more time and care on makeup and hair? Fine if that is what is needed, But what is wrong with a woman who knows herself so well and confident enough to be able to take just five minutes on makeup and hair and totally rock her look. I don't understand your comment. Are you implying you don't like women who can take a minimalist approach to beauty and have fabulous results? Exactly what is your message? Are you saying that society doesn't give women who might be considered unconventionally pretty enough breaks? WHAT? I'm really highly offended by your comment since I consider myself the opposite of misogyny. In this post, I was complimenting a woman who is totally becoming herself and redefining society's viewpoints on how women are creating their own self confidence and beauty. I like what this woman has to say and I like her self confidence and I like her approach to a non-fussy beauty regime in preparation for attending events like this. I think your comment is totally offensive and I am not the type of woman to sit back and take criticism that is not warranted. Now...if you can explain WHY you think my comment is misogynistic, I will issue an apology to you, but at this moment, I stand proudly by my compliments of another woman who is simply gorgeous. Is that your point? Are women not allowed to compliment other women? If that is your point, I find it sexist on your part. There is nothing wrong with me as a woman complimenting another woman.

    • @srobindittrich6599
      @srobindittrich6599 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@drea94 - All right, I will admit that I was not inclusive enough when it comes to defining beauty in women...or beauty of ALL human beings. So I apologize for not being inclusive enough. I do believe that society is becoming more inclusive of all beauty in all shapes and forms and sizes in all cultures. I for one think this approach for assessing what is conventionally pretty is thankfully changing. For me, as an older woman who is obese and disabled, I love messages of change concerning what is "acceptably pretty" by society. By pointing out one woman who happens to tip the scale towards conventional beauty points, it was not my intention to attack other women by using her as a reference point. Quite the opposite. I just was pointing out how this woman was celebrating who she is and had an "unconventional" approach to body image. I found her attitude and willingness to talk about diversity in beauty quite refreshing. And in all honesty, I loved her minimalist ideas on how any person has the inner ability to shape and create their beauty in a non-fussy no nonsense way. THIS was the main thrust of what I was trying to say.....that everyone has the capacity to highlight their beauty in a non-fussy and positively real way. This just goes to show how important exact communication is needed in order to get one's point across on the internet. In all honesty, I only read Drake's comment and was triggered by that word misogyny. So I read other posts on this subject. Words really are powerful. Hopefully, my message I wanted to impart was clearer this time. I was just trying to celebrate how this "conventionally pretty" woman was celebrating diversity herself. I admit that as a woman who has spent many hours in front of a mirror confronting her own body issues, this subject does trigger lots of my defense buttons. But in all honesty, I still believe I was not attacking other women by pointing out this woman as an ideal. I just liked her unconventional approach to this subject. I hope my message is clearer this time.

    I do like the idea, and i think a lot of the famous actresses get tired from having to do hourly beauty routines every time they go to a red carpet. But once in a while it’s fun, it makes you feel special again.

    It's refreshing to see celebrities like her that don't give a fork abou what the media/society usually asks or expects of them. She just blows my mind every time I hear her with her genuine personality and attitude. It's so true what she said, if you aren't conventionally pretty, they just either ignore you or tell you to stop being jealous, and if you are, they tell you that you are not in a position to make a call about it.

    I'm surprised by how simple her makeup routine is, it's not that much different from what I wear on a daily basis (foundation/blush/mascara/lip color). Celebs usually wear a look requiring like 20 steps for awards ceremonies, but she kept it hella short and looked just as amazing.
