Best(solo)Sandbox MMO. They killed pvp(for now). Huge updates coming. But if you're just looking for a shared world to just "live" in. This is perfect.
Welcome to BDO! I found your video in my suggested videos feed. I hope you continue to enjoy your adventures in the game in the future. You've only scratched the surface of the game from what I see in this video and there's plenty of exciting things to do.
What an honest and at the same time highly professional and satisfying game overview. Thanks for bringing the same love telling us about your impressions the same way PA does to improve its game.
300%!! Great video through and through! This game is huge and has so much in it, and so many ways to go about things. People love to min-max and pursue "the most efficient means," but you said the most important thing that has been echoed before-- it's a marathon, not a sprint. And enjoying that journey is paramount to even wanting to finish it! I've casually done most of the activities in the game, save for a few. I made my account in late 2019, but I didn't start playing until late 2020, a little before first season. I did a lot of fishing and cooking and just exploring and finding bosses. My goal in the game was to get good and strong enough that I could go anywhere, inspired by the huge map covered in fog. P2W has ruined games for me in the past, especially when it invalidates gameplay. I feel like that isn't really the case in BDO. I played my first year without the tent or anything, just two outfits I had bought for my mystic and dark knight because they made me happy. I got the canape a year later as a personal "reward" for hitting Guru cooking, and I got the tent because I wanted to be able to repair my tools while I gathered, realizing how big that was. I had no idea what I was missing out on, but I enjoyed that whole period nonetheless, and then everything just got more fun. BDO is a game I've wanted to support, because it really does line up with what I want an MMORPG to be. I haven't spent much, but when I have spent money, it's never because I felt a need to or anything, but I just wanted to "vote with my dollar" as they say. I love that it's an open world game, and it has all these little specific things you can hyper-focus on and level up near infinitely. PvP players have spoken the loudest, and I too hope that PvP can be "fixed," but there really are players who spend their entire time on the sea, or catching and training horses. I've never played a game where you could be that focused on one activity-- even if it's not the most efficient thing to do, if it's fun, you can do it and still progress. I played a little RuneScape and a lot of MapleStory as a kid, and BDO feels like it does what made those games shine. It has a really strong framework to continue adding any kind of content, and I hope to see it continue to grow.
I really appreciate your insightful comment! It’s great to connect with fellow players who understand the value of enjoying the journey. Your experiences inspired me to look at the game in a new light.
Completely Agreed on the Marathon idea. I have come back to this game a couple of times over the years only to burn myself out trying to follow guides for "optimal" gear. Coming back this time with a mind set of enjoying the combat, learning a new class, and maybe even exploring the world some, has been a much more enjoyable time. Especially with how much there is to enjoy outside the gear chase. Loved the vid!
Saw your video from BlueSquadron's review of your video. I subscribed and liked the video. I love BDO and your video was really positive. I know that the pvp part of the game is in a pretty bad/awful state for pvp players. I'm a pve player so I don't touch pvp. I enjoy the pve part of the game. It's nice to see that you enjoy the game. The video was awesome and I enjoyed it because it's full of positivity. Keep up the great work and hope to see more positive videos on the game. Keep it up bro.
Bro.. I just discovered BDO like 3 weeks ago and totally hooked.. It's the exact kind of gameplay I've been looking for, and I can't understand how I never stummbled on it sooner.
Because people wouldn't normally recommend it before cause of how frustrating some systems are for long term play. It's much better now with a lot of catch up and free stuff and I suspect it'll be even better with the coming updates.
From a BDO veteran point of view, this video was very refreshing. We veterans are very unhappy with the state of the game right now and seeing somebody playing it for the first time and enjoying it reminds me that even if I have alot of heat for the game it still is my number one MMO of all time. This said, what you said about questing is unfair, it's far worse than you think it is and from what I've learned with friends and also new guild member, this is one of the bigger reasons the game struggles to find new player. The quests are aweful.
So true. There are so many things to enjoy in this game if you don't take the end game too seriously. its a wonderful game. Can't wait for the Crimson Desert in 2025!
Great video, welcome to the game! It sounds like you're someone who plays out of the love of playing games with an open mind to learn and enjoy the bits and pieces, and it's really nice to see. I hope you stick with it, and find some great times to have. Was surprised to see the ambassador mention, not too many players notice us in our corner of the forums and discord, but we got your back to the best of our abilities (:

Been playing ever since early release and I still love the game been trough all the changes and everything I love BDO a lot and its nice to see some positivity!

From my experience playing quitting and coming back and quiting BDO again and again is be ready for the grind. You may have a lot of activities to do, but within those activities there is little to no variety. I remember trying to take it slow and progress at my own pace and after about 300 hours on one alt I had barely reached mid game gear score and was still grinding the same couple spots I had since the beginning. It was then I decided that BDO just wasn't for me, the amount of time needed to reach anywhere near "end game" was just too ridicules for me.

Find a class that looks cool to you and just play the game! you can copy your items to a second character that you might like later!
@@DapprDak thank you for making a video about bdo. Forgot to mention my earlier comment was for the people on the fence playing this game. 😅 Still hoping for a new generation of players to play BDO and keep it alive.
Yeah I remember hating the game and told to myself to quit for good.. then coming back after a few months XD. Theres a lot of good MMOs but man nothing can top BDO's combat, it's enough to make you comeback ones in a while and also lifeskill if u just want to relax . I'm also looking forward for Crimson Desert which I'm sure has a solid combat.
How much did PA paid you? just kidding, this is the exact feeling that i felt when i first started playing BDO. everything was overwhelming and exciting at first but once you get the hang of it you crave for more!
13k hours of active gameplay and just now it came to an end of my journey.. did everything and im out of content, the only thing there is for me now is the owpvp which doesnt exist
I'm a veteran player that left BDO about 7 months after it's release, I still think that BDO has the best combat in any game I have ever played. The P2W is what made me leave on top of the enhance system that still causes so many mental health issues to people across the world in this community. I play wow mainly but often find myself looking for something for me. I end up coming back here to BDO just to log in and look at my characters and grind mobs for a while because the combat feels so damned good. I've never been good at anything in this game and would never waste anyone's time trying to pvp and in that is another issue. I can't grind in locations due to others automatically flagging up to fight for their rotations. It's what I chose to do to make silver as all the other ways take too much time, or I can't figure them out due to lack of knowledge or mental handicaps. By the time I can get comfortable on a class that I like, another class is added that I of course want to try out. Since I can't make silver to buy the gear for my characters, I can't progress at all and fall further and further behind. With all this being said, I still can't wait to get back inside just to grind mobs, such a fun way to pass the time, Combat truly shines. I am glad that the game is better for newer players, I do still feel that it's pay to win though, but am happy that they give away things that players need like the tier 8 mounts and pets. I don't want the developers to decrease the skill level for players like myself, I just wish there was a way for me to progress through mob farming that doesn't get me killed by other players or is locked down by a guild. Should I just walk away again? Always a thought that passes while I play BDO. It hurts, BDO is such a Beautiful looking MMO with a lot to offer, I just wish I was a skilled player so I can enjoy the game more. This was a great watch and makes me want to log back in right now. I'll be looking out for more of your content if only just to live vicariously through you.
They removed non-mutual war decs (meaning one guild declaring war on another without the other guild's consent), and increased the karma penalty for open world PvP. There are also marni realm grind spots. These are a private solo instances that you can grind in for a set amount of time each day without being bothered. Open world PvP is a lot less common then what it was, and there are ways to avoid it. Flagging for PvP is also disallowed on Seasonal Servers (something new or returning players should definitely do for the gear catch up mechanics) and Olvia servers (accessible to new and returning players).
Havent played this game in years but i heard something about hardcore servers coming is it already in the game or not i might start playing if i dont need to grind
BDO ruined mmos for me, the combat is unmatched and with all its flaws it has its own charm that's hard to shake (plus a decent money investment over the years). A former Siege/T4 NW Witch/Ranger, unfortunately work prevents most large scale activities, so I tend to come back periodically during big events (Anniversary or Winter holiday) for top tier rewards and have a guild that keeps me around even if I stay logged out for extended periods still giving guild bonuses which is super nice. Nice vid, like the positive vibes!
Play BDO guys. Stop listening to people who didnt play this game or are frustrated with their life taking out on the flaws of the game. it's one of the best MMOs ever made. And is still improving.
As a non mmos fan, this game is unreplaceable. Tried so many games hoping can replace this game, still none, not even close. Quit this game for 1-3 years, back again. Quit again, back again. Quit again, and now i back again and its been 3 months. Literally unreplaceable.
I started recently and although I think the game has lots of good points I found myself kinda bored with the grinding and I hadn't even finished season. From what I can tell the game has good combat but nothing to put it to use on. The mobs are just brain numbingly uninteresting. I did enjoy the hard mode world bosses, thought, but you can't really farm them. The lifeskill stuff is cool too but energy limits what you can actively do too much. So I haven't bought anything and don't think I will. I read comments that said if I hated the grinding then the game just isn't for me. It's a shame, because I think it really does have a cool world and the sheer variety of stuff and systems is cool.
Black Desert has got to have the worst new player experience of any game I can think of. Literally spam t and r for the first 20 or so hours and then find out it costs $100s to get things that make the game playable like, the campsite, fairy skills, weight, inventory, storage, value pack, kama, book of old moon, pets, maids, and more when they decide to add them. And then grind for 5000 hours so that you can grind another 5000 hours but faster!
BDO now has 3 dungeons, 10 solo bosses, 7 party bosses all of these with puzzles and mechanics that can be pretty fun. It also has guild bosses, world bosses, and some solo open world bosses (dark rifts) that are not that impressive, but okay loot pinatas. The lifeskill system is a huge chunk of the content outside of those, can dump thousands of hours into it.
Bdo unironically has more content than most triple A mmos. Maybe not FFXIV tho. People shit on bdo cause its p2w when you literally get spoonfed items to catch up
i tried to pick a MMO better than BDO and failed everytime hahah for your happiness or no, bdo still the best mmo on world today I mean, you can love old mmos but black desert destroys every role
Looks great but that's about it for Pros really. People say how complex this game is, honestly i think it isn't. If you mean utterly overcomplicated than yes, but it doesn't make it complex at all... Game shoves it's 256 different subsystems in your face without explanation. I've spent more time on youtube trying to untangle that all over the place skill system and to how to use certain Items in the inventory because sometimes the obvious click on it with RMB is probably not overcomplicated enough i guess. I've been playing MMOs in the past 20 years and BDO is literally the worst experience so far i couldn't wait to close/uninst the game at around hour 30...
Best mmo. And this is from a guy that dorsnt like mmos. Combat and being a sandbox is what keeps me going
I'm glad to hear you're enjoying BDO. The combat and sandbox elements really make it stand out in the MMO genre.

It's a shame, because I think it really does have a cool world and the sheer variety of stuff and systems is cool.
Sadly i play the game for like 4 days then they blocked my ip so i just installed the game after i downloaded it so i back to guild wars 2
You hate this game because you love it.
To the game is super easy now so everyone can donit
Is this game p2w?
But what is there to do just level up. No dungeons just killing mobs and pvp
People shit on bdo cause its p2w when you literally get spoonfed items to catch up
i tried to pick a MMO better than BDO and failed everytime hahah
for your happiness or no, bdo still the best mmo on world today
I mean, you can love old mmos but black desert destroys every role
My biggest complaint is no character creation.
They deleted my old account with everything so I cant get back into it smh
