- I have long adored this song by the late Leonard Cohen, and performed impecably by Jennifer Warnes.
This is the performance at Night of the Proms in Antwerp in 1992. I have edited the audio from the Famous Blue Raincoat 20th Anniversary edition.
Featured artists: Bass - Warren McCrae, Choir - Het West Brabants Operakoor & De Tweede Adem, Drums - Jack Bruno, Guitar - John Miles, Percussion - Deric Dyer, Piano - Oliver Marland.
I do not claim copyright nor monetisation for this video, and post purely for artistic merit.
Incroyable cette interprétation, Jennifer Warnes semble complètement habitée par cette chanson de Cohen, l'une de ses plus belles, et quelle voix !!!
This song hits me in the guts like a Flannery O’ Connor story.
Jennifer always makes sure she has the most magnificent sound production. Even live, she is sonically beautiful. Her voice is not marred by distortion or lacking it's subtle inflection.
Ella es simplemente magica, unica, como todo en esos años musicos reales😢😢😢
Wow what a magnificent voice
superb, love these live performances.
Her voice is just stunning.
The emotion!!
Queste si che sono canzoni, cantanti veri e fortissime emozioni, questa è LA MUSICA, NON GALLINE SENZA NIENTE DA DIRE MEZZE NUDE, CHE GRANDE STELLA DELLA MUSICA

Such a gifted artist. Thank you! 🙏🙏
Beautiful song
Beautiful and melodic voice. 🎉
Utterly transfixing. My God, what a voice!
It's a voice without any pretense, isn't it? Magnificent!
musica linda demais
A strange and mysterious coincidence; Antwerp, Belgium, the city of this performance, is where William Tyndale, little more than a hundred years after Joan of Arc was executed, was also arrested and later burned at the stake! In both cases, religious persecution factored into their deaths. Tyndale, of course, was the man who gave the west its first mass distributed publication of the Bible, in English.
Wow -- amazing song, and amazing singer. All I knew of Warnes was her Blue Raincoat album, but I see she has done much more. She certainly knows how to bring a song to a crescendo. Cohen's songs were so deep, and she drags all of that depth right out of the song and puts it into her voice. Magnificent.
She was in the '60s musical "Hair" and was featured on the late '60s Smothers Brothers Comedy Show named "Jennifer" . karl
