- Lavaughan Jenkins (b. 1976, Boston) is a painter, printmaker, sculptor, and graduate of Massachusetts College of Art and Design. He uses the materiality of paint to build up two- and three-dimensional works that merge figuration with abstraction.
He speaks here about creating "three-dimensional paintings," taking inspiration from Goya, and how he ended up becoming an artist (and not a football player).
Jenkins is one of four artists included in the 2019 James and Audrey Foster Prize exhibition at the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston.
The exhibition will feature more than 30 of his standing, kneeling, and “duchess” figures-works built of oil paint that engage with contemporary fashion as well as racial and sexual identities. - บันเทิง
I love these! So much power and dignity in each of them. The way the artist uses paint in a sculptural way feels fresh and exciting! ❤❤❤
Have I been living under a rock??!!!This is so dope 🔥🔥👏🏾👏🏾✨✨🚀🚀
love this dude.
Love you, Lavaughan! Always have been and will always be the real deal.
LAVAUGHAN, Thank you very much. I am very happy to have known part of your work. I am spanish, and the fact that Goya's paintings have inspired you and that your Mother is part of all your multidimensional canvases, touch my heart. Greetings from Mallorca- Balearic Islands- Spain. Let's see if I see you exhibiting in Spain ...
So glad to have this kind of glimpse into the artist's studio and stories (through Patricia Sweetow Gallery)
great man and great work
I liked your video. You produce painted sculptures that are simply alive and depict real or imaginary people. There’s something good in your art.
👍😍 Great sculptures!
Wonderful
Very original good post to watch with my coffee on a quiet Sunday morning
Thank you for this. I really like his work = a wonderful mix of 3D shapes & painting! Lavaughan has inspired me so much I want to go and try to make something a bit like his (maybe), I used to make 3D work but haven't for ages, so thank you for reminding me to (I've got a brain injury and have memory problems).
amazing work
Great Art!!!
What a lovely human being!
🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾💯💯💯💞💞💞
Lavaughan, Thanks for sharing this great story and glimpse into your process. I love your 'paintings' and am inspired to create a video of my own work.
This makes me vry happy
These look like impressionist dolls as if they were plucked out of crowds in the background. The impasto is so thick and great.
How does ONE BUY his art PLEASE
