- This place's location will remain a secret, but I wanted to make a video from here anyway as it is such an awesome place to ride. I've ridden a good few places across the country now, and I still reckon this place is king.
I've been here before but didn't realize just how many trails I didn't get round to riding. In this video, I ride some steeper trails down the main face of the hill with Rich and Ben for company.

Riding steep trails is tough as they are so committing. It’s all about confidence, which is hard to gain.

Kudos to the trail builders there - what a cracking job. They looked like an epic set of trails. And the Highlanders seemed more than up to the job too (both the bikes & riders).

Nice vid. Added bonus seeing the Boxer dug 😁. Had a Boxer for 12 yrs so they always put a smile on my face when I see one stoating about.
That was a seriously nice dog! I’m guessing he is a cross breed of sorts as he was very big and had a full length trail.

The last trail stays to the right of the wall now and takes a much better line down. Yes the guys that make those trails are heroes. Hope to bump in to you again up there sometime plus there's a few other places you'd like too.

My local trails haven't been in ages as they where all really intimidating but that first trail you hit looked alright, going to head back up again and try find it and ride it

The guys have done an incredible building these trails. Deviate have made an amazing bike, but have nothing to do with the trails though.

Are those trails legal? I happen to have a lot of headwind as I ride trails that are technically not legal.
There are legal, but that part of the problem, the land owner is cool with how things are just now, but don’t want people travelling from around the country to ride here.

"This place's location will remain a secret" BUT I will post a video about it, telling you all how great this place is and during that video where I show off these amazing trails, I'll tell you again that I can't share the location cause all you pesky bikers will come and ruin our trails.
What the actual Poop! These trails are in Scotland and on open land, therefore accessible by all and shouldn't be "hidden". Hiding Trails, or being secretive about locations is elitist and frankly unnecessary by both riders/filmers/trail crew. If it's so secret, why film and share it online? Are you local to those trails? If not, why should you get more access than someone else? If it's SO secret, why is the opening scene filled with muddy puddles full of mtb lines?
I say in the intro that they aren’t secret but I don’t want to advertise the location.
The trails are on privately owned land, with the permission of the owner, public liability insurance is also paid for by the trail builders.
The only condition is that it didn’t become overwhelmed with too many people.
I ride these trails because I found them myself, but I don’t want to be the guy who let everyone know about them, which may lead to them being banned/destroyed.
I regularly ride at these trails, and know many others in the area that do to. In the regional area I would say most people know about it, even non mountain bikers. There are many dog walkers/family groups/runners and multiple bike guiding/coaching providers (some who are not local) that use this woodland for a variety of uses. It's not really a secret!
Private land/public liability insurance is common for trail building crews, that doesn't mean that riders can't ride on these trails.
I just find it ironic that your so keen to publicise a video about trails which "shouldnt be overused" / should be kept a secret. which are trails that have been purposely built for mtb, yet your more than willing to share the location of many mountainous mtb routes throughout Scotland which will get much more damaged by a much smaller foot fall of riders? Wheres the logic ?
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for sharing locations, but maybe some vlogged approach to how to not overuse trails, only ride in the correct conditions ie..avoid moorland in the wet etc etc might be useful.

If I share the location, It’s because the trails are well known already and/or, there is no harm to do so.
Every now and then though, there are exceptions, this being one of them.
I was asked specifically to not share the location by the locals after being told of the situation, which is understandable given my following on here.
This is the only place I’ve not shared the location off on the channel, I didn’t think it would cause so much of a stir.

These trails aren’t really secret, I just didn’t want to bring loads of attention to them, that may risk their future.

If its private land thats one thing, but this clearly is not.

This hill is actually privately owned and these trails are made with permission, but only with the current circumstances.
People travelling from other areas to ride here would very much jeopardise their future.
@@McTrailRider fair comment, just getting a little tired of certain riders building a feature in the public woods, (most of the time without permission) and then feeling they now own this particular trail.

The land owner just didn’t want the place to become a destination and get busy.
If it does he will no longer endorse the building of trails on his land.
Don't understand this build and keep it secret mentality. More trails accessible the better for everyone into the sport. Kind of childish if you ask me posting a video, then telling the viewers it's a secret.

Of course that would be better, but I like to film my rides and people like to watch.
