he pitched down the sample and used 2 layers of the same loop, one of these has a low-pass filter (bass) and the other one's cut on the low frequencies. the hihat and snare sound pretty normal, but the kick drum, that's just insane, pure genius.
@@Eddsucks I think everyone needs to step up and strive to find their own greatness, if one man can do it maybe others can discover their own tricks.. Of course I am thankful his music is immortalized.
Walking through the streets on a cold winter day. Snow flocks blowing past me like sweet memories. Head-phones on, step by step walking toward unknown destiny.
"Most producers will just take 4bars and program them 4 bars and then loop and then loop " jay dee definitely didn't repeat his drum patterns on this one . dope!
Sick snare! Sounds filtered and eq d compared to the original break, really makes it crack. I’d love to know what snare he uses on the track timeless reminds me a bit of this one.
I’m playing bitches like a gameboy Since I was 16 , it hasnt been the same boy my exes new bf , is a lame boy But that’s ok , cause Ima hit em wit that flame boy Me and Joey pullin bunnies , like we playboy ... this beat makes me think about time past in my past , see the sand in this hour glass Shit make me wanna glance back But I can’t bring old friends back
Riddle me this: This "J Dilla track" is to my ears almost exactly (different pitch, but same kind of kick and snare and the same playfulness/unpredictability in the drum pattern) the beat and production of Kombo MC's track 'I Don't Stop' from '99 (please look it up!) but is credited to A.D.L.I.B.. So what's the deal here? Any hardcore hiphop heads out here who know!?
Yes! That's where I know this beat from too. I heard that Kombo MC track first, on Stretch and Bobbito back in '99. I never knew who produced it, so my first thought was that this is the same beat. But then I found out that Jay Dee made his version a few years earlier. It's not uncommon that multiple producers use the same sample. But to me, this will always be the Kombo MC beat.
@@Reds_C I highly doubt that "they bit Jay". This beat from an album of previousy unreleased tracks. If Dilla never even used it, how did someone copy it from him? And besides, a lot of times multiple producers use the same samples unbeknownst to each other. It happens all the time. It's called a coincidence.
@@spek-27 cmon man its the same cut just different drums and it was filtered harder on that Kombo Mc joint... Coincidence? I don't trust none of that... Dilla might never used it but he's stuff was hot at that point and he played his shit on the regular...

Dude was a prodigy
No one can makes beats like him
I'm %100 sure, J Dilla is from another planet.
deserves so many more plays....but its inspiring to see how underground some of Dilla's tracks are.
Dilla digging is probably the most relaxing thing one can do after a long day at work.
I really have so much love for this man 😭😭 how did he get drums and bass lines this crisp in fucking 1995? It's just surreal
It is a sample of Jazz vibraphone legend Gary Burtons recording "Times Square". The song is called "Radio"

This was one was my ringtone for years, one of my fav Dilla beats for sure.

What’s your point? I’d argue that it’s harder to play this with real drums than programming with your fingers
