    When everything else is 5,000 to 20,000 over MSRP, does Maserati start to enter the chat at 20-25k under MSRP?

    • @K03sport
      @K03sport 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Is that enough to offset the dealer visit pain? Plus, how many Maserati dealers are there. First off, the MSRP is way too high to begin with, so there's that. This is not a 6-figure car!!!; should be 80s and marked down from there. The 911 is now a 6-figure car and this Maserati is no 911.

    I am currently driving my 4th Maserati right now. The last one was a 2019 SQ4 GranSport just like yours. Maserati is not for everyone. If you are into tech gadgets, Maserati is not for you. If the gap between the door and the pillar bothers you, then it is not for you. Cheap Chrysler parts like window switch bothers you then you should not look at a Maser. It will give you unexplainable things here and there as you drive everyday. The joy of driving a Maser is totally different. As for Q4, you will have to watch out for tires and brakes as they wear out in speed of light. I had to go through 3 sets of front tires and 2 sets of rear tires in 25K miles... Of course 2 sets of front and a set of rear brakes including rotors too... It is just different fun to drive a Maser. All of my previous Maser did not have to go to the shop besides annual svc while I owned them. It is better than you think. Although they will discontinue Ghibli and QP next year. Oh... Do not drive a Maser in normal mode.. Mine stays on sports mode 24/7. My other cars aren't happy as I take this one out everyday even on weekends... I had 50/50 portion of German/Italian cars in my garage few years ago but now it is 90% Italian. Graduated from German cars.. Even my son drives his 2nd Giulia and loves it.

    To see a Maserati driving on the road, is like suddenly meeting a girl of unusual beauty walking down the street.

    The Ghibli’s interesting. I own a 2016 SQ4 and it has great character; Lovely exhaust, decent handling. It’s a fun car. But to own for the past 5 years? Mixed opinions. It’s pretty spacious and the rear trunk actually is the unsung hero imo, giving tons of storage space. Keep in mind it’s a long car. The issue I constantly have, however, especially owning it where winters get cold, is the car does not start when it gets below freezing. You have to jump start it each time and I just swapped out the battery with a new one. I’m not sure what the issue is, but after the hassles, it’s a fun drive.

      They are not bad on reliability. Know two people with them and they love them. I think Ghibli's (or all Maserati's for that matter) get a bad rap because of over blown problems with them. The same people who hate Maserati's and call them trash are the same who ignore problems with vehicles like Tesla's and BMW's. As gorgeous as the Ghibli is, I can’t help but wish that Maserati had chosen another name. My father had a 1971 Maserati Ghibli, which has to be one of the most gorgeous cars ever, there are no bad angles to view it from. The 4.9 liter V8 is a beast, and it manages to sound beautiful and brutal at the same time. It’s a big car, and luckily the original owner ordered it with the optional power steering, making it a very easy car to drive at slower speeds. It was pitted against the Ferrari 365gtb/4 “Daytona”’ when they were new, but it’s a much easier car to drive. I’ve had the Ghibli up to 150 mph, and it’s very stable.

    • @JohnSmith-in1tt
      @JohnSmith-in1tt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@niraj7616 In my eyes, it's really just the GranTurismo that stands out as the best. A clean, low mileage late example will go for about $90K but it delivers the best looks, driving experience and reliability by far. That 4.7L Ferrari V8 is incredibly intoxicating. Not to mention it's the only Maz that will hold it's value fairly well. (New GT may change that but it's going to be a very different car - TT V6 w/AWD so maybe not)
      Second place, I'd put a 2019ish Ghibli, which can be had for about $35k-$55k with all wheel drive and 424hp. Performance and practicality is very good for the price, but watch reliability - definitely go for a low mileage example if you can.
      Quattroporte/Levante is a close third. Performance practicality and reliability are about the same but handling is slightly worse as it's a larger car compared to Ghibli.
      Don't bother with anything older like a 4200GT. They can be tempting at $25Kish but the trans will break if you look at it the wrong way and looks and performance are nothing special by modern standards.

    Sorry Ted, I did not see a $90k driving experience, let alone a $113k experience. Maybe the need for these "discounts" is the market telling Maserati that the MSRP is too high and is not in line w/the image of the car. After all, a chrome turd is still a turd. This is a (maybe) a $90k car that needs to be in the $70ks. If Maserati doesn't like that, then too bad, such is life. Alfa Romeos also need to knocked down a notch too...

      @avipillai1584 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I totally agree that this Maserati’s discount is evidence that it’s just overpriced for what it is. Interesting you bring up Alfas needing to be brought down too, however. The current Alfa products already undercut their rivals by a couple of grand-how much further do you think they need to go? They seem to beat the Germans in dynamics but fall short on the interior. But I’m not sure if the Alfas really need to be priced even lower since they’re already more “Acura” money as compared to “BMW” money. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

    This car does not look high end at all. Look at the interior of a S Class. Even if you took away the Mercedes logo you know that is a special car. The starting price is about the same but the interior and exterior blows the Maserati away. I think Maserati messed up by making cheaper models to get more customers. A decade ago the price of your average Maserati was $125k. Now they have some models starting in the high 60s.

      @bbqnachos you've never owned a Toyota or Honda clearly 😆 Obviously they break too & I've had a few serious Honda issues, but generally speaking, they are built better than anything else on the road & have quality control which is UNMATCHED. It's not even close.

    😭Maserati is blocked from the chat. What kinda price is $114k?! WILD. With great options like a Corvette, a Lexus, an RS 3 etc., why bother?

    Cool sound, decent looks, good driving experience. However, I always think of Doug DeMuro shoving a tube of toothpaste in the doorgap when I spot a Ghibli...

      I instead actively try not to think about De Muro under no circumstances, and I must say it makes life better. Try that.

      @Daniele Regoli Facts! Doug is great in all, but the car community thinks way too high of him. I know 2 people who own these and they think they're great. They have nothing but praise for the brand. They never have had an issue, as opposed to the people I know with BMW's which wish they never bothered buying them.

    For less than half this cars discounted price you could get a perfect 50k mile e39 m5, that will get you similar performance, throw an android head unit in there and it’s practically a modern sports car. Tell me I’m wrong

    Discount, yes. That $25,000 discount will go in repairs. Maserati are money pits no matter how well you'll maintain it.
