    deciding what instrument i want to play for band this year (i’m a beginner and i’ve never played anything in my life but the flute has always interested me) and this video seems quite helpful! if i do end up choosing flute i’ll definitely come to your videos :)

      Pizza, that's great that you are choosing an instrument this year! The advantage of the flute is that it's compact (and sounds great of course!), the advantage of another less-common instrument (like oboe, trombone, french horn) is that you'll be in demand as a player when you get good! Best of luck with whatever you choose!

    I’ve played clarinet, and I’m trying flute on my extra time! I do clarinet for band, and bass clarinet for jazz. Flute seems fun! It won’t be my main focus, but I’ll do your course probably!

      That's awesome! The one thing I would suggest is to remember to use less air for flute. Clarinet you need a lot more as there is resistance, but flute has none, so remember to be gentle with your airstream in comparison to Clarinet! 😀

    Hi again Jane thanks for the quick response!!! Is there anyone online that you can recommend for beginners??? Cause like you said the teacher is so very important!!! I love your basic flute style teachings … Thanks again

      Hi Mothergoose!
      I hope your flute playing is going well! The Flute Academy is not for total beginners but if you can play a few scales and pieces, you're definitely at the right level to join. You definitely don't need to be an advanced player!

    Regarding the last tip, would it pose a problem if I already know how to read music, but have not begun to learn flute?

    • @JaneFluteSchool
      @JaneFluteSchool  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ella, yes it's a very good idea for you to learn to play a few melodies and scales first without the music first. It'll just give you a chance to actually learn how to listen to yourself. So good question!

    Hi Jane I sent you a question on your website… I’m 60 years old and a total beginner, not knowing a note of anything… would your classes be the right path for me or should I start at a beginner level??? Thanks I like your attitude for how you go about playing a flute … Thanks again

    • @JaneFluteSchool
      @JaneFluteSchool  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mother Goose! That's wonderful that you'd like to learn! The Flute Academy is good to join when you already know a few notes on the flute, can get a sound and know a few short melodies. The academy is wonderful, but it's best if you've been learning for at least 6 months before joining! Then you'll get the most benefit from it. You've also given me a great idea to create a course in the future just for beginners like you! Best of luck learning :)

      @@JaneFluteSchool thank you so much for your fast response.. one last question do you have any ideas of where to go for me??? Cause like you said and I believe is so true ( that’s why I choose you) the teacher is of the ut most important… Thanks again

      @@tommy..980 Hi Mothergoose! A good idea is to google "flute associations" in your city, and they will definitely be able to give you some good recommendations for teachers. Best of luck learning - I'm sure you'll do well because you are already so motivated to learn :)

      That piece is called Morning Mood by Edvard Grieg. Here's the link to the flute sheet music if you're interested in playing it. 😀

    Which brand should I buy my 8th grade daughter. Can you help please?

      Is she 8th grade on Flute? I play on a Muramatsu flute in case you were wondering 😀 Definitely take her to a flute shop and she can try out a few flutes in your budget first before you purchase. How exciting for her! 😀
