  • (Watch in HD). How much money should you prepare for your 1st month in the US as a J1 visa teacher?
    Please note that the other smaller expenses are not included yet. Some things life furniture can wait or you can check your neighborhood as it's quite common for people to donate their old stuff which are still good for use most of the time.

    You didn’t seem to list the airline ticket which at this time, runs close to $2,000. This usually comes from a loan from the family member with the credit card or the biggest savings account. I was hoping you would say how much you should have getting off the airplane. My SIL will go to Florida next month. The 1900/month rental seems typical of what we’ve seen but doesn’t include furniture rental or furnished apartment prices.

      there are visa sponsors that shoulder the airfare. My visa sponsor took care of my airfare up to $750. I only have to pay for whatever was in excess. Also, the deductions do not usually start right away. As for my visa sponsor, they started the deductions in the second month.

      I think it depends. But usually, you should hear from them within 48 hours. For others, it would take longer too.

      Ahm... what you can do is check the cost of living in Kentucky and see how much will be your take home...like an estimate. It's a bit low but like I said, it might be okay if the cost of living in Kentucky is not high.

    May mga part time jobs po ba dyan sa US for Filipino teachers aside from the regular teaching work?

      tutoring, doing summer/spring camps, bus duties, coaching, lunch duties, overload. You are not aloud to work outside of the employer stated in your ds2019. If caught, your visa will be terminated.

    Hello mam, I am following your Vlogs.. new follower po ako.. May I ask how many months po ang process ng application?

    • @Teachingandmore
      @Teachingandmore  ปีที่แล้ว

      really depends on how ready you are with the documents. But if you apply in January (assuming all papers are ready), you should get interviews by February. If interviews go well, you should receive job offers by March. Between the employer interview and job offer it will only take not more than 2 days. The rest (vis application, clearance from your school etc.) will depend on you. The entire process can be as short as 4 months and in my case, since I was not ready with all the documents before I started my applications, it took me a total of 7 months. I started the application in January I was in the US by August (my visa appointment was the longest one I waited for).
