I love the sound of this pedal. Very tube like for an older design, and works great as a dirty O.D.

REALLY REALLY NICE! It's like a slightly more 80's voiced OD-1 on non turbo and a better BD-2/OD-3 on turbo. Why is it so underrated?

Awesome man just what i was looking for....got one of these beauties coming. Listened to the OS-2 and it sounds brighter...really like the grittier drive sound of the OD-2. Can't wait to plug it in now. Awesome video...thanks for this. Cheers!

👍🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽one of Yoshi & teams hidden gems - when turbo off is like the OD-1 due to the circuit then turbo distortion 🤘🏽

      I like both settings!!

Actually no, the OD2 is closer to what is now the BD2 and the OD3. It was a brand new circuit at the time it was released. The OD-1 eventually became the SD1, circuit wise.

@@LeviBulger The OD-2 was manufactured (March '86 Japan) as a replacement for the OD-1 in the mid-1980s and uses only discrete components. It has 3 potentiometers for level, drive, tone control and a switch for selecting two modes of operation.
There are three gain stages, each made up with two JFETs and one PNP BJT. Not completely unlike the “discreet opamps” seen in some designs (the BD-2 blues driver When set to the off position the sound is similar to the OD-1 but in the turbo mode it generates more gain and distortion.
The original Turbo Overdrive was manufactured from 1985 and it got replaced by OD-2r in 1994. OD-2r is supposedly the same effect as this one, only with added remote switch jack for the mode switch.

@@BV_Beve Nice copypasta, but my point stands. Circuit wise, they are completely different in how they clip/overdrive. The OD2 may have been the next in line, but the circuit was brand new for Boss. Meanwhile, the SD1 is nearly identical to the OD-1 with an added tone control. You can look all this up, there's plenty of info.

@@LeviBulger Always interested in opinions in comments. As Yoshi (Ikegamii) Boss Head is a friend I sent him a message asking his opinion on the above "nice cut & paste" - interestingly he messaged back with the exact same link confirming it as correct - only adding this to his message “it’s discrete differential amp works same to OP amp” - the link is - www.hobby-hour.com/electronics/s/od2-turbo-overdrive.php Have a good day 🙂

Not sure which one I want….the turbo with the switchable turbo on/off (extra 1/4” jack near input)…..or the dual overdrive (SD-2) w/switchable other drive setting…..big SD-1 fan here….hoping that’s the idea with both pedals….

Can't lose when you get a Boss pedal. I still have my Metal zone pedal and won't be letting it go. Boss is the best (of the huge pedal makers)/
