I can’t wait for your magical melody video. I hope you stream it. I hold that game very close because they brought my favorite bachelorettes (Gwen and Eve) and flushed their characters out a little more and aloud you to marry them ( all the ones from save the homeland)
@@JoshGamingGarden That would be amazing! I've also missed on all the DS/3DS titles of HM and Rune Factory because i'm visually impaired and I never owned one because I can't see small screens very well. I can play the switch in portable fine, but probably would have never have bought that either if not for the docking? I'd just love to be able to play all the stuff I missed out on. As much as I want to, though, I also have decided to not go down the path of emulation. That feels a bit morally sticky for me, and I think it's in a legal gray area at best.
One thing I learned pretty fast is that time stops once it becomes night. You will never stay awake though the entire night. So all farming work that is not selling stuff can be done during the night without penalties, like cleaning the farm,, planting and watering crops and gathering wood. If you run out of stamina, just go to the hot springs. Save the day time for harvesting, gathering items to sell, fishing, shopping and talking to people.
I played this game around 2017 and I enjoyed it. I liked how simple is was no saving the harvest goddess story just a game where you take care of your farm. The music is also very good in this game.
This game has such an interesting history! 😄 It's probably more well-documented than later games, but I'll try to include as much as I can for this series.
This was my first Harvest Moon game and kind of still my favorite. Sure the newer ones have much more content, but I kind of like the simplicity of this game. That's why I find it easy to come back to and replay it once in a while again.
I SOOOO look forward to this series!!! Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons is one of my favorite game series of all time. I recently tried to replay the first HM on SNES, but had a hard time getting into it. Back to Nature and 64 on the other hand!!! I played thos recently and lost myself in them immediately!
I’m super excited for this series! The first video was awesome. The SNES harvest moon will always be in my top 5 because of nostalgia. The sprite work and over all look of the game is so pleasing to me and along with the music just makes it’s worth playing (in my opinion). I can’t wait for the next video!
I just recently discovered this game. As a kid who grew up with a SNES, has heard of the game, and never played it. I absolutely loved it and this was a great analysis/review of the game. Looking forward to discovering the rest of the main series console games along with this series.
I knew this game's history already, but I'm so happy you included this story in your video🥺 I also watched other interviews (ex. one with the Harvest Moon creator together with the Stardew Valley creator) and it was so wholesome and inspirational... I was at the verge of tearing up😹💗 More people nowadays should be made aware of how it all started. Also, your conclusion was on point 😌👌
I was super lucky to get a copy of this for the snes growing up. Unfortunately, i lent it to a friend who moved. Alas, it was lost in shipping, and i got the insursnce but could never replace the cartridge. I later got a reproduction cartridge by special request. I also have this game and an emulator on my phone at all times since the sony xperia play I love harvest moon. Great vid! Thanka for the nostalgia trip
This brought me back when I first played this 20 years ago. It is amazing to see where farming life sims have come. Harvest Moon was revolutionary. There's a nostalgia dopamine hit I get from watching this gameplay again. I long for the days when video games made me feel the same way.
The Harvest Moon series are my absolute favorite games! My first game was Save the Homeland for PS2, and it was just randomly given to me by an older cousin (I still have it 20 years later). I've been obsessed since! I not only still play these today but make an effort to just collect physical copies of all of them (even if I dont have the system to play them on 😅) I'm so excited for your videos!
Your cousin has great taste! 😍I also started collecting physical copies, I want to have a complete collection of Harvest Moon + Rune Factory! I recently bought the Japanese version for this one on the Super Famicom (the JP versions are always so much cheaper), even though I have nothing to play it on. 😆
Really interesting to see the gameplay of old. I've of course known of the game but never sat down and played it or watched a comprehensive review of it. You painted a good picture of it! I feel like I got a good grasp of it. It's amazing how much of it still remains the core of farming games today.
Near the end of the SNES era, I used to see tons of this game sitting on the Target game shelf for months. I regret not buying a copy now. Easily a top 5 SNES game for me.
My first was one on the Gameboy. It's interesting to see some of the similarities they maintained up until then. The winter season looked and sounded very similar to my first experiences with that game. Can't wait to see the rest of this series. Especially for the games I did not get to play yet.
Oooh, this is so great! The first Harvest Moon game I played was Harvest Moon DS and I had no damn clue what was going on...I might've still been a bit too young 😂 The Wii games finally got me into the series though (Animal Parade will forever have a special place in my heart 💜), so I'm very curious and excited to see what Harvest Moon/SoS was like before those games!
I’m exited to hear you talk about Hero of leaf valley mostly because it had such a limited release being on the psp in America. So many harvest moon players just never got to play this remake. Which had one of the better stories upgraded with the new characters. I still have my psp and it’s so pretty on the console.
I definitely look forward to you playing all these games. I have a special place for the N64 game and Playstation version in my heart but Trio of Towns took #1.
I'm also a lifelong fan of this series but I started with the GameBoy version of this game. A simple and cut down version, but the basics were there and planted the seeds to get me to fall in love with the genre. At some point when I was a teenager, I decided to play this version and really loved it. Hours and hours sitting down and playing the game, I felt like a little kid again! It's been years since then though and now I look at those memories with the same fondness as my memories of the experience playing the GameBoy version, maybe it's time to revisit it.
I remember playing similar Harvest Moon game on gameboy it is currently available on eshop in 3Ds. There was something about of game which made me interested in farming sim could do with charm and simplicity growing crops and raising animals. Most of games I've played on SNES were Super Mario platformers or racing. I didn't have much game in past and never had N64 or Game cube. I didn't like controls on the Wii. Only after when I brought 2Dsxl and Switch did I get more in farming sim genre. Like I said before I usually play JRPGs, action, strategy. I'm excited to see your reviews on other HM games.
My goodness this Video brings back memories. I LOVED! this game and played it for hours! Pretty sure i still have it somewhere, time to rummage aeound in my storage 😂
This was such a great game. As for the n64 one I couldn't tell I don't think it was ever released in Europe. This one and the very limited version on Game Boy are the only entries in the series I have played.
Back to Nature was my first one, and I played it a lot. This one though I have played a handful of times more recently. I never had any Nintendo systems growing up until the GBA came out.
Even if the studio had a couple issues that made the game not have all the features they wanted to add, is still quite impressive how much content it had in a time where memory cards where very límites at the time. It also created a new genre of simulation games which are still played and become popular a couple of years ago. I would also recomend the Did You Know Gaming video about Harvest Moon to know a bit more how the series started. 8:50 It seems guides tend to recomend Winter to socialise more with the townfolks since there is no much to do. So you could use that time to buy gifts and flirt with the bachelorettes.
My first HM game was Magical Melody. I was about 15, and had just gotten a GameCube. I rented Magical Melody from Blockbuster and fell in love! I had to have it, and I still do! I stupidly sold my GameCube because my Wii can play its games, so I can still play MM now, but there's definitely something to be said for the original experience
@@JoshGamingGarden "That's great you've got everything back! That game was so fun and cute! I also kind of loved pressing the Z button to highlight all the land parcels in different colors! I had beaten the original on emulator when I was 10 years old in 2001. Next I'll play 64, and then I'll be done with the series. I'm a bigger fan of the Kawa no Nushi Tsuri series.
