    My grandfather came from Ireland in the late 1800’s and settled in the Bronx, NY. My father was born in 1919. Some of the old photos in the family album reflected the way folks lived and enjoyed simple things like picnics, and family gatherings. God, family, country. Thanks for sharing,

      I could not resist buying a Kodak Cine`B 16. It is probably the camera type used. Mine seems to have the K mount lens. I've looked at cameras on E bay and you can get some fine 16 mm cameras for fairly little. I'd highly recommend the Keystone combat camera for its ease of use and the way it is loaded. Loading of the Kodak is some what difficult in comparison to the Keystone. The reason these films are superior is that they used 16 mm film as opposed to Super 8 film. 8 mm was horrible. In fact there are some new S8 cameras with improved gate mechanisms. Plate holds film flatter. They are a couple of thousand bucks. These days it is really hard to justify using film cameras. I do love digital cameras because I am not struggling with dust, or "hair in the gate".

    • @richarddowney1972
      @richarddowney1972 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TranscendianIntendor Now to find the film and especially processing. I have Bolex 8mm and Beaulieu super 8. Cameras have become objets d'art.

    • @TranscendianIntendor
      @TranscendianIntendor 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@richarddowney1972 The Beaulieu was a beautiful camera with lots of controls for shutter speeds et al. Bolex were reliable till they weren't. Year ago EBay showed some wonderful 16 and 35 mm packages you might use for making good looking commercials or music videos which do not really require the use of a great deal of film. You could buy an acceptable camera package for what would amount to a day and a half, or two day rate for a competing digital quality camera. Still a real business may be better off just paying the rental for a Panavision package and a First Assistant Camera. It is true that essentially film is dead. "Hair in the gate." Roger Deakins when speaking of Love of the Robot Woman or Blade Runner 2037?, that movie mentioned he had difficulties with the Lab so much as to prove film was dead. He was nicer about it. And then there is the joy of working with a motion picture camera you don't have to put an entire submarine around for the Sound Department. That you can carry the movie now on an external hard drive is awesome.

    My daughter-in-law couldn’t believe that when I was a kid in elementary school all the girls still had to wear dresses in school! LOL!!! And, believe me, in the wintertime when the snow was blowing it was not fun walking about 10 blocks to school with bare legs!! {LOL!!! I sound so old! “Back in the day, young whippersnapper, we walked 57 miles to school in bare feet in 26 feet of snow!!” LMAO!!!}

    • @Racingirl911
      @Racingirl911 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      MAC LOL!!! I know, right?!! I had it too easy!! Only 57 miles! Heck, my dad used to walk 273 miles to school! 🤔Hmmm? I wonder if that's why his sister lived to 103, and why he's still going strong at 91!!
      ••The ages of my aunt and dad are actually true! 🥰 They, and their brothers and sisters, grew up on a farm in the country during the Great Depression. So, yeah, everyone worked hard, and because they raised animals and planted vegetables, they were always healthy, too!! 😁 And, even though I come from pretty hardy stock, I have to admit that 57 miles is just a tad too far for me to walk!!! LOL!!! 😂

      YOU WERE LUCKY! When I was a child we had to use dynamite and pick axes and blast a tunnel 120 miles long through a glacier to get to our school, and we were happy to get there alive!. (BTW, any resemblance to the four Yorkshiremen is completely intentional)

      @MAC Tomato cans? YOU WERE LUCKY! we WISHED we had tomato cans! We only got Dynamite on special occasions, most of the time we broke off our own ribs to use as digging tools! Then we flopped around like a wet sack of laundry because we had no skeletons. (And you tell the young people that today and they won't believe you)
