  • Shot by an unknown American, these 16mm silent Kodachrome movies date back to the 1930s. The beginning shows a formal wedding. Scenes include entrance of the groom at :30, followed by the bride and bridesmaids at :59. The bride is at 2:00 with her father. The ceremony is seen at 2:10 with the ring going on the finger at 2;25. Big kiss at 2:33. Wedding cake gets cut at 3:25. At 3:40 we see a young boy, probably the son of the newlyweds, looks like the kid is getting his first haircut. At 4:30, a mock swordfight that is quite hilarious takes place on a farm. At 4:50, more scenes on the farm. The outfits look like the early 1940s. At 5:19, a dalmatian is seen. At 5:27 a very rare shot -- a woman lying in bed is seen, this was certainly rare given the mores of that era. At 5:38, son's birthday with the board game "Swamp Fox" given as a present. This material must date to the early 1960s or late 1950s as this game was part of a Walt Disney TV show starring Leslie Nielson. At 6:12, a girl plays with the family dog. At 6:40, another 1960s birthday party with candles being blown out. At 7:30, picnic with hamburgers and hotdogs, and soda. At 8:12 a game of patty cake. At 8:15, another wedding is shown, this one also quite elaborate. Bridemaids seen at 8:40. The bridge and groom are seen going to their car at 8:50. The groom is dressed in an Army outfit. Bride waves good bye at 9:12. At 9:30 a group of people emerge from a car in strong winds and two men lose their hats. At 10:12, another wedding is seen. This has some faded color...
At 12:00, kids are seen in Halloween costumes. Skeleton is seen at 12:50. Finally, a birthday at 13:00 with cake and ice cream.

Oh this is wonderful, thank you! It is like looking at old photographs but seeing all the stumbles and laughter between the poses. Adorable time travel!

Those Halloween shots reminded me of an photo and article from Halloween 1940 published several years back by the local paper. It featured my future mother in law and her friends dressed as Wizard of Oz characters. She was 16 as were her friends. Now all have passed. Last full year of peace before WW2 in USA.

That first bride...what a little cutie! Wonder what ever happened to these, at the time, happy people? I hope they had great, fulfilled and happy lives. Thanks for the upload. If anyone knows names, what happened to them, shoot me a line.

The Kenner girder and panel construction set was introduced in 1956. The box in the film was on the market in 1960.

I laughed out loud at 9:58 :-D The trail of shot glasses leading up to the woman on the couch jauntily waving two bottles back and forth. In short: party time. A Snapchat from the 1940s - who knew?!

The weddings are mid to late 1940s probably post WWII. The families are 1950s. Very charming and well done.

Back when people were happy because men went off to work while women were keepers of the home and took care if their children and raised them to be good citizens. Back before social media and t.v. when people actually knew how to entertain and have fun.

It was a time of only one person needing to work due to having enough money to live BUT, women had to join war efforts and work while men were away plus care for the home. Also, many men were becoming intoxicated and beating on their wives but hey if you think that’s a better time, go to it

Boomers always leave comments like " well..these were wealthy people" or " that was not real life" etc. Boomers hate that we know they ruined everything with their stupid revolution in the 60s.
