The very first lawn I quoted was just like the mentioned at the beginning of the video. I told the customer I'd do it for $200 and boy did I screw up. The leaves had compressed, the bottom layer was soaking wet, there were limbs and debris and literal trash under the leaves. I ended up putting 20 hours into that job. But at least the customer stiffed me when it came time for me to get paid. I definitely learned my lesson there.
@@darthvaderoftheredpill5196 they kept trying to add stuff to the order and when I said I wasn't doing it they claimed that we had already agreed on it. They said they weren't paying me full price so I ended up getting $100 for 20 hours of work. My other mistake was not having a written and signed work order so the customer couldn't say I didn't finish what we agreed on.
Michigan state university did a study on leaf mulching that showed that it's not only safe for lawns but beneficial. Up to 6" of leaves can be mulched at a time. Something to think about if it's the right kind of lawn and you want to save a lot of time, bags and gas money driving it all to the dump.
Great tips thank you. I have been practicing pressure washing and window cleaning on my friends houses until I go knock doors. Im gonna get a leaf blower and start knocking doors right away since its fall!
Im 3 yards in, and its been two weeks since ive started. Should have charged more for each of em. All i can say is yesterday price is not today’s price 😂
Don’t know if I have bid a clean up at 3 times less than what it’s taken. Maybe 1.5 times. But makes me hustle more. Every clean up you learn from. Hopefully most of your clean ups are recurring, so you can adjust price next clean up.
Even if he got less jobs at higher price, and still made the same after the season as he did getting more at lower price, it would be less work, more free time.
I bag mow over the leaves and charge $10/ 42 gallon contactor bag (trash bag) full of leaves needing hauled away. Light jobs produce 4-6 bags, medium 7-11, for average sized homes like in the video or smaller. 12-20 bags for properties 2-3 times the size of the home shown. Obviously cap your bagging fee and give discounts as needed
Ngl that wouldnt work in my area people want to know a price so then can compare to other prices or know what there gonna spend. Also its not that many variables walk through the leafs see how wet and heavy the pile is lol
How do you know it won't work? Have you tried it. I've been doing it that way for the last 15 years the only thing I give a bid price on is mowing and fertilizing. It's all on how you sell yourself to the customer.
@@Angel_Summons I did one this year and charged $85/hr.... Took me 1.5 hrs. That's when I realized I needed a minimum to show up, plus hourly. So now if I'm on a typical yard and take 2 hours, I make $320
I steal customers from guys like this. Leaves are super easy and can be done quite quickly. As a side job I can undercut pretty much everyone. That yard in the video, I’m doing it for 75 bucks and steal your customer and make some extra spending cash and stay active.

One of the most transparent and thorough conversations I've seen on pricing a yard job. Thank you!

Works great if it’s dry. Lol

Let's get some leaf money
Tulsa local! Thanks for the help. 2nd year going into leaf season, I'll take all the info I can get!

4:50 is when he gives you exactly what he says to the customer
Sweet stuff
Is it recommended to get one of those big machines used on the back of the truck? If not, is it still reasonable to begin a leaf removal business?
Kinda of leaves or tree play a role in pricing also.
Did he get more clients at $65 or when he raise the price or did it even matter?

A little wonder push blower is an awesome machine to have when using a leaf loader.
How can we find out the equipment setup required.
Very much appreciated!
How do I get rid of the leaves if I’m just started out and don’t have the leave machine to suck em up?

Price it by how short you are from getting up your rent money for the month
What’s your leaf cleanup minimum this year?

What the heck do you do with the leaves? Blow them into other yards?😂
where do I go to try quoteio's Hourly rate calculator
It’s under settings
I charge by the hour. If there's a ton of leaves it'll take longer, but it all balances out.
I’m raising my prices. Different job, but same principle
When you show up to do the job you notice the neighbors lawn has no leaves and the job you bid has more leaves than before.
what model back pack blower do you have?

Huge lawn like that gotta be $125 .
For the front yard. Id charge $225 front and back, probably
1:06 yeah let's blow the leaves into the open window of our truck...
$150 to show up plus $85/hr. Solo
How many years have you been charging like this?
@Angel_Summons honestly, this was my first yr. I lost out before cause I was learning....still am learning.
@@michiganman845 so would your average sized homes ticket be $275-$320?
I guess I pull $160-$220 on average sized stuff

@ getting paid to keep my community from being swindled by crooks is just a cherry on top. If they are members of my Parrish I do it for no charge
Same. I charge 40 an hour plus expenses and I'm booked solid all year long.
