Hi Karen, I chanced upon your channel today. This recipe looks great and I am going to try it on the weekend. Pls tell me how long you braised the beef and was it on high or medium flame? Thnks.
Thanks Lakshmi! I usually leave it on a moderate flame so there's no chance of burning. If you have an Instant Pot, I'm planning to redo this recipe in it.
I made it and my family liked it! I added carrots. I doubled the spices for 2 pound pot roast. It took me 35 minutes to cook it in American stove top pressure cooker.
Wow what a yummy dish surely will try it soon .Thank you very much . Love to watch you cook with all the bubbliness in your voice . Thanks once again and May God Bless You always dear.
Karen this is ONE OF THE BEST, if not THE BEST Goan Roast Beef .... and cooked in a Pressure cooker, just like my mummy used to make it back in the 70' and 80's. Loved it. Regards from California.
I tried this recipe it tasted amazing...i let the marinade stay for 5 days...since there was no beef i used mutton....added more veggies like zuccini, carrot, sweet corn, peas with sliced potatoes
Aunt Sally was right! You're just awesome. Loved the recipe, the preparation and way you so beautifully presented it. I chanced upon your channel today, subscribed, and will definitely use the tips to make some great food! Take care, keep going.
I made this today to eat with pav and I’d say this recipe is a keeper. The only additional thing I did was stud the meat with garlic in addition to the cloves. Empty bowl and full bellies.
None of my pressure cookers 'whistle'. How long t=does this take? I think a teaspoon each of butter or ghee and sugar would have given a great finish to a super-duper recipe. Thanks.
Definitely not butter sugar ghee. Enough fat on the Beef chunks. I sometimes cook in a slow cooker or just in a big pot over slow fire with a lid on and water over the lid. Minimal water in the pot
Prepared Goan beef roast for Easter away from family. Bang on taste. Reminded me of the time my mom used to prepare beef roast in pressure cooker when I was kid. Happy Easter. Thanks for the receipe.
This recipe looks soooo delicious! It makes me want to make it for next meal! However, what can I do if I don't have a pressure cooker? Although after watching this video you make me want to run out and buy one! How long did the three whistles take?
Hi! I must say yr recipes are druling, authentic specialy the goan traditional ones. Beef roast fantastic. Bore ruchi chen. Looking forward for a good rechar masala .
Hi Karen, This is how my mum would prepare the beef roast with cloves inserted in the meat. I would like to add for the benefit of those who don't know ( I might have missed it though if you have already mentioned it); we preferably use coconut vinegar in the cooking as the synthetic vinegar just doesn't give the authentic taste. Apart from that, you have shared authentic goan beef asado recipe! Thank you!
I tried this recipe it tasted amazing................Awesommmmmmmm. Thank God i came across your channel. My son love the Roast Beef and said mom the best roast beef i had for Christmas, he asked me from where i got the recipe from , i told it was from Kravings... Karen and she is a Goan. we are Goans too. He said hats off to you and Merry Christmas.....
Thanks for the recipe. Had a question here- why do we have to cook the chunks first and then chop them into smaller pieces? Can we, instead, begin cooking with the smaller chunks?
Hi there! 🙏 Thanks! I think a few reasons. I would imagine because people didn’t have ovens, they did it this way. If you slice before, one it’s very hard to slice raw beef and two your slices would be over cooked and shredded.
Kravings , I tried it with sliced meat from the beginning (instead of chunks) it came out pretty well. Saved some time as well. However, thanks to your recipe, it tasted heavenly!

Very nice recipe. Taste is spot on however, 3 whistles was not enough for me and the beef was still slightly chewy. I had to give it another 2-3 whistles then it was fine.
Thank you Varun ....glad you cooked it longer - it does differ - type of beef, how big your pot is and the heat source! Please also consider subscribing to my channel - cheers!

Yes, there is certainly a group of militant protesters who would have everyone believe that ALL Hindus are against even the idea of eating beef. These individuals are violent and loud, and mostly self-appointed. Of course, there have been unfortunate instances where Muslims have been killed over this issue, which is infinitely sad. But beef is by no means uniformly outlawed in India (so Muslims, Christians, and a hundred other small communities are not doing anything illegal by consuming beef). Vinegar is part of East Indian cooking too and Mangalorean and also French colonies in the South of India like in Pondicherry
