Lol she played horrible. Both did.
I watched the whole match live. Watched every point. The level was so low. Longest rally in this match was 7 shots. There were so many serve breaks... it was a turture to the viewer

Ons though... looks like she regained some form at Madrid but stumbles again. That points drop come Wimbledon won't be a pretty sight.
Hearing one the commentators call out 'vintage Kenin' made me chuckle...she is one fiesty player! lol Super happy for her to be playing so well again.

@@suzannekingston2998 Dont get ahead of yourself, she did this to us last year too. I had her well inside the top 20 by this time this year, and her inconsistency always seems to own her. When she wins, she is always a topic of conversation, because like Ostapenko when she is on she is as good as anyone on the court.
Unlike Volleynets Sophia plays slightly bad at times but not likely just to insane throw away matches! She fights mostly competes well!

Ons Jabeur team needs to get to work really. She has all the tools and skills for the game. Something isn't right......Health, motivation, game plan, approach, work ethic, etc.
She still has a big future but the team needs to get to some real work. Things are not going well
Ons has all the tools to win every match possible. But the fighter in her seems absent. Don't know what's going on. Her motivation seems lost this season. The fighting spirit is absent. Please sit up Ons. We love you and root for you. I still believe the bigger trophies await you. This is not the Ons Jabeur we are used to. The season has been terrible so far

Ons, as ever i was rooting for you. Okay, form dips and during this match i heard commentators saying the Wimbledon loss has really affected you. But, come on...that almost a year now. How many disappointing final losses have others had...they have risen up and won. Andy Murray lost so many finals before winning US open. Gabi Sabatini, Goran Ivanesavic, Jana Novota too. Come on you're a fighter . Please fix this.❤

Kenin has those angles and can be super consistent. Her game reminds me a little of Myskina. Anyone else see that or am I crazy?

I like Ons, great tennis player, very versatile, great personality. But I was shocked when I saw her at the beginning of the year, she has gained too much weight (no not saying she is fat) but I've seen a few other WTA players not looking in the best possible shape.
They are both marvelous players, and real craftsmen, but if you told Sofia she needed to do 200 sit-ups a day to get an edge, she would do it- Ons I am not so sure. If she wants a chance against younger players she needs to be in tip-top shape as well.

Ons looked really bad at the end of the match. She clearly has overweight problems and is clearly getting tired a lot. Kenin plays similar tennis and she is in much better shape now.
So honestly this wasn't a terrible lose for Ons or a huge shock of Sofia.
Sofia is a super dangerous player and can go "on" at any moment, lets not forget she got wins over Aryna, Coco, and Vika last year and had a few QF showings spinkled across the year. Shes one of the most dangerous floaters similar to Biana of Paula. The issue isn't talent or hunger, it's consistency to repeat this match after match and week after week. Sofia is also. FO finalist. Great job by her and Ons for a great match. Both dark horses to make good rubs at FO if they can be consistent. ❤

Just curious why was the crowd in favor of Ons? Ons is just a pretender and not as good as she thinks she is. Kenin proved it.
The WTA seems to have more stability these days, with Rybakina, Swiatek, and Sabalenka dominating. Unfortunately, that means Jabeur is now relegated to the second tier. I'd love to see her win a GS, but those days seem behind her now.

kenin just has her number its her style of play.
I often think of the number of players like Ons, who have many supporters, play a pretty good game, come close but have never won a major and are never labeled as “No Hit Wonders”. Then I think of the players who have won just one major and are labelled… I won’t say it and are demeaned. We saw representatives from each group in this match. I wonder, if they were asked, which group each would be preferred to be part of for reputation, apart from the money earned factor.

Jabeur has so many different shots in her game, so many options, that I think sometimes she ends up overthinking things - when she should stick to a system for handling certain opponents. It's like her strength can also be her weakness.
Not consistent... having a good drop shot is just not enough! Doesn't have power game. Serve is average and can't go toe to toe with power hitters... she just got lucky and her time is up!
Good battle.
Kenin is no slouch. Ons is just a mystery at the moment.
When Kenin is on, it's one of my favorite games to watch. But you just never know when she shows up, because she's great when she does and awful when she doesn't
She does tend to bring it when running into top players though.

Kenin has excellent ground strokes and is intelligent out there but can she be any slower? Almost inexplicably so. If she was faster and played better recovery shots she could rise again. I hope she does.
It’s a long shot so far but maybe my 2 favourites Bianca and Sofia will again be back to their best this year. I’ll throw in Naomi, too. The 3 playing well will definitely make the WTA field more interesting.

@@nishantthaccker1173 Actually, Bianca’s heydays were in 2019, before Covid. A long time and many injuries ago, I know. I emphasized long shot and maybe. At just 23 years old and probably the most natural talent so far let down by a fragile body, as long as she still wants to play and is able to, I would say don’t count her out. I do believe what happens this year for her could set her direction 1 way or another. Sofia and Naomi are presently better bets to come back well. I’m rooting for all of them, especially Bianca, being my favourite athlete of all sports.

I was in Melbourne when Kenin won the AO. I had never heard of her but watched her play from the 2nd row. She just proved she can still beat top players. She could win a tournament at any time.
I would also like to say Jabeur has a beautiful BH slice as well as a BH volley most people don't have, including the men. I think a hard court and grass court for sure will allow her to use her slice to move forward and be at the net a lot more than on the clay. If Jabeur moves forward and takes the net it looks to me like she could win Wimbledon. Roma may belong to Kenin, place your bets.

VEry good match. Both had some real highlight plays. Jabeur was her usual 'crafty' self, but Kenin can play most any style, she's just wildly inconsistent. And no, there will not be a smile. She seems to really put tons of pressure on herself in every match and doesn't seem to enjoy playing. But she smiles some in doubles.
The Arab woman is a good player however, she always seem to be having health issues "cough, breathing.." whenever the opponent starts playing better than her. I feel like can win if she changes that tactic.
I like Sofia's dropshots. But today she met the boss 😅

Kenin in this match proved how good clay court player she is. She reached French Open Final 4 years ago after all. Ons Jabeur was lucky to take one set from Kenin. Ons is in poor form, but let's give credit where it's due. Kenin was the better player today. Congratulations to Kenin and I wish her good luck in the next match.

Im a big WTA follower and a big Jabeur fan. I was bored so i watched the whole match live. Sadly i got even more bored. Such a lazy match. These two kept breaking each others' serves like they are two children.
It was such an exhausting match to watch. No excitment whatsoever. Short rallies. Felt almost as though they were forced to play. Sad women tennis match.
