The quality of your vids are unreal and I agree nothing like using a spinning reel with a good Rod, I use a stratic ci4+ 2500 size with a 852 J&W Loomis Rod and its amazing setup for me personally.
Really good video. I have heard some of the key points before, but Seth put it together well. - high vis braid to see bites - larger reel to get the benefits of greater spool diameter and drag area - heavy power rod to drive the single hook at the end of a long cast All applies to grub fishing as well. Wonder if a longer rod (7.5 - 8ft) would be helpful? More weight, but more leverage for casting and hook set.
+John Pendleton I agree, he basically reminds us that common sense is usually the answer. like the guys that need a super ultra light rod for steelhead fishing and the lightest possible line 4-6 lb t test is best. you can catch them the same on 20 lb. yellow braid with a 3 foot leader and a medium heavy spinning rod.
cool stuff u sound like u have hundred of hrs of experience.. im def ready to hit the river and try my tubes .i have alot of mizmo bigboy tubes the smalljaws model snd the 2 tone river tubes.. my best days have been on watermellon red flake.or the lake fork craw tube in grn ppk or wtm seed.. u made that look too easy.some whoppers man
first time I seen you, I really appreciate the way you explain things I fish for Smallmouth quite a bit and the rivers in Ohio and on Lake Erie by far my favorite fish to fish for and my favorite bait is a tube. I usually buy some colorform of green pumpkin and I mix my own color of die . I use spinning tackle usually 1/8 ounce internal weight, with a Texas Rig four or five out Gamakatsu wide Gap hook. that way I don't get hung up cin the current on the rivers. the only real problem I have is tear outs. I like And subscribe
Seth, Thanks for all of the info. I'm new to tubes, so this was great! I'm hoping to catch a few lake Erie smallmouth in the spring in 2017. I couldn't afford the Daiwa gear, but it looks awesome. I did pick up a 2500 series Arbor reel, so I'm going with the larger reel with the 7' ML rod and I really like the feel of it.
Great tips!! I immediately noticed the larger reel size and may give those a try!! I kayak fish 5 or 6 day's a week during the season here in Ontario, Canada 🍁 . I only use spinning gear and have 5 reels I the 2000/2500 sizes so I'm interested to see how a 3000 would work for my style of fishing.
All I learned was I need this guy to come figure out the truck to the pond by my house. It has bass hitting all spring but it's like they go into the river during the summer.
Excellent Tube "how To" video - Question .. .. Who sell the 2.5 inch tube Seth is using ? Can't seem to find one quite that short - plenty of 3.5" plus models to choose from though
Great clip! I subscribed to watch for more! Love those smallies and definitely miss Mille Lacs. I've since moved to the Detroit area and I've got a few clips of Lake St Clair smallies up on my channel if you don't mind checking a few out.
Fluorocarbon Leader Material - or straight Fluorocarbon? What size braid? How do you get long casts with this size bait and a heavy action rod? I would think Med-Hvy would be as heavy as you'd want to go???
This is by far the best video on fishing a tube for Smallmouth that I have seen. Thanks a TON for posting it. Learned a ton.
Seth Feider is an incredibly good teacher, he has a good way of explaining things in detail.
this dude Seth is without a doubt the most helpful angler on tour to the masses. That dude was raised right!
"You only get so much time on the water" So true and a good endorsement for buying the best tackle you can!

Sudden Death Seth -- he is the man.

I can attest the guides on the daiwa steez spinning rods are big time and do add serious sensitivity. And I am not on the pro staff!
BDunn

Strike King bitsy tube. Remember he pinches off about a 1/4 inch of the tentacles.
Is there anyone in the world that's better at catching northern smallmouth than Seth?
Seth has more blue trophies in his future!
nice video!
Feider man don’t need no net..
Feider man said *shkoooop* dere he is. dis my speshal gui.
Dude sounds like a surfer who just smoked a half-bag. Sweet video tho!
Works on largemouth bass also.
how long of the leader off the braid and what kind a knot
What size braid do you put on a spinning reel
Leader to spool (7 feet or so). 20lb braid is fine for freshwater. Double uni knot to connect braid to leader
can I add your videos on my youtube channel here in Brazil

Ken here's a vid with Seth going through his knot th-cam.com/video/talLt80oRLg/w-d-xo.html
Hey ,
I thought “ heavy” referred to power not action
Great Lakes smallmouth can be a hard nut to crack. It helps if you have $100,000 worth of gear....
COULD you PLEASE tell me again what stuff you are trying to sell ! SELL SELL SELL
Hey you can use what the pros use or use the walmart special. Good to know what the best use
Can’t hardly hear him talk, loud music

You're great man, but I think it's not cool to talk to people with your shades on, show us your eyes.
He should let the sun burn his eyes! Find some eye pics.
Edward Drew yeah, talking 5 minutes without sunglasses will definitely burn his eyes.
You sound like a chick
