12:37 i have been thinking about his for a while the big question MANY ask is why would they want to hide our items well...... did you every think that maybe since ebay is laser focused on focused categories that there afraid for 2 things the first thing is if they give the NON focused categories MORE visialbilty (impressions) those items (in this non focused categories) will do way better then there focused categories (which will make the CEO and all that support his WAY of the future for ebay look like fools how can you support Focused categories and not support the other categories if those other categories are doing WAY better then the focused categories?) this would be one thing they are worried about the other thing i think they are worried about is if they give the items in the non focused categories more visibility (impressions) and buyers actually buy those items then its less money for buyers to spend on Focused category items and those are the categories they want to buyers to buy in and those are the categories they want to see the sales in
At this point, I’m just getting tired of listing items and them not being seen with no clearcut path on how get visibility back because eBay doesn’t communicate with its sellers. Promoting not promoting promoting to high promoting to low. It is just too much. I’m just getting tired of eBay And their games
Well now they want us to pay for off-site promotion. Have you seen that in your seller dashboard. So now whoever doesn't pay to play offsite will move lower in the rankings. I'm not paying for that. Ebay needs to be advertising it's ebay site itself.

I've been watching outside of eBay videos lately on TH-cam. Economist experts. Everybody is telling us how the banks are failing and how credit card debt is through the roof. Rent is up, mortgages are hanging by a thread and a lot of people don't have the expendable income that they use to. The economy plays a big part in this. However back in the housing crash of 2008 I flourished on eBay. It's an entirely different animal these days. Okay great video Jeff!
but if you step back and look just think what you said back in 08 you flourished on ebay I DID as well but i also flourished on other sites i was on as well as selling on message boards and forums (people were still buying like i was 1999) NOW yes it s different animal but its not the economy look what they keep blaming there issues on every earnings call they blame the loss of market share WHEN THEY CREATED THAT ISSUE THEMSELVES by doing nothing to RETAIN or go after buyers (new and OLD) and there really doing nothing to retain sellers!! to me it seems they know there days are numbered they do not want to admit it so there just holding till the boat sinks It is Ebay Most other platforms are Doing Great for me its just ebay that is wacked out i sell on etsy, mercari offer up, poshmark, Reverb, Hip, Alibris, Amazon they are all consistent ebay NOPE cant say they are right now and again if it was the economy it would not be just affecting ebay it would be affecting ALL ecommerce platforms which its not so its not the economy this is what ebay wants the guidable brainless sellers to believe so they have a fall guy to say so they do not have to admit its actually ALLL the things they have done since 2018 that has SCREWED up the economy to drive both buyers and sellers away ITS all internal NO external factors Like bay wants us all to think i have never bought there BS and im not going to start to in 2024
i will have something soon. I'm learning posh right now and still doing etsy and redoing my local procedures, so just been swamped. but we all have to pivot because ebay is so unpredictable. i will try and put something together soon, starting with a what sold as that is easy to get into. i love sharing my unique items so it means the world to hear your comment. cheers.
While impressions may not mean direct sales, that are representative. Last year before the "April Event" my store was getting 21M impressions a month. Now it's around 7M, and my sales have fallen by about the same percentage.
I have looked at my store through these day-to-day snapshots. I originally did this when I noticed that I only get 25,000 page views per month on 40,000 items. That means at least half of my items don’t even get clicked in a given month because some of the better ones are probably getting two clicks or more. My items are not that desirable to the world at large. Each one requires a specific buyer, but when that buyer comes along, I’ll often have the only option available to them. This is where my click-through and conversion save the day.
4:42 and id also want to see the sellers feedback we do not work hard for 100% feedback to give our items away having and keeping 100% feedback gives us as sellers a right o ask top dollar for our items and get top dollar you want to buy the same item for a lower price 99.9% of the time is not going to be from a seller that has 100% feedback
So, I looked at the daily itemized impressions. Granted, I have a small store ( 200ish), but the numbers are jarring. In looking at items with impressions of 50 and over, I have 15. Going deeper down the rabbit hole shows that these items receiving impressions are either my lowest priced items, out of season items, or items waiting for that specific buyer. Now I am at a point, where even though I have great feedback both in customer reviews and percentages - I am about to lose my Top Rated Seller status due to my sales numbers being under 100. I often wondered how, an item identical to mine sold for a higher price, with flaws, and poor staging. Well now I can see they had impressions and potential visibility, whereas, I don't. Thanks for the additional metric fine tune.
After intentionally droping 30% of impressions during last 2-3 months (empty ones), I've scan through first 800 items (half of the shop), not a single one with zero. About 30 below 10. Another 30 with 1000+. I can't sort it by number of impresions, so it's a tedious work to count them one by one.
Very few people know that eBay states " We'll only remove or hide a listing for one of the following reasons:.. #4 is...."It's been active on the site for a year or more without any sales"
I kind of get the feeling that because of TH-cam videos like ours sellers are getting a little taste of how desperate we are to make the sale. Don't know
Regarding "Ending-and-selling-similar no longer works". That would imply that sorting by "newly listed" doesn't work, which might be partially true. Are you including "Ending-and-Selling-Similar-WHILE-lowering the price"?, because that still works for me apparently. My search results are different than somebody in another state, so I don't know for sure.
yes that is the thing with end and sell similar eBay even states this in there YT videos from conferences they have done all around the world that after 90 days they considered it a stale item they suggest you end the listing , TWEAK it (price, picture, title, description so on and so on but must do at least one to trick the algo) so by changing SOMETHING in the listing and getting new item ID number this REFRESHES your listing and you get the "newly listed" badge if your just ending and selling similar this is why for those of you doing it that way (and not changing anything) has no affect because it be like taking things off a store shelf bring them out side putting them on floor waiting a few minutes and the bring them back in and putting them in the exact same place IT HAS NO AFFECT you just wasted your time.
I haven’t experienced the issue with the buyer cancelling and then me having the option to keep the sale at a lower price. However, we need to just look at it as a blank-and-white issue: is this new price acceptable? It shouldn’t matter what the other item is, or if it even exists. This may just become part of the dance, so it’s better to just look at it simply. And when I say “better,” I mean better for your mental outlook. Block out the nagging what-if questions and the disappointment over settling for a lower price (you don’t have to settle if you don’t want to). Is the new price still okay?
I hear you and what you say makes sense but for me to make an educated decision on whether or not, I want to accept a lower price because I customer found a lower item I need to. I still need to know what that item is. And unless I don’t, I’m most likely gonna decline out of principal. How many times have you declined a lower offer only to see itself higher
