  • Now that the ridge beam is in and the rafters are cut, we just need to cut all that scrap into bird blocks and ridge blocks. How fast can we cut and notch over 100 blocks? Watch and see.
    Please remember that I'm not showing the best way to form footings, but just the method that works well for us. Thanks for watching!
    Oh and another takeaway, if you use a drone for commercial work, you need to be part107 certified. Commercial work includes social media like TH-cam if you plan to make an income off of that. I watched a video about this last May and then purchased the Part 107 Course sso.teachable.... I studied and learned for 1 month and then took my test. I scored a 95%, which is a testament to how good Greg and the crew over there teach. That link will save you $100 off the course and support this channel.

    Man I just binge watched your shorts for a hour. You got me really missing construction. I did plumbing for 13 years and there’s a lot of framing involved with new construction and remodel plumbing and I always loved it. Also I’m very jealous of your tools. I’m a big believer in investing in the right tools to do the job better and save your body some labor.

    My son is just learning the trade and is just starting to work with me. It’s awesome to be able to watch these videos. I always give my why so he can see the next step. I love how you guys think out loud and show your why.

    I agree the assembly line does work good I also keep a barrel by the cut station to throw small pieces of scrap into so at the end of the day we’re not bending over picking up all the scraps

    Fascinating that you use a glulam ridge beam and collar ties. Though you could get away with a ridge board with collar ties as the rafters act more like a truss.

    I have been watching the construction and just wondered about your nailing of the rafters. Is there a set number of nails that you have to put into the rafter as I notice sometimes it seems that you put in more than a previous one?

    Hey buddy, would love to know how to attach these rafters when you are doing an exposed rafter/beam/ceiling. Do skewed nails hold it all togerher?

    Serious question…. How do you keep your tool belt from pulling down your pants?

    • @alanhancock5892
      @alanhancock5892 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They can get really tight. It’s literally a big belt like on your pants. Mine always helped keep my pants from falling down. Also they make suspenders for them too if you have a ton of weight in it.

      I wear one of those golf belts on my pants a.co/d/e4T0Q3e
      Then my badger belt is a 4" belt and doesn't go anywhere, even when I wear shorts and no belt.

      This is something I never hear about on any TH-cam channels. After wearing a tool belt for the first 37 or 38 years with not suspenders, I just kept the belt tight, so it didn't slip, I told my doctor about numbness in the front of my legs above the knee. My doctor told me that the numbness is caused by wearing a tight belt all the time. The see a lot of this here as my doctor's office is also the provider for a navy ship building facility here where a lot of employees wear tool belts. I wear suspenders now. If I wasn't 66 and had many more years of working ahead of me, I might try a vest of some sort.
      Just a word of caution to all my fellow tradesmen and women.

    Do you have to pick up your trash twice if you just throw it into a pile instead of a dumpster? You're usually very efficient so I don't understand this
