    I work in a Polestar Space in the US, and I have to say that not only was this by far the longest review I've watched on our Polestar 2, but it's the most in depth review by miles! You went into some details which are only briefly touched upon in our training, and I'm incredibly impressed with your attention towards being unbiased in your presentation.
    I genuinely wish more reviewers took your approach to vehicles, as most consumers look at cars as appliances, and not how myself or your cameraman seem to view them. I think I enjoyed listening to you more than Jay Leno, Doug DeMuro, or even Tyler Hoover! Needless to say, I've subscribed!

    I bought a Polestar 2 a few months ago and it arrives in 2 weeks. I have watched every TH-cam video on the Polestar 2, and although the new 2024 model has some small changes, this is still by far the best review/overview out there! Having an Android phone I'm glad that won't be a problem for me. ;)

    I've been driving a Tez M3LR for the last 2+ years (UK based) and am actively thinking of moving to Polestar. I have a test drive booked for a few days' time and in the meantime have been watching may videos on UChoob about the 2023/4 versions. This is by far the best one that I've watched and it has filled in loads of gaps about various bits and bobs that others have failed to cover - and it makes me want one more than ever. Well done, Lee, this review is all the better for you not being a petrolhead or whatever the BEV equivalent is!

      @user-sx1jz4lk4g sorry but saying nowadays, that a car is shit, only because it is made in CHINA is a complete non sense.
      where do you think most of the cars are produced nowadays including a very big portion of the so beloved Tesla's?... CHINA
      VW, Audi, Skoda, Porsche, BMW, Ford are only a few of the brands that have 1 or more models that are produced in China.
      Actually the location where they are produced is not relevant anymore. It's just a location. Quality has nothing to do with the location anymore.
      An iPhone is produced in China as well. Is it shit for that?? I don't think so.
      But the most funny part of it is that your Volvo XC40 Recharge is actually produced in Ghent, which is in Belgium and not China.
      So maybe you should blame Belgium for it rather than China.
      Also rust on a Volvo/Polestar? Seriously?
      Maybe a Tesla but not a Polestar. You should be really fine with your XC40.

    14:56 the left right arrows on the driving wheel are for the LIM function and ACC (adaptive cruise control). If you click on it while you are on speed limiter (LIM), then it automatically switches the speed limitation based on the speed limit road signs (ex. road sign is 30km/h, the car won't go any faster than that, until it reads another road sign (or GPS information), in which case it will automatically modify the speed limit). It's actually super handy in big cities with speed limitation changing every 5s and speed traps every 50m (which you have in certain cities in Europe). So i love this feature because it allows you to drive smoothly, without caring too much on the speed you are. Such a stress relieve in certain areas.
    It's actually quite a hidden feature (even thought you do get a little icon on the instrument cluster), no car reviewer ever explained that (and i have seen many for this car before buying it).
    If you click it while on ACC, then it switches from normal adaptive cruise control to adaptive cruise control with steering wheel assistance.

    Seat memories are for when the car is serviced, and they always bugger them up. Cup holders should not be used on the move, so not really an issue. Will be seriously looking at the polestar 2. The lease on our model 3 runs out in the summer. Love the model 3 BUT won’t be leasing a new one mainly because of the lack of stalks for indicating. Absolute no-go in countries with roundabouts. Great informative video btw.

      That's fair and the Polestar is a lovely car. I would still suggest you test drive the new Model 3. I was ready to really not like the indicators as buttons for loads of reasons. Now I've only sat in one for about 5 minutes, but I was pleasantly surprised how nice it actually felt to use the indicator buttons.

    I've been an owner for 2.5 years in the USA and as another "vertically challenged" driver, I find the car fits me quite well. One small comment on the folding mirrors - while I agree that they maybe should fold further, they actually fold to the point where they don't extend past the sides of the car with the intent being that something passing the car would hit the wheel arches before the mirrors. If you crouch down and stare straight down the side or were to a drone shot from directly above, the folded mirrors don't extend past the wheel arches.

    • @notacarguy_au
      @notacarguy_au  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I can see that. I guess it's also looks to the naked eye that they don't go in that much. Still really like how the mirrors are kinda "sealed". That's a really nice design feature.

    Thanks for the detailed response 🎉. Maybe , in braking terms, 80-0, 60-0, are reasonably practical braking distances as they , certainly the 60-0 is very common.
    Yes, I would seek to basically set as many controls e.g demist for winters and, away from vehicle air-conditioning in summer.
    However, after watching quite a few YT videos, it seems many of the more volume EV manufacturers, basically configure their software such that all controls revert to default when vehicles are turned off. That shouldn't be a difficult fix, and we need to remember that these are still the early days for EV'S, hybrids are of no interest to me.
    Keep up the good, practical, work.

    • @notacarguy_au
      @notacarguy_au  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Having not look at any non electric cars in ages I wonder if they too are going more "touch screen, than buttons" and this is a overall car trend and not just in EVs?

  • @robertcudlipp485
    @robertcudlipp485 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Have enjoyed this and the other reviews I have watched.
    Only been looking at EV's - not interested in hybrids, for a month or so.
    The one comment that applies to virtually every review, is the amount of time/attention, given to the screen/screens in these vehicle.
    Whilst the following comment may be counter intuitive for an EV, really, in an ICE it is just so, so much faster just twirling a few knobs to control air conditioning, heating/cooling and more, rather than having to dive into a series of screen based menus. Sure, it would not be that difficult to adjust to, however one aspect that concern me is the amount of time a driver would be distracted from simply looking at the road ahead- to my mind, this is a significant safety issue.
    Also, I don't ( and will never) own an iPhone, and many of the new released EV's seem focussed on an Iphone connected interface, and method of controlling various vehicle functions. Yes, appreciate that this lovely Polestar 2, clearly showed an ability to mate with Android phones.
    Also, whilst appreciating you are not the EV equivalent of a petrol head ( will have to coin a term for the EV era !), given the Performance Cred of the Polestar 2, would have loved your commentary on its acceleration performance , 100-0 braking and noise levels in the car + car comfort ride on the various modes available.
    This is intended as constructive commentary, as I believe that others may share , at least some, of the questions leading to my questions.
    Looking forward to more of your reviews, and am about to head to Sydney Melbourne video, though, tbh, for longer distance driving, would probably catch a plane !

    • @notacarguy_au
      @notacarguy_au  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think you make a fair point about the screens. Though this can be mitigated in many vehicles as those functions can be controlled and adjusted via voice prompts. It's just a matter of remembering that you can use the voice assistants rather than having to touch the screens.
      The iPhone issue is not an issue at all as I believe all cars that support the iPhone Carplay function also support the Android Auto function.
      I am not a confident enough driver to test 100-0. Perhaps one day if I go to defensive driving course and learn how to do those sorts of things. But it's not my cup of tea. 🤷🏻☺️ For this same reason I don't think my opinion on the acceleration and performance would have been that helpful. As I don't know enough to have a well informed opinion on things like that. And I think there is already more than enough uninformed folks on the internet with opinions. 🤣
      In regards to comfort, I found it very comfortable, but again, I am no expert.
      Hope you enjoy some of my videos. ☺️

    19:16 you had my same idea. I also didn't like to have the wire laying around into my volume button and gear selector. Only that i chose the other pocket. There is another hidden pocked on the opposite side of the driving seat. You can put it there and then you don't have to deal with the wire anymore. Much better.
    Although i must warn you that by doing that, there is the risk that you touch the leg of the passenger.
    And if it is not your wife or girlfriend or whatever. You might get into some kind of trouble if you don't warn her before doing the little "adjustment".
    You might want to warn her if you don't want to get accused of sexual harassment🤣

    • @notacarguy_au
      @notacarguy_au  ปีที่แล้ว

      You could also simply ask the person in the passenger seat to pass you your phone. 😉 Which of course you would only do once you’ve stopped driving as you don’t need to touch your phone whilst driving. ☺️

    It may seem cool to get regular software updates to improve an EV's performance, but the downside is that EVs are particularly susceptible to malware, hacking, and security breaches. However conscientious a manufacturer may be in trying to address these risks, there is no guarantee of success where other businesses (even financial institutions) have occasionally failed.

    • @notacarguy_au
      @notacarguy_au  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is a fair concern, but I would say they are far less vulnerable than most things. I don't know this for a fact, but would assume it's rather closed loop. So the cars won't accept an update from anything that isn't signed correctly. One would hope these types of things have been thought of.
      Nothing is 100% secure, but I think at least for now the closed system nature of it would be fairly ok? 🤷🏻

    The over the air and always in connectivity does provide advantages, it also means they can turn off features at a whim and move to a subscription model for features such as heated seats, cruise control etc. This is not a good thing as this is just revenue grabs.

      That’s sounds like a pretty good car and setup. But I’ve no idea if that’s a good price or not for Canada. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I guess you could look around at what they are going for and if it’s a reputable place that is selling it? I know that’s not too helpful but hope it helps a bit. 😀
