"He was probably a good man when he wasn't committing crimes" killed me. Glad to see you ladies enjoying the show. The girl they cast for Maya is as close to comic accurate as possible. She is deaf, an amputee, and native American.
In the comics the character is Indigenous and deaf, but not an amputee. The actor they found happens to also be an amputee, and she's never acted before except as an extra in a high school play. It's a real feel good story, 'cause she's doing great work.
Also the girl playing her as a child? Is her deaf cousin.
The whole thing makes me feel so good.

Agreed, Marvel fired the perfect shot in casting Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop the same way they did with Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, etc. 😀😆

I think her Uncle is a bit…bigger, than the swordsman. Clint used the USB arrow in The first Avengers movie to take down the helicarrier.

Uncle is definitely king pin lol. That hard walk when he walked up to her to pinch her cheek was definitely not a light foot person lol.
There seems to be a lot of things that this episode confirms. 1) I think Marvel recognizes that it is hard for a non "super" being can readily be an Avenger, so they will need to be more integral to plans to make it meaningful for them to be there at all; 2) Pym particles must be a major key to much of quantom physics in the Marvel universe. This has the capacity to really stimulate discussion about the philosophies and scientific theories on the nature of energy and matter. How, for example, can you shrink a being and make that beings actions have more force (because of the concentration of matter) yet you can flick that being like a pea or wear that being on a key chain without experiencing the weight forces associated with concentrating matter? Conversely, if you aren't increasing matter, how can you expand an arrow to the size of an astroid and that arrow have the impact of a falling mountain instead of that of a cloud? 3) Pym tech and Hawkeye skill seem to be very important in what we've seen in What If? And they seem to rely pretty heavily on the Banner brain more than the Hulk. We saw arrows used in the What If series used in this chase seen. We've seen Hank Pym be able to take out the Avengers single handedly in What If because of Pym tech's ties to the quantom realm. It begs the question what are the scientists and non metahumans up to doing, and by doing what they are doing, starting with Tony Stark, are they inadvertently paving the path for Kang to rise to power.

Clint and Kate’s humanity are focused on in the Fraction run of Hawkeye. He made sure readers realized that neither of them had super powers and can’t just shake off injuries they take.
I think both will be much more damaged and bandaged by the end of the series.
Wish we got more of Zahn McClarnon 'cos I love him in everything he's in; Westworld, Fargo, Reservation Dogs - more ppl should check that show out as well! Great tease there of D'Onofrio's Kingpin from the Netflix Daredevil show - recognise that chuckle anywhere!
Zahn may be the most recognizable Native actor still working and he's always a treat

I love Zahn McClarnon, he can convey a depth of emotion that resonates in your whole being. He is one of the best actors working today.

Nice reaction. If Pym is helping Hawkeye with his arrows, how many arrows could he fit in that quiver? In the movies Hawkeye had switch built into the quiver to change the arrow heads. While here the arrows themselves are tricked out. The quiver looked different from the ones he used in the movies as well. The uncle is an uncle. Put just in name, not an actual uncle. It's just a statement of how close he is to the dad. Lastly, While Hawkeye was Ronin, he was just killing the whole crews of gangs. Why would he just jump out the window because she came in? If that was really Ronin, he would have just killed her too. Why leave? Looks like a set up. Rival gang took them out, without any of the blame for it. Or was it Uncle. I am sure he didn't like the "Fatman Garage" name. Hmmm, could be.

Maya has the ability to remember and mimic whatever she sees, so she learns pretty quickly. No powers or anything jsut photographic memory/reflexes. She extrapolates how to beat you in a fight by watching your movements and anticipating your attacks. So i guess the fact that she's also been taking capoiera classes since she was small is a major leg up as well (see what i did there? Because.....martial arts----nevermind!)
They really lucked out by casting Alaqua Cox as Maya, she has so much charisma in this role, its chill-inducing!
Thanos argues that removing half of all life is fair but to Clint his children are dead while criminals were left alive. The idea that he would be upset they get to live life as normal when so many people who were more deserving can't is pretty relatable.
You have to imagine that half the planet vanishing made a lot of things easier for a lot of criminals. Going after people who were taking advantage of the chaos not ethical but possibly did make things better.

Clint always used truck arrows on most of the movies. He used the usb Arrow, the Grapple hook arrows, the bomb ones, the electric arrows against Vision when he broke wanda out in civil war, and the split arrows in a few of the movies.
Oh one more thing: Kevin Feige is doing interviews this week for Spider-man and he said that Charlie Cox who was Daredevil (in Netflix show) is returning as the character in the MCU.
The Giant Arrow was awesome.
It was kinda risky though. It could have collapsed the bridge. I guess he did his calculations 🤣
If I'm not mistaken "Uncle" is Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin. He is from Netflix Daredevil. He touched her shoulder when she was in karate class. In the comics, Kingpin is over the Tracksuit Mafia.
The car chase was badass.
Echo has her own show coming out soon and I think it's gonna be pretty dope
I know what UNCLE stands for: United Network Command for Law and Enforcement. I had one of their ID cards when I was, like, four or five years old.
Who "uncle" actually is I won't spoil for you, but I'm pretty sure I know. Definitely a known Marvel character.
In the comics, Swordsman starts out as a bad guy who reforms and becomes an Avenger (much like Hawkeye himself). No guarantees that this iteration will follow the same character arc.
Love your reactions, fun to watch. I dont want to spoil it for you but Uncle is a big Marvel NY based villian that has been tied to Hawkeye, Spiderman & Daredevil. He's a big dude last played by a famous actor who will likely pop up in one of the next few episodes. But I agree with you the mom is sus & all that red wearing/red track suits. I think she is in with that big villian (her powerful friend as Arman put it)

The USB arrow also winds up being the weapon that helped save the multiverse in What if! Also the hand that pinches Echo's little cheek was the Uncle who is likely the Kingpin
I think Maya's story is important not just for the representation that her character brings but it also makes us as viewers really question how stories are told and framed. How many "villains" and/or "antagonists" if we had followed the story from their POV like we saw with Maya, would we see that they too have reasons for doing what they do, and that perhaps our heroes/protagonists are the villains of those characters' stories just like Ronin/Clint is for Maya. This brings in a lot of nuance and grey area that I think the MCU could use more of, because not everything in life is good guys vs. bad guys, people don't often belong in extremes and everyone has good and bad sides to them depending on various circumstances or who they're interacting with. This kind of complexity not only brings in interesting characters but also makes us question our heroes a little, because how often do we simply side with a character because we as an audience are primed and conditioned by narrative framing to fall in line with the protagonists, and how often do we love certain traits in our heroes while hating those same traits in our villains. It really makes you think about how we view stories because are heroes and villains really separated by their personality traits and actions, or are they simply separated by story framing and lack of proper emotional context? I think it's an important question to ask and Maya's POV really encompasses that.

The "uncle" is possibly the King Pen. The same King Pen from Netflix's Dare Devil. We already know that Charlie Cox will reprise his role of Daredevil in the MCU. Also, here's a Easter egg for you. 😏 Jack was the one who taught sword fighting to Hawkeye in the comics. 🤯 So it will be interesting to see of the included or change that within the show. Echo is the bet kind of villain, she has a point and a valid motivation. She gotta lose though. Lose or join the good guys. Scott Lang and Arrow Guy got prety tight, I am sure Team Ant Man was happy to make some speial arrows for Hawkeye. The do nothing arrow totally looked like the Zola arrow from What If. Great Reaction. Last thing, sometimes they get out, sometimes they be dead, but they are doing crime so they brought death on themselves. Keep up the great reactions.
I’m the comics, the Tracksuit Mafia is called “The Tracksuit Dracula’s”. I kinda like that name better, it goes well with the red tracksuits.

Uncle is The Kingpin. In the comics that’s Echo’s uncle. She’s also connected to Daredevil . Given the talk from Feige we’re probably getting close to Daredevil in the MCU. In real life the actress is an amputee. The Pym arrow is probably from Hank who might be doing tech for the new Avengers with Tony gone.
Daredevil cameo is in an upcoming Marvel film..its pretty much already out and confirmed
Ladies, your minds are about to be blown. That is, if the series follows the comics. We're about to see six degrees of separation...MCU style.
Not sure if someone else has brough it up, but most prominent suspicion/hope is that Wilson Fisk is Maya's "uncle". And the hope is, especially now that Fiege confirmed Charlie Cox is the MCU's Daredevil, that it will be Vincent D'Onofrio. It also sort of fits the comics because Kingpin and Echo have a similar relationship.
And... you ladies have some serious conspiracy minded trains of thought... hehehe... you got Armand attending a secret black market auction and he's the good guy now! And, Jack is in SHIELD! Hahahaha....
Here's my suspicion... Hawkeye didn't assault the Track Suit mafia as Ronin. It was Jack dressed up like Ronin who killed Maya's father and the others that night.
Echo wasn't originally going to be missing a foot, but the actress they wanted was missing a foot (yes, she is an actual amputee) so they wrote it into the part.

In the comics Jack was Clint's mentor before Clint turned good and joined the Avengers. I wonder how, if at all, that angle will be presented in the show. By the way, mom and Jack aren't "uncle " . Remember the hand pinching Maya's cheek when she was a girl ? That wasn't her dad either..the hand is too big...that was "uncle".
Her uncle seem to be "Kingpin" from the pinch on the cheek scene. Echoes is the name of the episode Maya is also known as Echo. There's a Marvel show coming called Echo so I'm thinking its about her and how she becomes who she becomes..

We know it was Clint as Ronin in Japan. All we saw was someone in the Ronin outfit killing the tracksuit mafia. Maybe not Clint. Maybe Clint.

In the comics Echo is apart of the Daredevil IP. So that is a large hint to who "Uncle" is. It appears that the series will connect with a lot of things we have seen previously in the Phase. Ronin was going after the leaders of organized crime to eventually topple the families. Somehow key is the watch from the auction.

Have you seen the Netflix Marvel shows from a couple of years ago? If you did, you already say "Uncle." I'll just leave it at that, as I don't want to spoil things and I already feel like I said too much. The chuckle we hear when he pinches young Maya's cheek sounds very, VERY familiar, so I'm pretty sure it is who many of us think it is.
Uncle, Yelena, Swordsman, Mom and Dad too, have to have their stories resolved in the last three episodes! Is there time for all this?! I cannot wait to see what comes next!

FYI, Ronin isn't a single person. Well, he isn't in the comics. We have yet to see how the MCU plays this, but my guess is this is true here too. I'm leaning towards a previous Ronin killing Maya's dad and former Tracksuit Mafia members and Clint picking up the mantle soon after. In the comics Clint, Maya (yes, this Maya!), Blade, Blackwidow's dad and another person I can't recall were all Ronin at some point in time. Blade is now in the MCU, so I suppose it could have been him, but we don't know how the MCU is going to play the Ronin story. This story draws from Matt Fractions Hawkeye story, but it isn't the same--another reason why we all shouldn't look to the comics for guidance, well, too much guidance as the MCU is, and always has been, it's own separate thing, drawing from established storylines.

that red car is actually the car they stole in the comic. In the comics antman was on hawkeyes arrow in civil war antman was on hawkeyes arrow ... Hank pym was the first antman his name Pym is on the arrow clint uses... so still antman is on hawkeyes arrow. in the comics jack is the swordsman he trained clint in the circus and was a mentor.
I’m just waiting for the reveal that JACK is the actual antagonist or a swerve to show the Mom is shady to some capacity and Kate has to process it all. He’s just too slimy for some reason and I can’t get over it😅 , wanna see the sword ⚔️ obsession be his undoing .

Clint was referring to Maya's "Uncle" when he was talking about someone above her, that's not to be messed with. I don't want to spoil the reveal but it's going to be a good one, A lot of people talking about it, already. I do think Kate's mom might be involved somehow.
Hello ladies. In the comics Echo's "uncle" is Wilson Fisk aka The KINGPIN. When Echo gets her own show it has been rumored that The Daredevil and Kingpin from the Netflix Marvel show are coming back. Just an FYI

Kate is the SHIT. She’s funny, definitely overconfident like Clint says, and wants to figure everything out. Hailee Steinfeld is A++++ as this character.

I'm wondering if it was actually Ronin who killed her father or if 'Uncle' hired someone to impersonate him for some reason. And it occurs to me that Jack could be that someone. After all, why did he want that sword so badly?
Wassup Ya'll! I am loving the Jack is undercover SHIELD theory. I'm with it! I think that might be it.
I also heard this great theory about the Pym arrow and Hank Pym's involvement with the Avengers now. I think it was NewRockstars who posited that since Tony Stark was making all of the Avengers tech, but sacrificed himself to bring everyone else back, Hank Pym (being touched by his sacrifice) decided to step in and make the Avengers tech. So I don't think Hank is making all of Hawkeye's arrows. I think he makes some of those himself, but I think Hank is contributing a few trick one's like the one in the show.
Lastly, I think Uncle is a villain from the comics that Marvel is introducing into the MCU - King Pin. He's like the head of all crime in New York. I think Kate's mom is working with him. Like she may be low key "Queen Pin". Great reaction as always!

Whoever was confused with the timeline after the endgame so here’s the MCU timeline - Endgame takes place in 2023, Wandavision took place 3 weeks later after Endgame , The falcon and the winter soldier 6 months later, spiderman far from home 8 months later and the upcoming spiderman no way home will take place in the same year of 2023 right where far from home ended and Hawkeye series takes place in future year of 2024 right before Christmas
Hawkeye is two years after Endgame. So its taking place in 2025.

The guy that pinched Maya's cheek as a kid was definitely D'Onofrio's Kingpin from the Netflix Daredevil series. In the comics, she worked for him until...some stuff went down. I don't think those shows will be canon in the MCU, but they're using Kingpin & Daredevil for sure in the MCU. I don't know who else, but I wouldn't mind all the main stand out characters from the Netflix shows EXCEPT that lazy prick that was Danny Rand aka IRON FIST. ugh. Also, some of the characters from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Helstrom and maybe Cloak & Dagger. Great Reactions BTW!
